The phone worked for 1 day and then broke.
Mint Mobile caused both of my phones to stop working and when I called, the person who answered could not understand the problem. When they finally agreed to transfer me to a supervisor, they actually just put me on hold forever and never answered. It's too bad because if I did get a hold of a supervisor, they could fix the problem.
I have given up on trying to become a Mint Mobile customer.
In coastal NC, I found that I was unable to send texts to various of my contacts during the first 48 hours of the trial period/SIM card. All of these contacts are fully reachable with my existing Verizon network in the same area.
After aprox 1 ½ hours of calls with Mint support (someone with heavily accented English, demanding to understand... and in a call center that sounded like they must have had a VERY exciting sports game fed into the room - people shouting LOUDLY as we were trying to solve the problem!) I realized that a solution was not forthcoming. They advised me to talk to Apple tech support (who in turn pointed to the Mint service as the likely cause of the issue). So that's a loop. Moving on...
Even with that unresolved, I decided to go ahead with a sign-up for regular service... except that in this task, their operators could not accomplish anything either. We got into some loop of trying to activate a Mint SIM card that was already activated. After another lengthy call, I was advised that another person would be in touch by phone. The last thing they did was to take down leading and trailing digits that identify the card used for payment.
That was earlier this week. Nothing further heard. I have tried calls (their menu system doesn't work as the prompts advise), 3 email addresses that I could find, and their chat window. In written communications, I fed in a detailed report that included problems and history, phone number, IMEI #, phone model and iOS. I can't think of anything else to give them (this information had already been taken down multiple times during prior calls and chats).
After another few days passed, I have deleted the Mint Mobile app. The advertising out there was quirky and catchy to people like me - perpetually feeling that Verizon doesn't like us - only our money. But Verizon's network is reliable. Looks like I am staying with the Big Vz Bully for the foreseeable future. And that's a pity.
PLEASE DO NOT USE MINT MOBILE!
You get what you pay for! Rude, ignorant and terrible service! No recourse when the customer service puppets assign the second phone the first phones number… then neither phones work! Cost me two days pay! What a circus! Please…. Don't Use This crappy service! Marcia Parrent
Please, don't buy anything from them! They can stole your money from your bank account!
They did that to me! If you want have a horrible service and an unprepared customer service, go ahead!
Bought 3 phones for my kids and spent so much time trying to deal with the phones not working or bad service. They continued to move cell towers, but that did not help. I tried to return the phones and get credit for 3 phones and for the full year service plans a couple months later and they rejected it by saying they only have a 7 day return policy. Xfinity Mobile seems to be 100% better. DO NOT DO IT!
WHAT?! I signed up for a new account with mint mobile and purchased two new phones. They said the phones would arrive in 7 to 10 days and then I would have two new lines of service. After almost a month, I still had not received the phones. After speaking with not less than a dozen people at mint mobile customer service, they told me that the phones were lost in transit. I then decided to cancel my service with them and they told me I had passed the two week return policy period. WHAT?! They then told me that there was a cancellation fee, and also that my card had been being charged this entire time for service and for the phones. I had to contact Affirm payment processing company because that's who they use. I needed a refund for phone charges and for service charges but once I contacted affirm they told me that it was Mint mobiles problem. After countless calls to both companies and getting nowhere, I decided to send them emails which they never responded to. The other day I applied for a new line of credit with a small company and they said my credit was bad because affirm had sent a bad report to the credit bureau because of mint mobile! I don't know how to get this resolved, but a warning to anyone who's looking to get new lines hooked up with mint Mobile.
I live in the states was just in France for 10 days, mint mobile was the number one largest frustration from my trip! I couldn't call or text anyone the whole time I was there except for the mint technical support (for some reason that worked). I spent hours texting them (8 separate technicians) doing everything they said to do, could not get it to work. The last guy tried to tell me my phone is locked! It's not! As soon as the plane landed in the states the phone worked fine again. If you are planning to travel outside of the states, DO NOT COUNT ON MINT MOBILE!
I've had terrible experience with this company. I started with transferring 2 lines but needed to disconnect one. Instead, they disconnected my main line as well even after numerous chats and calls to make sure that does not happen. I had customers call and receive a message that the phone number was disconnected hence losing some business.
The customer support line was hard to get through with over an hour of wait time in the beginning. Now, you cannot get through at all. The reps are out of the U.S. and poorly trained. There's a mutual difficulty communicating - understanding them and getting them to comprehend what you're trying to say and no clue what needs to be done.
Although they advertise $15 plans, that's just the hook for the first 3 months, plus-plus. What's more, there're always additional costs and fees, e.g. administrative recovery fee (?) with each payment. Why are we paying for their admin fees is beyond me.
I'll have to look for another legitimate company and go through the hassle of switching again, though I've read in another review that they lock your phone when you try to leave. Sorry to have fallen for this illegitimate company with their phony advertising.
Mint Mobile has been a nightmare for the 2 weeks that I've had them. To give some background on my situation, I lost my phone over the weekend and have been trying to sort things out by ordering a replacement sim. Initially I ordered a new phone + a new 12 month plan and then contacted customer service to ask if I'll be able to transfer my old number to the new plan. The customer service rep I spoke to was not helpful at all, stating that they can't help me and provided no useful alternatives. Before finishing answering all my questions, the rep made closing statement and said goodbye. I later received an email stating that my new phone + 12 month service plan I ordered was refunded even though that was NOT what I was trying to do. Well if they don't want my business that's perfectly fine because they have horrible service. If you have to contact customer service, good luck because their staff appears to be very inadequately trained as they are all incompetent. Their chat service on their website is also horrendous. You will literally spend hours on there just trying to connect with someone. For some reason the chat will randomly time out even as you're waiting in the queue and every time the chat closes you have to refresh/reopen it and start all over again. Worst customer service I've ever experienced and that's saying something.
STAY AWAY STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I ordered a sim card directly from them after reading the reviews. Not knowing that most of these positive reviews are probably paid. The reception of the phone was below par, nothing but dropped lines and conversations being cut. Customer service is below par, they are not there to help you. They say that they use t-mobile towers, but what they don't tell you is that their receptors are below the cement slab of the towers. 0 STARS
Everything was fine, until I lost my phone. I used that line as a business line with all incoming leads from $500/week in advertisement using that phone number. I purchased a new unlocked phone and a 7day trial card from target thinking that like all other carriers they could remotely switch my service to it. I was wrong. I was informed the ONLY thing I could do was order a new physical card to be mailed to me taking anywhere for 2-7 business days at 7 days I began calling, now they couldn't find the order no record of it. But instead of just sending a new one at that point they continuously said it was a problem "on the back end" the back end team would contact me within 24 Hr that went on for 3 days no results. And still no service. Even though the service was just renewed and paid for 3mo I ended up having to port the number to another carrier. Customer service is the absolute worst the fact that they cannot get you a replacement phone or SIM card without sending it to you through the physical mail is ridiculous. My advice would be if you're going to get this service don't lose or break your phone or you'll go without it for a month.
Truthfully, it has been a nightmare with Mint Mobile/T-Mobile. We followed all of the steps to verify phones and connections and have had nothing but trouble. In my opinion, this is false advertising. I had no phone service for the first week so I couldn't even call to put into motion cancelling the service. I just had a tech person walk me through steps to fix another issue ( not receiving texts from Verizon Iphone users) and now my phone wont reboot. I am filing a complaint with the FCC and BBB. In addition, I am not approving the charges on my credit card. I will pay for the spotty service and not receiving texts ($3.75/week) until I activate my new phone, but not a penny more I would suggest you all do the same. Ryan Reynold's might be a cutie, but his company sucks!
Mint customer service reps in online chat:
-asked me in a couple instances for information I just told them
-were sometimes rude
-were generally dragging their feet instead of trying to be helpful
-were unreceptive to constructive criticism
Thank you Mint Mobile, for making it easy to transfer cell# from other carrier, mint mobile is efficient and understand the reason of your call and make it happen, in addition their fees are very affordable. Customer service excellent. Happy client 10/27/23 Lupe
Disappointed! I guess I am naive and partially not so smart but I fell for the Ryan Reynolds charming hook! I am a 55+ year old phone user. I didn't read the fine print. The plans in the end are no different than they are for people who are under 55. It's just a hook the $45 for 3 months. It's not every 3 months for 55+ /seniors which is an economical good choice! I was thrilled that Mint Mobile had a 55+ plan. However if you cannot drop a $180+ payment (which is the very basic basic plan 5gb a month to get the $15 a month savings) after the first 3 months this company is not for you! If you are on a fixed income as many seniors are on in their golden years this company is not for you! The $45 dollars is a hook! The cheapest plan after the 3 months is $75 for 3 months which is $25 a month. You will not benefit from the $15 a month after the first 3 months unless you have big money to spare. I am now on the hunt for a simple sim plan way cheaper than the overall Mint Mobile company is offering. I hope Ryan Reynolds soccer team keeps winning cause his Mint Mobile Team is not!
I am appalled by Mint Mobile. I had our plans for 60 days and could never connect and use them. I tried with the chat bots for 20 hours and never got it solved. I tried calling and got disconnected every time. They never successfully got us hooked up and never refunded us because they deemed it past the 30 day refund period. I regret every minute I spent trying to get Mint Mobile to work.
In March 2023 I signed up for Mint but the employee did not activate my eSim card. I was charged for 3 months of using their service even though I still had my old phone plan active and wasn't even using Mint's service. They finally activated my eSim card in June 2023 but refused to refund the previous 3 months. The new eSim had significant technical issues in which I spent 8 hours chatting with various employees on how to solve issues such as: the wifi was not connecting, texts would not send, then images would not send, then I could not text any android users. The employees hung up on me and kicked me out of the online chat over 10 times so I ended up talking to over a dozen different employees until I could find ones that would not hang up on me.
Now, in October 2023, over 8 MONTHS later, they finally solved all of my technical issues but still refuse to give me a refund even though I've spent so many months not able to use the full service that I've been paying for. I want a refund or a voucher. Even then, I'd only give a max of 3 stars for how awful the service experience has been. The fact that I was hung up on so many times and never was called back is extremely unprofessional. I never was disrespectful or rude to any of the employees so I do not understand why I was treated that way. The service has been fine otherwise, at least when I am texting iPhone users.
DON'T DO IT. This is a bait and switch. I wanted to pay up front for 12-months to lock in the price. Somehow my (3) cards would not go through. I even called my bank and they said that there's no problem on their end. The rep said, "let's send it through for 3-months", imagine that, it went through. Afterwards, I looked at my account and it said that after 3-months my 2-lines would go up to $75! I think they deliberately said that my card wouldn't go through for 12-months so they could charge me more after the initial 3-months. Customer service reps could not speak English. TERRIBLE customer service. BIG MISTAKE. Huge trouble switching from old provider to new provider, my phone doesn't work correctly with Mint Mobile. I really regret doing this. Save yourself.
Mint Mobile is the slowest internet service provider I have ever used! I can see the hay bales fly buy as I wait ten minutes for a page to load, I'm not exaggerating, it really is this slow. I haven't used the phone service yet, but I'm sure that it will be bad, based on past reviews. If you don't want to pull your hair out in frustration, and have nothing better to do but waste your time, buy a Mint Mobile subscription.
You can get as much internet as you want, but it's not working. The speed is so slow, that you just can't use it.
Answer: NO, NO, NO! They have limited hours, even for "chat help". If and when you get ahold of someone, they're inconsistent, inconsiderate, robotic, and they have no record of your previous attempts to get resolution! They make you start all over from the beginning each and every time. Plus, they LIE to you when they say it's "all taken care of."
Answer: If they're legit, I'd like to see them prove it. No brick & mortar, mostly robots and simps for support. No wonder Ryan Reynolds took the money and ran!
Answer: Yes us mobile is better if u can use CDMA type phone on the Verizon system it is faster although it is nothing to jump up and down about it is better.
