Kijiji's reputation has significantly declined among users, with many expressing frustration over poor customer service and technical issues. Customers frequently report difficulties in accessing support, experiencing unresponsive help centers, and facing account bans without clear explanations. Additionally, concerns about ad visibility and the prevalence of scams on the platform detract from user experience. Despite some long-term users appreciating the site's historical effectiveness, the overall sentiment leans towards dissatisfaction, particularly regarding paid advertising and the platform's recent updates, which many find cumbersome and ineffective. Users increasingly favor alternatives like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for their advertising needs.

I have been a seller on Kijiji for over a year now. I have 29 five star reviews. All of my buyers have given me a 5 star review. My prices are reasonable and putting ads is quite easy. The only complaint I have are potential buyers who ask about something and you never hear from them again. That is not a fault of th4e Kijiji system, just the users. I never pay for any upgrades so the free adds and no comissions is a great way for me to do business.
It used to be the go to to buy/sell used items, but now it's a real Joke. Searching for items has become more and more difficult since they just give you 4-5 legit search result and the rest is Ads from paid business like wayfair.ca (which is just a company that drop-ship cheap items from alibaba at high price).
Selling or offering service is a joke too, any excuse is good to delete your ads unless you pay. And anyway there traffic stats don't lie, they are dying slowly... At this point in time, just use Facebook Marketplace, you'll save yourself trouble...
The search grid is so outdated, takes years to scroll down a single line of horsemanure ads to find anything decent. Scammers everywhere, they are not even good at it. Then the reply "Kijijidiots" that troll, lowball and generally waste your time. The vintage car WANTED ADS that are just scammers trying to ripoff a old person of their car. The site needs a complete redesign for the last 10 years. You should be able to search "2 by 2" or more ads per space instead of the tiresome "single line scrolldown"
I went forgot password and it said "requires 400 numbers, 5 hieroglyphics, 13 special symbols, 3.5 uppercase characters, and a picture of a duck" so I enter a password that works and what do you know, IT WAS THE PASSWORD I HAD USED BEFORE. 0 stars, fire the whole IT team. If you're going to have absurd password requirements then maybe tell people to remind them so they don't have to reset their password every time they log in.
I no longer use kijiji because it; s nothing but ads now. The Ads block the whole page so you can't see anything else. I tried looking for a bathtub and instead found over 300 ads for retailers?
I deleted an ad which was running on kijiji for a couple of weeks. Then I tried to place exactly the same ad with the same images. Kijiji sent me emails that my ad was activated but my ad was no where on their site. I contacted them and I explained the problem to them and here are their last two replies to me as I copies and pated from their chat form:
1-
"Unfortunately at the moment I am unable to verify some of the information provided and I must respectfully reject your reactivation request. The agent has ended the chat."
2-
Kijiji agent: We are requesting inside pictures of the condo
Me: That cannot be the problem. If you don't know please ask your manager. Your irrelevant responses are disturbing me. Has kijiji set any standards for your customer service?
Kijiji agent: Unfortunately, after review, we won't be able to reinstate your account access. We reserve the right to remove content where we have grounds for suspecting the violation of our terms or the rights of any other party.
The agent has ended the chat.
Perhaps the worst thing was that I had to wait few minutes for every phrase they wrote to me.
Kijiji charged my credit card for advertising my business and then took my ad down with no refund or explanation. I have tried to contact them but they are not responding. I will never advertise with them again. This is a total scam.
Really? Unless you pay big bucks you will never see your ad. Constantly getting spam messages from them to upgrade. Horrible venue.
Honestly, this site is chock full of delusion and corruption. It seems every Tom, $#*!, and Karen on this site think that their swag is worth higher than market prices. You'll find things still on store shelves being sold for much higher than shelf prices, you'll find DVDs worth $5 brand new being sold for $10 used, you'll find people who use the site for their own personal collection dumping grounds, you'll find people who use the site like it's a store front minus the customer support, and you'll find so much more. If I ever feel like being sick of the people that live around and near me, I look up things on this site, it's good for an up-chuck that way, seriously, the people on this site make me sick.
I posted my very first ad to sell my iPhone 7. I had many interested buys and chose the one that first responded. The buyer offered to pay for shipping and handling to send it to their son in Africa who was doing peace work. After agreeing to the deal the buyer asked if I had anything else for sale and I said I had a ps3. We agreed on a price and he was to send me an etransfer for the goods and services. After paying for shipping I received a very sketchy e-transfer with spelling mistakes and realized instantly it was a scam. After a few phone calls Canada post returned my package and funds before it left the country. Kijiji needs to inform sellers of potential scams that could potentially happen while using their platform.
1-there is no category for bartering and they keep not explaining what to do yet they keep deleting when i should be able to barter when i network, i am not child to be censored.
2- they deleted an that was there 4 weeks with another excuse
When they delete my only 1 ad when i allowed 2 pretending it was wrong when i have been posting same ads for 5 years.
Stop the bs of locking people out and do your real job.
Tried posting an apartment for rent, selecting "free post" my ad was blocked and i got email from support team saying "go post somewhere else".
Good way to turn away potential customers.
I was using this scam website and it has so many ads against their posting standard. And now they are not allowing me to posting me ads. It is also a money making website. Now Facebook market place has down their business that's why if you pay or promote your ad then they allow to put any kind of ads otherwise they delete ads. Now it is also fake website.
I know my password. But Kijiji gaslights me and locks me out again. They are whether very stupid or have very bad software or they are playing games... but if they would not abused of me by deleting over 50 legit ads this would not have continued to this level of targeting me... I think they are targeting me to give me misery and they have tried everything but a different strategy every week. The problem is that they deleted over 50 ads and i lost my patience and quite upset... i followed their guidelines with 2 ads... yet they always deleted an ad... and their paid ads don't work so why do i need this abusive conduct from ebay since they owe them?
They play games with me but the fraudulent massage people there don't get any reprisal?
Do not support this woke company, I was trying to advertise a carbon fiber cleaning that has many purposes and because they think it is completely a firearm related product, they immediately delete the post after being active.
Website is a scam. I run a business and paid thousands in ad revenu only to have my number removed from my postings. People could not contact me and kept trying to send me messages. Huge pain in the butt. They even reimbursed me for some of the ads when i then reposted and had the same issue. Kijiji got too big just like facebook and they control wich businesses get visibility. Plus if you pay for ads people send bots to your ads and waste all your advertising views... total scam stay away! We are fooked. Facebook and kijiji even lespac. All crap. I guess these companies got too big and sold out. So sad.
Majority of the people who have offered to buy item(s) being sold are scammers. I have been contacted by so many asking to ship their "relative" in a different state/province when the listing says local only. To those that seemed convincing enough to ship to eventually sent fraudulent emails/ pictures of their paypal/interac e-transfer in efforts to get you to ship items
I have used other buy and sell platforms with far less issues than i have experienced using kijiji
This is my first time ever in my entire 27 years that I have ever felt the need to leave a comment. I have never used Kijiji in my life but decided only recently to use it to rent my condo. My condo is located in downtown Montreal fairly priced for long term rental. Upon posting my ad, it was taken down momentarily. I have tried reaching the live chat but they said my ad was suspicious, closed the chat and blocked account just like that. Moving forward, I have spoken to several other agents which all closed the chat box immediately after the first message. I've tried sending emails and even messaged your instagram page who told me they would look into it. I did not get any replies for neither. This is UTTERLY FRUSTRATING. Now who is responsible for approving ads on Kijiji?!?!?! I am 100% positive that my ad conforms with your company guidelines so why I am blocked from posting anything?!? PLEASE get someone to get back to me ASAP, I've never felt such sheer anger and frustration in my life. You guys are by far the worst site that I have dealt with in my entire life.
Never spend your money on ads on the Kijiji website. It total scam website and they don't promote you anyways. Its better you invest in google ads
Agent Audrey expressed v little interest and ended the chat, Also, the email-address policy is bonkers.
