The overall reputation of KitchenAid is significantly marred by consistent customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding product reliability and customer service. Many customers report frequent appliance failures shortly after purchase, with inadequate support during warranty claims and repair processes. Service delays, unhelpful responses, and difficulties in returns are common complaints. While some customers appreciate the aesthetic appeal of the products, the overwhelming sentiment is one of frustration and disappointment, leading to a strong recommendation against purchasing KitchenAid appliances. The company’s customer service approach appears to lack responsiveness and effectiveness, contributing to a negative overall experience.

I bought dishwasher it was around $1300. Less than one year the part is broken and I tried to order the part by phone. He sent me the wrong part and less than 5 minutes I called them to cancel and he said we are ready ship it. After I receive the wrong part, I try to return and I had to pay shipping and return label its more than the amount I paid for. Awful and rude customer service. Not responsible. Never buy kitchenaid again
Purchased 5 appliance at Best Brand Appliances in June of 2021. Was guaranteed a 3 month delivery date. 4 out of the 5 appliances were delivered within 5 months but we are still waiting on the stove/microwave combo wall unit. The latest ETA is Feb-March 2023. So frustrating and unacceptable. Sales reps at store have nothing to say. No one calls me with updates I have to keep calling to find out new/any info on the rest of my purchase.
Bought a mixer online and didn't end up wanting it. It was still brand new in the box. Called to return it and they said I had to fill out a paper online and take it to ups. I paid $40 out of pocket for shipping. They received it in 2 days. It then took them 3 weeks to process it. Finally received an email saying I would get my money back. But only the cost of the mixer. They were keeping my $30 I paid in taxes. They attached to the email was a link and on there it said about a return label for free. Wouldn't have been nice if they would have told me that when I first called. So now I'm out $70. Will never buy from kitchaid especially off their website. Again customer service is terrible.
A waste of money and time. No responsive customer care. They don't deserve even one star here as after spending more than $12,000 a couple of thousands, I wished I wouldn't spend money on their garbage products.
I purchased 5 appliances in Aug 2021, the kitchenaid cooktop I received in Nov 2021, has already been serviced 3 times by a technician. I am still waiting for an ETA on 2 other appliances, a wall oven and dishwasher. It is now Aug 2022 and still have no info on when my Wall Oven and Dishwasher are to arrive. I purchased them as a package in late Aug 2021 and was told to pay in full so that I would be placed in queue quicker to receive them. One year later I am still without these 2 appliances. I am tired of hearing the Covid excuses. Each time I call I am told the items are delayed another month. This is unacceptable. You have taken my money in full for over a year and knowing full well these appliances will take a long time to arrive, you as a vendor do not offer any solutions in the meantime to the customer. Shame on you. There is no customer service, and my experience in dealing with the customer service has been a terrible nightmare. I will NEVER buy KitchenAid products again, and I will tell everyone to do the same.
The design is flawed and every time you open and close the freezer door the cable bundle at the bottom is stressed by this action - this small gage wire eventually shears and then you have to replace the entire door which has the bundle - in my case it lasted 2 years and the cost is $1000 Of course Kitchenaid (aka Whirlpool) offers no relief - there is no recall (technician saw 2 others this month) as it is not a safety issue. BUYER BEWARE - DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT - and stay away from Whirlpool products until they resolve these consumer issues.
Last year I bought a KitchenAid french door refrigerator. The fridge itself seemed to be well designed and I was impressed with its features. Recently, after the 12 month warranty expired, I noticed that ice cream stored in the freezer was soft. I placed a thermometer in the freezer and found that the temperatures ranged from -10C to -13C (14F to 9F). This is much higher than the -18C (0F) set point that I chose. It seems that there is a serious problem with the freezer or the thermostat. The appliance repair technician was unable to fix the problem with the first call. I had to reschedule a second appointment where Whirlpool/KitchenAid gave me a service window for the afternoon. Unfortunately the appliance repair man called me in the morning to say that he would be coming in a half hour. I was out of the house at the time expecting him to arrive within the agreed-upon window. As a result I now have to wait for a third service call to fix the fridge. Given my experience with them, I would never recommend a Whirlpool/KitchenAid appliance to anyone. I still don't know if they will actually fix the problem or give me another excuse. Stay tuned.
Four year old ( to the day!) dishwasher model KDTE234GPS washer pump goes! I'm the only one in my house so it is not overworked! Kitchen aid offers no help except to give me 40% off a whole new dishwasher! Are you kidding me? The repair is half the price of entire machine. Oh yea, I could instead buy an extended warranty for $360. Unbelievable-NEVER again
December 17,2021
I'm back with an update to my no-good awful purchase of Kitchen aid appliances for my kitchen remodel. I have come to the conclusion that my pallet of appliances was dropped or they were seconds. They were all installed February 18,2015.
The newest replacement purchase, a refrigerator (it broke first part of December 2021, and purchased new one December 17,2021)
I purchased a stove, (I had to replace), cook-top (I had to replace) dishwasher I paid to have repaired and still have, a refrigerator (broke first part of December, and purchased new one December 17,2021). That leaves the microwave It has not been worked on and is still working.
I guess one out of five is a winner.
May I add, the only one I replaced from Kitchen Aid was the oven. I had picked another brand, however Kitchen Aid actually felt bad and prorated it.
Below is my PREVIOUS review:
November 11,2020
I am expressing my extreme disappointment with three of the five Kitchen Aid appliances I purchased for my kitchen renovation. I purchased a refrigerator, microwave, oven, induction cook-top, and a dishwasher. They were installed February 18,2015.
• June 2016, the oven stopped working. The problem was a quick fix. It was a warranty defect that should have been updated before it left the factory. It was a Fuse Thermal. Technician said discoloration from heat was noted.
• November 2017, the oven glass had chips on the inside and I paid for new glass and the service/labor charge.
• August 2018, the dishwasher light stayed on blinking. Dishwasher would not cycle. The dishwasher was repaired. One part was under warranty. I paid for the other part as well as the service/labor charge.
• December 2018, again the oven glass had chips on the inside.
O There was discussion if I needed another new glass, or an entire new door. I insisted there had to be a major problem with oven needing 3 repairs in 3 years and wanted answers. Kitchen Aid offered me a new oven at a prorated cost. So, I purchased a new oven. That was 2 ovens I paid for, as well as repairs.
• 2019, the induction cook-top was next on the chopping block. The large burner would not turn on and it was blinking a code that needed a service call. By this time, I was done. I used the smaller burners on the cook-top and got out a large portable cooking burner. I did this for a year. I finally called for a repair. I was told the large burner needed to be replaced. If that didn't work, I would need to get new controls. The total cost could be $900 plus.
O I paid the service call, and went to General Electric and purchased a new GE cook-top.
In four years, I bought 2 ovens and 2 cook-tops. UNACCEPTABLE and DISAPPOINTING.

3 hours trying to purchase a refurbished mixer. Site is down, coupons don't work, representatives indifferent.
4 years ago, I purchased from KitcheAid all of my kitchen appliances and I am very disappointed from the quality, especially from the side-by-side refrigerator. From day one I had to face with ice maker problems, and called technicians 4 times, each time it cost me $170 and they weren't very helpful (provided temporary solutions). The last time a technician came he said I need to replace the freezer's door for $1,800 because the icemaker was not working. I wanted to try and find the problem without needing to pay for almost a new fridge and was able to fix something with the wire in the back on my own (took me 5 minutes) and now it is working. I am extremely disappointed with their service, even more than the products themselves.
Worst Refrigerator we have ever Owned. We have nothing but problems with it. The appliance store we bought is from was great but Kitchaid is useless and unsympathetic. If this was a car we would have qualified for the lemon law. The ice make has broken at least 10 times. Every time kitchen aid say this is the fix for sure and then bang, it goes again. We have all kitchen aid appliances in our kitchen and the others seem good. It is a shame that Kitchen Aid will not back there product.
Think Twice before buying the Fridge.

Horrible. Bought brand new dishwasher. Over $1,000 they forced me to repair it even though right out of box it was broken. Been months and still not working and they are still forcing me to some out of town repair company. Rude on phone. Not helpful at all. Not sympathetic. And the repair company is just as bad. So I am out over $1,000 and I still have no dishwasher months later. They suck bad! Avoid at all costs.
Do not waste your hard earn money!
We bought all our major appliances from Kitchen Aid 6 years ago ONLY.
When it was delivered, the was an issue with the refrigerator. The delivery guys decided to take the complicate doors out in order to go through the door, which he did not have too. Doors would've fit perfectly without the handles only. Because of it, some how the fridge did not work well and the freezer kept over working and somehow we were unable to close the drawer property.
Now the little panel that control the veggies drawers temperature, stop working out of the blue. I called and I was told that they could send a Tech here for $140.00 a visit, not parts and not labor. Then I asked the Agent how much she thought will that run at the end of the Tech visit, she did not reply!
Then there is the range. When it was supposed to be delivered, it got delayed because the guy loading it to the truck, somehow, dropped it and broke the glass. They delivered a brand new one a couple of days later.
But then, after only 3 years, the cheap knobs started to peel off to a point that I cut finger. I called to complain and the Agent realizing it shouldn't have happened, sent replacement knobs. But only another 3 years later, the knobs are peeling off again!
I called know to request new knobs and the Agent said that they can send them to me but would cost me $84.49 EACH, plus S/H. I need 5 knobs!
I would never buy this brand again. Counter Top or Major appliances, never again.
For the price we paid for our appliances, it should last much longer then it did!
I am a very disappointed costumer for sure.
Kitchen Aid dishwasher cost 900 new in Feb 2019, dead June 2022. 28 months for a $900 appliance. Warranty and customer service are a joke. Avoid Kitchen Aid, they are just overpriced Chinese made junk pitched as some sort of luxury product. Total garbage, wish I could give them 0 stars.
I can only corroborate what others have already stated about KA's lack of customer support. If you were considering the ice cream maker please don't as they just split open and the coolant leaks out after a few uses. There are plenty of photos and reviews to support the fact that there is a design and manufacturing defect.
Kitchenaid do not recognise your consumer rights although these are displayed on their web site
Bought top of the line Kitchen aid Microwave, Refrigerator, Stive and dishwasher.
Under one year the microwave went, they had to replace all the boards etc took three weeks.
Now under one year of it working completely bad again.
The Refrigerator broke down with 1.5 years, they replaced both compressor twice and after playing their game they finally agreed to replace the unit.
We bought all Kitchen Aide in first house in 2015 and the did our kitchen over in new house and bought all new kitchen aide again. The person I sold our house to said the stove went and he to spend a lot to fix it.
DO NOT BUY Kitchen Aide. They sold out to the Chinese.
I called Kitchenaid on my new dishwasher not drying the dishes. The made me an appointment for th following week between 8-4 (ridiculous). Obviously the come was a no show. When I did get someone one the phone, the company doing the service I was informed that my machine was under recall for a faulty drying element. Kitchen aid neglected to mention that.
The service company informed me that they don't even have the part and will contact me when it is available! What a crock. If Kitchenaid would have been forthcoming I would have purchased a different machine.
Kitchenaid may make good equipment but they FAIL at customer service.
Standup mixer attachment seized first use causing 79.00 worth of damage to the mixer that I replaced the parts and kitchenaid would do nothing to reimburse. Never will I purchase another of their product which is Whirlpool.
Don't ever buy KitchenAid brand and don't ever shop for appliances at Lowes. I bought a KitchenAid stove range in Dec 2021 it stopped working after one week the oven was not getting the temperature beyond 150f I went to this Lowes store and asked them if I could exchange it to another name brand model. They said per appliances return policy it is 48 hours only return policy. I asked why wasn't this communicated with me at the time of purchase he answered that it is my responsibility to find out and search it on the Internet and they scheduled a technician after one week of my call. The technician ordered the ignition module that the stove needed but it will take one month to arrive.
I called kitchenaid to see if they will replace it to another model after numerous phone call I called their executive office and they said my only option is to wait and there is nothing they can do for me.
I paid $1500 for this stove and yet it is sitting in my kitchen for almist two months usless can't even use after one week of buying it.
