Major KitchenAid kitchen products do not last 5 years. KitchenAid may not have the replacement parts. Whirlpool products are much cheaper and appear similar.

We redid our kitchen about 5 years ago. Our KitchenAid dishwasher worked well. So, we thought as we go into retirement, we would spend the additional money to buy quality products and we purchased all KitchenAid: Refrigerator, Double Oven, Microwave, Gas Cook Top, and Exhaust fan. The Gas cook top and exhaust fan are great. However, the refrigerator needed to be replaced, the double oven required maintenance and the microwave key board stopped working. I received a discount to buy another refrigerator, I had an extended warranty on the double oven, and I tried to find out what part I needed for the microwave.

After spending several hours on the phone with KitchenAid (whirlpool), I was redirected the parts department (a third party), they cannot help me and I needed to contact a service person. I called back KitchenAid and they transferred me to a help line, after waiting several minutes, the recording said I can receive a call back, at the end of the day, the automated system told to me to schedule an appointment, I never received a call back. I called KitchenAid again and they told me a technician would not be sent out for the microwave, and the part was no longer available. They offered 25% discount off a new microwave. With shipping it was more expensive than buying it locally. I called back to find a microwave that would fit in our build in cabinets. I was told about a whirlpool microwave, much cheaper, same dimensions, and when I received it the only difference was that the KitchenAid had some more fake chrome and the KitchenAid. KitchenAid told me if they ship it FedEx there would be no cost for shipping. I bought it from Whirlpool because I wanted to be assured that it would fit in the cabinets. If you really want to buy KitchenAid products don't have a high expectation of customer service and buy Whirlpool, just use a pen to change the name from Whirlpool to KitchenAid.

DO NOT BUY KitchenAid
September 28, 2023

I spent $1,200 on a dishwasher and it was delivered broken. Not broken on or by delivery, but internal parts that were literally broken inside the unit. Home Depot is worthless also. They told me to call KitchenAid. KitchenAid said they would send the parts. It has been a month and still no parts. I cannot use this expensive hunk of junk. I called their customer "service" and demanded the part be overnighted. They simply said no and gave me an estimated waiting time of 12 to 14 MORE days. I have wasted my money. I am now going to return it. KitchenAid does not deserve my money, or anyone's money. DO NOT BUY KitchenAid!

And by last week (today is 9/26/23) I noticed RUST on the top of the door. Not just little spots. Pretty sizable spots that are kinda tucked under the counter where they are not as easy to see. KitchenAid won't do whatever it is that they need to do to fix it. NO WAY THAT I'LL EVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN

I bought Kitchen Aid appliances for my last house approx. 5 years ago ( Fridge>7000.00, Stove>5000.00, Dishwasher<2000.00, BBQ>500.00, Coffee Maker>200.00, Stand Mixer>700.00). The only thing that has not failed is the stand mixer. All the rest quit working just after the warranty expired, just over a year of service on all. I have owned a lot of houses with a variety of appliance makes and have never had such issues. If I could give a negative star rating, I most surely would.

We purchased a 30" 5 Burner Gas Cooktop (Model KCGS350ESS) in September 2021. We cook often and use the cooktop for its intended use. Recently we have noticed the burner caps becoming discolored. And this week, began noticing the black writing indicating the burner intensity and the KitchenAid log is chipping off. We keep the unit clean, and use care when we are using it.
I called KitchenAid and mentioned my concern. Was told by "Tay" that there is nothing KitchenAid will do because it is older than 30 days. We have NUMEROUS (2 stand mixers, knives, kettle, toaster) other KitchenAid appliances but if this is what happens with their products, we will definitely be looking elsewhere moving forward. I am emailing this review to KitchenAid. Their overall star rating is 1.6 out of 5 - I never knew their products got this poor of a review - we should have looked elsewhere before buying this. I would recommend everyone shop around - KitchenAid clearly isn't the name it used to be, and their customer service matches that poor quality.

I purchased a bowl lift. Had motor issues. Returned it purchased an artisan from Best Buy. After three months it wouldn't shut off. They had me return it sent another looks used and does not sound good. Used it twice. They won't give you a refund. At this point I don't want any of their products. I tried to Put a review in best but it was removed. I wasn't allowed to put a review on kitchenaid website either as I didn't purchase from them though it's their mixer and sent to Best Buy from them. Every review on best but says it's from a sweepstakes and kitchenaid don't trust the reviews or Best Buy either for that matter! The same thing happens on qvc if you look up the reviews for their products all come from the kitchenaid web site. Never again will I purchase their products. I'm on social security and can't afford to be out that kind of money.

Spent thousands expecting we were supporting American jobs and expected American high quality - first induction stovetop didn't work after 2 days, returned for another one, the second had 2 burners not working after 2 weeks. Dishwasher stopped working after 2 years. My kids looked at the interior dishwasher and saw "made in China parts". We need standards for the made in America sticker. I will never buy KitchenAid appliances again. Our relatives came at the holidays after we had the appliances for 2 months - saw us using our 2 coil electric burner cooktops on our countertop because our KitchenAid induction had only 2 burners working. They asked how much we paid for the non-working cooktop. KitchenAid stands by their mixers but not their appliances. We are going to scrap items and buy scratch and dent if another make. Some executive is getting rich after selling poor quality products at KitchenAid. People say their products are made to last a year under warranty coverage. Never again will I buy KitchenAid!

I purchased a $5000 KirchedAid refrigerator (model #KRMF706ESS) in 2020 and in less than three years it has broken down. I contacted them to repair it and they have come on 4 separate occasions now, replaced ALL the parts and it is still not functioning properly. It has been over one month and a half without a functioning fridge. We have spent so much money on spoilt food, gas going to the market daily and ice to keep in our cooler. They refuse to cover the full cost of the parts and labour (only offering a 50% discount), despite our terrible and costly experience. The customer service is poor and I would advise you to find a brand which stands by their products and customers.

Refrigerator
August 1, 2023

I purchased a high end refrigerator in April 2023.
The ice maker quit working. A repair person came out diagnosed the problem as the mister. The part was on back order with no date known when it would be available. I contacted kitchen aid and they were of no help. Buyer beware. I recommend you look for other manufacturers!

I purchased a Kitchen Aid side by side refrigerator to replace a 6-year-old Kitchen Aid refrigerator that had a freon leak. Based on the appliances matching we stayed with the same refrigerator. After 1 month it stopped making ice and dispensing water. They set up a service call with G&G and the day before they supposed to come, they changed the service call date because it didn't fit within their scheduling routing. I asked for another service provider, and they showed up on time and were very helpful. The problem was diagnosed to be the water valves were not working and had to be replaced. Parts were ordered and a week later the new valves were installed, and the water and ice maker worked again. A week later the water and icemaker stopped working again and we went through the service call process and again the valves were not working, and they had to be replaced. This would be 3 sets of valves in a matter of 2 months, which tells me there is something else that's shorting out the valves. I spoke to the Kitchen Aid customer service representative, and they refused to replace the appliance and said the valves need to replaced again. I asked to speak to supervisor and the rep declined to transfer me. Now I am stuck waiting for the next repair. The quality of KitchenAid refrigerators is awful to match the customer service. If you need a new appliance, run from KitchenAid and do your research to find a manufacturer that delivers high quality appliances and if there is an issue, they take care of their customer service.

Very dissatisfied
July 21, 2023

I requested from customer service a few extra clips to hold my stemware from titling over for my brand new dishwasher. I had to purchase the clips they wouldn't accommodate me. They're not interested in a good customer experience. Last kitchenAide purchase.

First, the gas range burners on the low setting are way too hot the burner flame is too high! The oven temperature fluctuates from 25 to 50 degrees cooler and sometimes hotter. I had it repaired twice still the same thing. The KitchenAid french door refrigerator makes an awful noise after a few months and it was repaired the noise came back again. In the drawer in the freezer, something is wrong with it if you pull the left side of the handle it drawer when you pull to open it makes a loud noise and feels like it is coming off the track but only on the left side of the handle this was also repaired the same thing happens. It is a shame when you spend thousands on appliances this is what you get. Tried contacting Kitchenaid and no response.

I was drastically mistaken in my assumption that spending more equaled getting better. I invested almost $10,000 in my appliances. The refrigerator has a factory-missing part, and it will take approximately 6 months to have it fixed.
The stove is another matter. I don't know what kind of material they used since it is SO difficult to clean. The flame can only go so high or so low; you must be extremely careful since this means that the cooker is frequently turned off, which may be quite dangerous when using natural gas. The flame starter ceased to function.
The bottom of the dishwashing machine started to corrode. Not even two years have passed. PLEASE refrain from wasting your money and time. NEVER EVER... even for free.

I made a mistake in purchasing two top of the line "panel ready" Kitchen Aid dishwashers when building my own custom home. As builder of thousands of homes I have used whirlpool products but Kitchen Aid is a brand I would stay away from. After only four years of use, one of my dishwashers started leaking from the stainless steel tub and nearly caused thousands of dollars of damage to my home. After a struggle, I finally got customer service to meet me halfway on the purchase of a new dishwasher. The replacement dishwasher, model K-DTM504EPA-2 was installed in May of 2020 and has been serviced three times, once every year, for a faulty door links mechanism. The certified Kitchen Aid repair company who installed it came out for a fourth time and said there is nothing they can do and said the door links mechanism will continue to break and said the dishwasher will need to be replaced. When I called Kitchen Aid, they would not offer any help other than to set up another repair at my expense. DO NOT BUY KITCHEN AID BECAUSE THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THIER PRODUCTS!
