I used Legacybox for the first time. It was so easy to use. The box arrived for me to put my tapes in. The instructions were very clear and then I was able to track the process online. Received the download super quick and really enjoyed getting to see my movies. I have already placed my second order and can't wait to get those back.
Did a great job preserving my old teen band tapes and put them on cd for me.
The online video files are good. It is nice to have a digital version of my old VHS tapes. The only improvement would be the turn-around time is slow... about 3 months.
I have a lot of 8mm film from almost 60 years ago and Legacybox put them on a disc for me. I just recently lost my husband and these films are such a treasure to me. The quality isn't the best but what can you expect after 60 years. I will treasure these so much and look back at a life well lived. Thank you Legacybox.

The Legacybox process was easy to follow and the end product provides us with up to date technology for storage and protection of our memories.
This was my first and likely only experience converting old film to digital but I found the process very easy. Legacybox kept me informed throughout the process and did what I think is as good a job as possible. The final product is somewhat grainy and to my dismay, those old films are every bit as boring as when I first shot them. I do a pretty good job editing still photos but am a novice in video editing. Without some serious editing, I think the digital version of those old films will hold little if any interest. But that's not Legacybox's fault. They run a very well organized operation and I would recommend them
I have used LegacyBox for a family research project where I archived hundreds of old photos and movies. I found the quality to be good overall and their customer service is prompt and helpful
I didn't mind that it took 5 months but what I do mind is that I paid a lot of money and didn't get much in return. The quality is very poor and no it isn't my tapes. Example, I have 3 mins of video and 2 hours of blue screen. Complete and total waste of my money. I sent in almost 20 cassette tapes, most are only mins of actual film and the rest blue screen. If I take the tape and put it in my old video recorder I can watch the video that is missing so it is there. SO UPSET and disappointed!
I sent them a bunch of dvds to convert. Turns out they received my box empty and rather than advise me of this they sent me an email saying my memories had been received safe and sound! Ten hours of my kids videos gone forever. And it's impossible it arrived empty. It was sealed properly and I'm 100 percent certain of this.
Address on box: 515 N Holtzclaw Ave Chattanooga, TN *******
Just got an email offer from "Kodak Digitizing Box" which sounds all too similar to LegacyBox. At bottom of offer is the above address which was the address on the actual box I sent my legacy box stuff to/received.
In Mar 2022, I placed an order for about 20 cassettes to be digitized to a thumbdrive. After months of robo-emails spewing fake happiness about the safety and efficiency of the operation, I sent an email and got a response on July 13,2022 that my order would be shipped back within 3 weeks. It has been 3 weeks and no order, and no money back, and no way of warning others. To say I am deepy disappointed that I didnt find this review website sooner is an understatement. Update: 8/13/2022 I finally got my thumb drive and am going through the contents (<1Tb). At this point, I'm glad I got my tapes back (20) and can only hope the thumb drive doesn't have a lot of corrupted files or files which can't be read by the music player. This was an extremely frustrating experience. Pls note I left reviews elsewhere but for the other sites' reasons, this is the only one I can update. I may be generous on the stars, but frankly I'm exhausted after dealing w/ this company and their litany of excuses and robo-emails
I wish I could give Legacybox a 5-star rating, but unfortunately I will have to add my review to the many others giving the company just one star. It took four months to get our original tapes back, along with the DVDs they made. Their excuses for the lengthy delay were that they were short staffed, it was their peak season, etc., but they assured me that my tapes were waiting in the production queue. After I finally said, "Just return our originals and refund our money," lo and behold, I got everything back in about a week. But the quality was terrible -- all the DVDs were pixelated, and one had only about 20 minutes recorded out of an hour and a half. Attempting to resolve the quality issue with them or to get a refund yielded no results. Granted, our tapes are old home movies and not A+ quality by today's digital standards, but our originals were perfectly satisfactory and certainly better than Legacybox's finished product. Perhaps they might focus more on their production and less on their constant emailing of special deals to try to attract new first-time customers. If you are considering using them, don't.
I purchased $125 worth os service to convert VHS tapes to a disc. Before entering my Groupon code, the cost was $159. After using my $125 discount, the cost went up to $175. Why would the cost be more when using Groupon? I used Legacybox 5 years ago to convert my grandfather's 8mm tapes and photos with success. If their policy is to charge more for Groupon users, I will not use them again.
1st set of slides were perfect - full picture and sharp -- second set of slides came back with a black border around them & not as sharp -- terrible, not a full picture -- you can't take this and go to shutterfly with them to get prints made because they will come out with a black border -- I called and was told to re-send them back in and they would fix - received my 2nd set back and they "still" came back with a black border on them causing the pictures to be smaller & they are not as sharp as my 1st set - called Legacybox and the lady told me that is the way they do it now even though it looks horrible and makes the pictures un-printable --- shame on Legacybox -- profits before quality
Overall, the re-production of my tapes came out well considering some were over 50 years old. Seeing all our parents, grandparents and other beloved deceased family members in these recreated tapes brought tears to our eyes and delighted our hearts!
I ordered my movie conversions April 18th, with the hopes of giving them to my daughter to play at her wedding. Well, the July wedding came and went with no movies returned. (7 weeks with a stated return time of 4-6 weeks). Just take that bull $#*! right out of your procesing description! I thought, I will give them to my daughter for her Birthday. For sure they will come by then. NOPE! AUGUST 15TH aprox. 16 weeks, and no movies! However, after counting the number of advertisements (57 and still counting) I realized they aren't processing my movies, they are creating ads, sales, and marketing their service. WHY? YOU CANT EVEN HANDLE THE JOBS YOU HAVE NOW. I'm starting to get a visual of 2 dudes in their mom's garage, converting our movies. STEAR CLEAR! I still don't have my movies and it's August 26th. WTF? Do not respond to me with the same form response about being the "busy season bla bla bla. You Suck!
Really pleased with the results. Transfer 8mm film to thumb drive and dvds. Many of our 8mm films were over 80 years old. Although there were some film quality issues with the originals, the end results were spectacular. Now we can sit down and view on pc or tv without having to find a projector and hope the bulb still works. Thanks again, Legacy Box.
Reviewing my recent order, 8/2022, I am overwhelmed by the memories. From 2002 -2008, I share with my siblings, who start to cry. Family members who have passed on, we can share. It's just wonderful! It is worth the money!
So far I've had 22 home videos converted to digital and I'm very pleased with everything from shipping, progress updates, quick turnaround to the quality of the completed videos. I have a few more to convert, then my children will have digital memories to cherish.
Legacybox and its staff have been most helpful to me in my first experience with digitalizing numerous almost antique 8mm family films that my father bequeathed to me before his death and asked that I seek to preserve them for the rest of my family. Considering the nature of these films and their age, Legacybox performed a first class job on coverting them. I and my children will be able to view myself and my sister as we grew up in the fifties and early sixties. Thank you!
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at [email protected] if there is anything else we can help you with!
Answer: Hello, thank you for reaching out to us! Yes, the digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit.
