We had 4 reels of super 8 film taken back in the early 70's converted to digital. Their great to look at and Legacybox made it easy to do. They provide all the information on how to process your order and made it seamless.
So easy! I had 16mm, VCR tapes, boxed them up with supplied box and labels. I choose "thumb drives". Wonderful!
I received my digital download in September and expected to have a backup files for one year. In December, I received a bill for $85 for another year of backup. I called and spoke with the customer service person and she told me that I did indeed have another year until December 20,2023. I received a refund. I then got another email in January saying didn't I want to backup my files.It took me a week of phone calls and emails in order to get someone to speak with me about the situation. Once again I was told that yes I did indeed have backup files until December 20th 2023. When I went to check on my files today, they were not accessible to me. So once again I'm going to have to battle with phone calls and emails to try to get this resolved. Very frustrating and unacceptable.
I paid for 50 items to be converted. Just received my box back and 24 DVDs were not converted and no refund pending. Also quality is worse than the originals supplied. I will be filing a complaint with my credit card company. I would not recommend this service.

Seeing our old home moives again was a blessing to my wife and I. The early life shots of kids, grandkids and pets made for a great evening of memories and entertainment. We just added popcorn!
Love the Legacybox service. I've had audio cassettes, slides, and DVD's digitized. The staff at Legacybox is caring and very communicative.
The Worst Dont Do it! I payed extra to get all the tapes converted for Christmas and started in Ocotber, I was able to give this gift as a Valentines day gift. Also they give NO support after spending almot 1000. $$$$ they wont even respond to an email in a timly way or help me at all. Dont waste you time or money here.
They couldn't convert my media and did not refund me properly. I've called four times and waited on hold for over 20 minutes and no one answers the phone. When I texted them - they refunded a card I no longer had. I told them this and they said it would appear in my bank account 10 days from now; however, the refund stated VISA ending in X. I told them this and they said "as stated before you'll receive it in 10 days" I've never even given them my bank account info! Now they will not respond at all and it's been two days. I think it's extremely unprofessional & now I have to jump through hoops to get my money back for media they couldn't even convert.
Customer service non-existent, dvd quality was snow and static, took from October to January to complete and would not contact us back, no customer service number, just run around with emails.
On the other hand they are great about sending texts on current specials…even though they cannot produce the work?
Paid $278 for their 20 item box. Didn't receive an email for instructions. Tried to contact them & no response to email. Called the number & could not get a hold of them! Grrrr! I decided this was off to a bad start so I emailed them to cancel my order & provide a refund. They gave me a runaround on that. Took 3 weeks to get $206 back & I was furious! Contacted them as to why I was shorted $75 & they said it was a restocking fee! THEY ARE HORRIBLE! DON'T USE LEGACY BOX!
I mistakenly request a large box for 38+ items. I assumed they DEVELOPED and transferred film to a thumb drive or disk. My checking account was immediately charged $629.99 with additional fees that total $703.24. Within a day or two, I messaged Legacybox.com, stating that almost all of my order was undeveloped film. I requested a refund and after a few messages back & fourth, I was messaged that we would receive a refund will arrive in 5 to 10 days. It has been weeks and we haven't received any thing further or a refund. These images were from many years of family film. Our hope was that some photos would be able to be developed and transferred to usable media before our 50th wedding celebration on March 3rd. Please refund our $703.24, as this is a lot of money for a couple on social security.
Legacybox simply forgot to include a number of my discs in their mailing back to me. More frustrating, they are not available by phone, simply cannot even leave a message for callback. Their message is that they are too understaffed, call back later. Later is never any better. Avoid this vendor.
I sent in my irreplaceable tapes and vids over 4 months ago. They never communicate or respond to emails or voicemails. If you choose the callback option they never call you back. It says 10-12 weeks on the worst case to transfer and return materials. They only responded when I contacted the BBB and offering me rush priority service after almost 4 months with no contact whatsoever except daily marketing emails. They made excuses about being short staffed. When the DVDs and USB stick arrived half the videos these incompetents sent back were blank and many videos like my wedding video I know is good were missing. Many videos are recorded in quick scan mode with nothing but snow and static. You can see how the operator is holding the wheel. No quality control was done. No pre inspection of the tapes was done and of course they charged me 100s of dollars for blank videos. I am reporting fraud with Amex and demanding a refund. You would have to be insane to send these people your legacy irreplaceable family treasures and videos. Go to a local place you can get them back at least. This is a factory making McDonalds quality transfers that take forever and then the work is rushed. I would like to see this compnay shut down.
Some films were from 1929 and we were able to enjoy for the first time as several generations passed.

Purchased kit online on 1/26/23. Kit arrived 1/31/23. Wanted to order additional DVD sets with my order. Called customer support, told I would get a call back. No call back. Emailed them the evening of 1/31 outlining my wish to order additional DVD sets, other than the automated "we received your email response," no email response. Called again on 2/1 and signed up for "text message" support. Received a text message "Thanks for contacting Legacybox! How can we help you today?" I returned a text outlining my issue. As of the writing of this review, no text response either. And, this is to order additional items, if they don't respond to something that will make them more revenue, imagine if I have an issue that doesn't bring them revenue. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! This is not a good start; I haven't even sent in my media yet!
We sent our older 8mm tapes from our children's early years and they were sent back digitally to us. We were then able to transferred them to a thumb drive! So thankful the memories are not lost.
These 16mm reels have been in the family storage box for decades. Not knowing what to do or who to trust with them seemed overwhelming. After researching many options, we decided to trust Legacy Box. These films meant the world to my parents so I was nervous. Legacy Box kept me informed every step of the way! Let's just say that they exceeded our expectations! If I could hug them I would! Thanks so much for the wonderful memories from the 1950's and 60's...we will be using this service again soon!

Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
