I had loads of various media types - film, VHS, Mini-DV, etc. - and great intentions to get them digitized. Years passed, and then... LegacyBox! A few weeks, and I've
Got EVERYTHING on flash drives, plus my family can download whatever they want from the "cloud". Cannot recommend LegacyBox too highly.
35mm slide digitization quality was disappointing. All pictures were cropped on all sides 5-10%: people near borders were partially amputated; some mountains lost their tops. The color quality was poor: greens were lacking some yellow and looked dull; some blues and greys tended toward purple; sky shades (e.g. Alpenglow) were washed out. Two slides were superimposed. The clarity (focus) was reduced. On the positive side: the turn-around was quick (1-2 weeks); all slides were returned in good condition; if you aren't concerned with quality and just need an image for memory, the images were adequate for memory recall.
I tried digitizing the same slides by projecting them on a 20x30 white board and taking photos with an iphone. The quality was better (but not great): no cropping; better color reproduction; somewhat better clarity in some cases.

I have been using Legacybox for all of my video transfer needs. They have been able to transfer all of them, except 1 that was slightly damaged. I will continue to use them.

Me and my sister sent in ten tapes, they said the quality was too poor, duh that's what you advertise that you fix, so we got our tapes back and no refund. The hassle of getting the almost 200 dollars back wasn't worth it to us, but it's disheartening. Life is tough enough, like come on people, good job guys. Another reason to be more cautious of everything and everyone, bravo

Although it took quite a while to get our videotapes back with everything transferred to DVD and Thumb-drive, it was well worth it. They informed us at each step from arrival at the facility to when the order was completed. We now have all of our memories preserved and now can hand them down to our kids as we got two DVD sets.

I purchased this from Groupon. I am so happy I did. My father passed away 2 years ago and he loved to sing and could of been a professional. He made an audio tape for me when I got married I transferred to a cd. This company made my feel so at ease sending this tape into them. They communicated each step of the process and delivery. I was so happy to get my box back. The company brought back my fathers voice to me. I am forever thankful and was the best purchase I ever made. Thank you LegacyBox for keeping the memories alive!

What can I say other than my Legacybox experience was as advertised. Everything happened just as they said it woulkd - from the sending of the tapes, notifications of every step in the process, and the return of the items and the downloads and DVDs. Legacybox is the real deal.!

The whole experience with Legacybox was 1st class from the 1st box I received to send my tapes to when I received them back. I had some questions before ordering which were answered quickly. I had old personally made music cassettes converted to CD's. The clarity is great! The only thing I was surprised about was the fact that, even though there were spaces between the songs on the tapes, the whole CD has just 1 track so I can't search for songs. Maybe that's not technologically possible at this point. I would use them again & definitely recommend them to anyone.

Using Legacybox was great. I am 66 and the films that I sent (old 8mm) were of my 1st birthday birthday and childhood. It was a very emotional experience for me when I watched my Dad & Mom, who passed long ago, interact with their child (Me) Legacybox was very efficient, everything was very smooth and easy. From sending the films in to receiving them back via email. I would highly recommend this company.

I had several VHS tapes converted by LegacyBox - the process takes longer than expected, and the ability to track progress is very limited. The quality of some files was really poor, LegacyBox said that's because the tape has degraded - but I recently found my old VCR and bought a cheap conversion kit and the quality of the video is fine. They didn't digitize some tapes at all because of adult themed content, but I was fully charged with the offer of a credit toward my next order - I won't have a next order because my tapes are done. I didn't know what was on the tapes which I recorded in the 90s but apparently someone had recorded some of the Playboy Channel so that was the problem. I understand about policy and all that stuff, but being charged fully isn't a good practice since clearly they didn't invest the time to do the conversion. The digitization is also incomplete on some tapes, if there was a gap or pause in recording they assumed the tape was done vs. let it play through. I am now digitizing every tape I paid them to do with better results at about 10% of the cost.

Buyer beware. My cousin shipped shipped 40 VHS tapes in December for conversion. He received UPS confirmation that the package had been delivered to the front desk. He called the company in January and were told they received the tapes and were working on the order. When he still had not heard from them or received the order in March he follows up and the company claimed they did not have the tapes. Not sure if they lost them or perhaps sent them to the wrong customer but all of his precious memories are gone. My cousin lost his brother last year to depression and he was getting these tapes converted as a surprise for his parents, not all the memories are gone as well as their son.
Once I was determined to digitize my VHS tapes, regardless of cost, I proceeded to try out Legacy Box. It was a pleasant experience... fast turnaround... over delivered... ease of adding new items where I was charged as they were received with my initial items... all in all very professional and efficient.

I purchased the box when this service started then moved and forgot about it. During quarantine and cleaning up I found it and was a bit skeptical to send all these memories but figured I don't even own a VHS machine so why not take a gamble. Well it was so worth it!
