I am very pleased with their service and the resulting Download, DVDs and Thumb Drives. I know that I would never have taken the time necessary to attempt to preserve all of our pictures and movies.
Hello Matthew! Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are so happy that you decided on us to take on the task of preserving all of your memories!
I believe the last time I saw our families 8mm videos was 30+ years ago. Thanks to LegacyBox my family and I can now view them anytime we want. What a treat!
Hello Kim! We are so happy we could assist you in preserving such precious memories. We understand how exciting it is to be able to view such special times whenever you want so we are so glad we could be a small part of that treat!
A great way to save memories! Legacybox was easy to use and putting everything on DVD is certainly a better way to store your memories.
Hi Dawn! Thank you so much for your review. We strive to make our process as positive and simple for our customers as possible so we are so happy to hear that you had that experience with us.
We had ten old mini cassettes and didn't even know what was on them. What an awesome time we had sitting down and watching family birthday parties and Christmas mornings from many years ago. Worth every penny.
Hi Dennis! We are so happy to hear that we could assist in you reliving such precious memories. Thank you so much for the review and for using our service!
I had 10 mini DV tapes from my daughter's childhood. I tried to digitize them myself but could get all of the connectors and cables that were needed, so I gave up. I purchased the Legacy Box and mailed in my tapes. I had previewed them all to make sure that they all had content on them. One only had a few minutes of video with the rest static, hide sight I should not have sent this one in. So I'd recommend you a preview before you submit. It took a few weeks until the status should processing, but once it was in processing I received an email in only a few days with my digital download. Thank you for preserving our family's memories.
Hi, Sandra! Thanks so much for providing this feedback for us! We are so happy to help with preserving your family's memories!
I had heard about Legacy Box on the radio and Everytime the commercial came on I received this promoting to send my tapes in. Them I came across a Groupon with a discount, and I jumped on it! I sent 20 videos to have them copied into MP4 format. My old camera would not work to view the film and I wasn't sure how they would turn out. I was truly amazed at the quality of the videos. They turned out perfect! They are so fun to watch again.
The company was great to work with and I got them back sooner than I was expecting. Safe and secure. They were great to send emails and keep me informed of the progress and mailings of my videos. I would highly recommend them to you.
Now I want to find some software to edit the tapes into small segments as they have multiple events that I would like to Separate.
Hi, Patti! Thank you so much for the amazing feedback. We are so gracious to be able to help you view your old videos! For editing videos, I would recommend Openshot.org!
Great way to preserve memories. Painless and quick service. I would recommend them to friends and use them again.
Hi Michael! Thank you so much for taking time to leave a review. We are so pleased that you are happy with the service you received from us and we appreciate that you would recommend us to your friends and family. We are always excited to help preserve special memories.
I've heard their add on the radio numerous times, and decided to send in my collection of mini dv tapes, i read the bad reviews on problems they've had with these certain tapes, but still gave them a shot, figuring my tapes weren't very old and haven't been watched a lot, but lo and behold, after a 3 month wait, we got an email saying that they started the process, and then another one stating that there was some issues with some of the tapes but was going to process them anyway, then i was sent a link to download my videos (these emails were all sent on the same day and a couple of hours apart) so out of the 25+ hours of video i sent them, I received about 2 hours back.and half of those were grainy. On a side note: we ran all 13 tapes back through our camcorder when we received them back and there was no problem at all with any of them? So people... PLEASE! Be aware!
I sent several loose photos, I did receive email advising that some of the things I sent could not be used but not clear on which ones. The service was really slow... several weeks and months. The quality of the media that I got back was not great... very poorly organized. Surprised at this lack of organization. The thumb drive works, but is poorly organized and difficult to navigate. For the cost, I was disappointed. I will use the service again and see if it gets any better because I like the concept... but certainly performed well below my expectations for the first impression.
I sent some old reel-to-reel audio tapes to Legacybox to transfer to modern media. When I play these tapes on an old reel-to-reel tape player, I can hear them just fine. After 10 weeks of waiting, I received some audio CDs, a flash drive and a digital download. The audio on all these is almost non-existent, even turned up all the way. I wanted to transfer these tapes so my 93 year old blind dad could enjoy them, since he can't work the old tape player. What a disappointment and a waste of my time and money!
Just received my 2 Legacy boxes. Until now, everything appeared to be service oriented and organized. Unfortunately, the service we paid for to have 8 mm video tapes converted is a failure. I want someone to call me and fix this or a refund. I wish I read these reviews first! Legacybox, we are disappointed with several issues:
1. Most (75%) of our submitted 32 tapes for conversion to both CD's and a flash drive had a red sticker advising us that " there was a tracking issue that didn't meet their normal quality standards". And you didn't cut down the cost?!?! What am I paying for if 3/4 of tapes are returned back!
2. To check the quality of our tapes ourselves we replayed the 8mm tapes on our 8mm player, as well as the video camera playback and the tapes are clear and play perfectly with no issues. I need to understand more here by discussion vs. send me my box with not much conversion and stickers.
3. One of our tapes had a sticker that there was mold or other similar issue that was unable to be converted. What mold? What machine are you working with that tells you these things. This tape played perfectly for me now...
4. Our tapes were returned as a mess. They did not rewind them, theY put them back in wrong boxes, and de-faced red stickers across our own identification labels which required us to review the tapes to identify them properly. Two hours later... we finished reorganizing. Again, do us a favor and keep it organized for our own memory.
5. There is no chapter search, just fast forward. So. I can't even move quickly from section to section. The marketing for Legacybox is so sentimental about caring and converting special memories however, the manner in the way our memories were returned did not show ANY care, concern, or consideration.
Beware before sending your memories...
I have reviewed 6 DVDs (there are 23 more I have not viewed), one of the ones I did review had nothing on it but static, the other 5 I have reviewed all have tracking lines through most of the videos. When the tapes were viewed on a player, the tracking could be cleared on a player, obviously no way to do it on a DVD... wondering if your technicians watched the recording, or if they just plugged it in a left the room.
Where there aren't tracking lines, the videos are pixel lated.
I spent almost $200 for this package, and it isn't what I expected.
I entrusted this company with the last images I had of my late wife. They had advertised with some of my favorite radio personalties so, though I felt they were pricey, that they were upstanding. I had hoped to present my children with with lasting images of a mother they had lost 15 years ago. What a tremendous mistake that leaves me in a depression that these precious images are lost and a voice permanently silenced. Not having heard from Legacy Box for months I started an odyssey over four months in the traveling. This was after being shifted from agent to agent, emails not returned, numerous promised return phone calls never made. After hammering their useless customer service agent weekly they finally admitted they had no internal tracking procedures and that a 'search' had not turned up my tapes. They admitted they were giving up and that they weren't going to do anything else. Oh, and they were kind enough to return my money the week they admitted to their incompetence.
Remember, Legacy Box does not care even the tiniest little bit for your precious memories. They suffer no penalty, offer no insurance. They move on to the next victim of their scam and pray not to be exposed.
Take your memories to a local vendor. At least you will know your materials arrived, you will know what building they are in and have a face to blame.
I sent LegacyBox three separate jobs. One of them was my father's old music tapes to digitize. They lost the tapes and the digital versions. I can deal with the long processing times but not with losing the memories that they claim to preserve. On top of losing the materials, their customer service never responded to the ticket I opened about the missing items. Awful customer support.
These guys are really poorly run. I sent my files into them March 29th. It is now July 9th and i've got nothing. They have sent conflicting messages like - "We received your shipment" and "We're processing the shipment" only to see another message a few weeks later saying "Good News we just received your shipment". I can't get any response from them when I inquire other than "we're behind" - and in the meantime - they have the digital assets and my money and I've got nothing. Stay away - very very very poor service... Such a shame
I can't even begin to describe how much it means to me to have these precious memories so beautifully and easily accessible. Thank you, thank you Legacybox. You're doing amazing work.
Hi Keren! Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. We are very much grateful to help you in preserving those memories that are so precious to you!
I sent 14 VHS tapes do be digitized. I'm grateful that none of them were damaged in shipping because the quality on many of the DVD's that I received back was so poor that I had to perform the same process using Roxio Easy VHS To DVD 3 (for under $40). This and a VHS player were all I needed to create a much higher quality of video and audio file than what I received back. Legacybox needs to maintain their equipment better and to review their finished product for quality before returning to their customers if they care at all about the service.
For example, a friend recorded a memorable event, but the product I received from Legacybox captured everything before and after the ten seconds of the accomplishment. The 10 second static was so well timed, it seemed almost deliberate. I'm thankful that the VHS was not damaged so I was able to record it to file. Other DVD's I received were so useless for both audio and video that I almost threw them away, but I'm keeping in case Legacybox wants to refute my claim. I'll give them credit for communicating status by sending 20 e-mails in the 77 days they had my tapes.
Took forever (10) weeks and when returned did not receive my order of DVD sets, thumbdrive and digital download is incomplete.
I sent them 10 VHS tapes. And only got 4 converted due to damage, bad quality and whatever other reasons they gave. Of course the quality is bad. Theyre VHS. They didnt try very hard to get them converted. They still work in a VCR. They collect money up front and door a poor job. Use someone else if possible.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at [email protected] if there is anything else we can help you with!
Answer: Hello, thank you for reaching out to us! Yes, the digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at [email protected] if there is anything else we can help you with for a more prompt response time!
Answer: Hello Lowell, We are a 1:1 transfer company meaning what is on your original will also be on your digital output. We do not offer any editing or enhancements. The digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. You can also request multiple copies when placing your order as well. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at [email protected] if there is anything else we can help you with for a more prompt response time!
