I do NOT recommend.

Very poor communication. I got my order back. Over half of everything was not even scanned or digitized. The thumb drive is useless if you have a computer older than 2018 (that would have been good to know) and they don't include any communication as to why over half of my material was not included. Additionally, even the ones that were included were not complete, only partial. And they recommend that you label each bar code so that when you get it back you can see which file is which, but they don't label them after all of the work of doing it. They labeled several items as "This item has some existing damage". They are OLD photo's - no kidding. And the VHS tapes that they claim have "existing damage work just fine in my VHS player. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone. What a rip off. I could have had a better job done locally. Poor quality, poor communication, - I agree with several others, don't waste your time.

Legacy Box understands that older media is precious memories that a family don't want to lose and they take the time to handle it with care.

They kept me informed of each step of process and even let me know that some of my grandmother's films were not in best quality. They understood I still wanted them no matter condition.

This has been a great experience and everyone I had communication with was very helpful and cared about my satisfaction. Now Days that is Key to success.

Legacybox was able to recover a 16mm movie from 1946 that was in a tornado in 1983. The film had been soaked by the storm, so the film was stuck together. I had little expectation of being able to ever watch this movie from my childhood again. I was about four years old when this movie was taken, and the last time I saw it was when I was about eleven (1954). It is hard to describe the excitement I had when I got an email with a link to a digital copy of the entire film. A few days later I received the film and a DVD as well. I have shared the link with relatives and told many people about the outstanding service Legacybox provided.

In short, I sent two tapes into Legacy Box. One was great, just as expected, put both digitally and on a thumb drive for me. The second was someone else's video. Unfortunately, they do not bother to check the final product. They would like to me to re-send my tape in to start the 1.5 month process over again, but lucky me they gave me a little bit of a refund. I now have to (as I would never send them anything again) purchase my own equipment and attempt to do this myself. Don't bother. It's SO easy and SO simple for them yet they cannot handle it.

The advertisement and promo are very misleading as Legacy Box does not value customer service. Legacy Box has a zero tolerance on refunds and persuade you to buy all modes of transfer when they are aware the product quality is poor and would be considered unacceptable by the consumer. Would not recommend.

Customer service is our number one priority and I wholeheartedly apologize if we fell short of your expectations. I just wanted to provide some clarification regarding the services that we offer. We are a 1:1 transfer company, meaning the quality of your originals will directly reflect the quality of your digital output. If for some reason it did not, we are always more than happy to work with you to come to a resolution. While you do have to choose ONE output to have your analog items transferred to, there is absolutely no pressure or obligation to purchase multiple outputs. We give the option for those is would be most conducive for, but again there is no obligation to purchase additional outputs. The photo that you attached is an email from our production team just letting your know that while your items did arrive with some pre-existing damage, they were able to transfer it to the best of their capabilities in order to preserve your memories. I gave 1 star because there was no option for zero. We sent VHS tapes to be converted and discovered after numerous emails and phone calls they were "lost" in their "secure" warehouse. They claim to use sophisticated tracking systems, not true. Our tapes were lost 1 year ago and we are still sending emails and making phone calls to customer representatives who keep saying they are still looking. They never contact us for updates, they respond only after we leave numerous messages. When I spoke with one of the founders he gave us the same run-a-round, and failed to follow-up with updates. If you value your memories DO NOT trust Legacy Box

Terrible company

My experience with Legacy Box has been terrible. They don't even deserve 1 star. I received an email that my vhs videos and reel to reel tapes were received on June 5th, there were very few emails in between then and Sept. 14th when I received the DVDs and CDs. I sent 6 vhs and 4 reel to reels to be converted into DVDs. Upon trying to reach the company for feedback/questions no one ever answered the telephone. When you press 2 to speak with an agent you get a message that says "no support agents are available to take your call, please call back later" and when you attempt to call back there is still no answer. When my package arrived back to me it contained some CDs with poor quality music (which I didn't ask for and care not to keep their junk) and the 5 DVDs I did receive 3 read "bad disc", and the other 2 were of such poor quality that one I could hardly see and the other one color was so bad that it looked like it was and old movie in black and white. I feel as though I was taken for my money. I would not advise anyone to use this company. They could at least sent a letter with an explanation alone with the return of my Vhs and reel to reel. I'm sure they are not answering the telephone because so many people are demanding their money back. Please do not use this company, if they keep on like this, I am sure that they will be out of business soon. They are wrong! They obviously do not have morals, they are messing up people personal memories.

Return Time Issues

I send 8mm film and VHS tapes to be converted and they were received at LehgacyBox on June 5th. I received the 8mm film conversion after about 12 weeks. The 8mm conversions returned were great and I enjoyed seeing them after 50+ years. The price was certainly right and all communications with the company were responded too very timely with the answers to my questions. Bam still waiting for the VHS tapes to be returned. 8-10 weeks was quoted and this is now nearly 15 weeks. I am hoping the VHS tapes converted are of similarly good quality.

Pleasant Old Memories
September 11, 2020

I was very pleased to see my engagement party and wedding again. My children and grandchildren will be thrilled to see their grandparents wedding and old vacation films. They won't believe what they looked like when they were that young. I am glad I decided to put my films on dvd since it is so much easier to watch.

Couldn't be happier!

This is my second time using Legacy Box. I loved what they did so much I decided to use them again for more home movies I found. Not only did they take excellent care of my stuff, but they even were able to get the footage off of a damaged tape. These memories mean the world to me. Both of my parents are deceased and being able to hear their voices again and visit these memories whenever I want fills my heart with so much joy. They have the best customer service. If I had questions, comments, or concerns they got back to me in a timely manor and were extremely helpful. Working with them was a great experience and I recommend them highly!

Don't get your hopes up!

I have to say, although Legacy Box does not claim to produce better quality videos than you've had before, I was very unimpressed with the video files I received back. I waited over two months for my videos to arrive (no big deal) and it was a huge disappointment when they were finally delivered. For a company that boasts having all the latest technology in preserving videos, the copies of my videos were not any better than if I were to get a VHS player and watch them at home myself. In fact, I feel like the copies were the same as watching on a VHS player if not a little worse, and the volume level is unacceptable! Mind you, all of my VHS videos are from the mid to late 90's, yet all of the videos came back marked "this item has existing damage". Once again, I know they do not claim that they will restore your videos, but then again what is the point of claiming that you have the best technology and all these facilities to convert your videos. I cannot even imagine what you would receive back if you had any videos that were any later than The 1990's. Videos from the 80's? Good luck! Also, it would be very helpful if you received some sort of master list invoice of the status of the videos you sent in, instead of just getting a box with a bunch of tapes labeled "this item has existing damage". Legacybox sends files via Google Drive (weird) and I had several videos that could not be opened in this application. I had to reach out to Legacybox to get support on how to properly view/download the files. If you are charging for a premium service and then providing a product that cannot be enjoyed directly in the package they send back to you, what is the point. The customer service was good in troubleshooting the files, but it seems like not being able to open the files via Google Drive is a reoccurring problem on their end. So figure out a different way to send the files! Save your money and the hope for your videos and just buy a VHS player yourself. Seriously!

Sometimes the files are too large to play via googles parameters so they just need to be downloaded first. Google may change their parameters one day in order to accommodate larger files, but at this time, they just need to be downloaded. This is a safety feature for you! Thrill my kids
September 2, 2020

My KIDS are 53 and 54 yrs now. The films were where they were about 5 and 6 you talk about happy happy kids. They pointed out stuff we all forgot about plus some great memories. I am so glad I decided to do this trial run, because I have Lots more I plan on gathering. The little flash drive in on my key ring how convenient when traveling

We have sent quite a number of our family memories (videos mainly) to Legacybox for preservation and they have done a wonderful job! The quality from old videotapes was amazing (did not play on my tape player that well before). Having these memories digitized will help them last for a very long time and make them much easier to share with family members. The quality of work, the customer support, and the detail instructions made this all simple and rewarding. I am very grateful for the excellent service Legacybox provides!

Don't waste your time
September 30, 2020

All they do is put the tape in and hit record. No enhancements and they do not break up the segments of video on the tape into individual files. Somehow, they managed to record a file from the smaller HD 8 mm tape over video from a standard 8 mm in the same file. Customer service offers no warranty and explains they do not do enhancements and they do not monitor the video reproduction. No offer to make thing right. I had to explain in writing several times what was wrong which tells me they don't even have the time to read emails for content.

Issues for legacy box, 3 months to get back terrible quality. Several of my films were from the early 1990's, not that old. Attached photo shows how my films were returned to me. Pretty shabby, and careless handlIng. Will try Costco next time

Very happy!

Decided to have 8mm tapes transferred to DVD's as Christmas gifts for my kids. Was extremely easy to do, they basically do everything for you. It did take over 3 mos but was worth it and hope my kids enjoy their memories also. Waiting for the next arrival of transferred tapes! Thanks Legacybox.

At first I was unsure about sending my treasures away. I Needed to have my films put on something to save them. They were starting to disappear I could not show them on my projector due to them burning. I received the box to send my family movies back quickly. I sent them in quickly I was informed they were received. I was happy that they had arrived. I got concerned when I had limited information but reached out and was continuously updated.It took longer then I was expecting. But with the corrona virus I understood it taking longer then I expected. When I received my package back. I had all my old family movies returned and the thumb nail of family super 8 movies. I immediately plugged the thumb nail into the tv and was immediately behond satisfied the perfect job that was done was amazing. I am so satisfied I will be sending another group of family films soon. I Have thank this company greatly for the wonderful job
