The overall reputation of the company is significantly tarnished by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to poor construction quality and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight severe issues such as structural defects, delayed repairs, and unresponsive support, leading to a sense of frustration and distrust among homeowners. Positive aspects are sparse, with few customers noting initial satisfaction with the sales process. However, the prevailing sentiment is one of regret, as clients express a strong desire to warn others against engaging with the company, emphasizing a lack of accountability and subpar workmanship.

KB refused to let me use my own lender and after theirs denied me they refused to give me back my deposit and money paid towards the flooring. They stated that I "misunderstood" the rep and he didn't tell me I couldn't use my own lender. I know exactly what he told me and they continue to refuse to give me my money back. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH KB
Well how do I sum up my experience...
5 different closing date. Loan sold twice. My taxes remain unpaid to date (Closed end of 2019 and kb never paid the taxes but sold the loan... finally moved in October 2019 to only have a garage that reeked of gas... gas company brought to my attention the bent ac unit in the attic... wires hanging in the attic... substandard cosmetic issues in the home... such as paint splatters. Clumpy caulking... lights flickering... lighting falling from the kitchen ceiling... etc
KB does not uphold what they sold called stand for and that is customer service. They will try and bully you to give them a 10/10 rating without actually earning it. I truly feel that bc I advocated for myself as a single woman that purchased a home and did not give them the desired rating, I'm paying for it. They are now unresponsive to issues and emails. My issue today is the taxes. They sold my loan a week after closing then it was sold again. That's 2 companies within a month. My taxes were not paid and now they are expecting me to troubleshoot and fix it. I am very regretful for buying this home and doing business with them, I had no idea about the bad reputation that they possess. My fault is not doing the research prior to buying a home with this builder. Relocated from California quickly and bought a home quickly... regretting.
Stay away from KB Home. Their finish contractors do very sloppy work and KB Home will not come out after closing to do followup work. In our development 15 town homes have been or will soon be completed since I closed. Walk throughs began two weeks before closing, another one day of closing and one four weeks after closing. Only one item out of 30 has been taken care of. Save yourself a lot of time and anguish. Do not buy from KB Home.
Hello, I had entered in a residential purchase agreement with KB Home South Bay in April 2019. KB Home's affiliate lender had given me a prequalification letter and later declined my loan. I gave 30 days loan contingency notice to KB Home to cancel the transaction. Instead of cancelling the transaction, they sent to me a buyer default notice and not releasing my $49K EMD money. I am in arbitration with KB Home at this time.
I would appreciate if you could let me know if you are a similar situation.
Stay away from kb home and anything related to kb even if that means that you're not going to find a cheaper builder, better location or the design you like. If I knew what I was getting myself into, I would have never bought my house with kb.
I would not desire my worst enemy to buy a house at KB HOMES. Low quality materials and job is poorly done, multiple confirmed appointments where nobody show up for the repairs, customer service doesn't exist, no answers to emails, calls.
Cracks, mold, cracked tile, cracked grout, cracks throughout concrete garage, patios, sidewalk, window frames attic vent installed incorrectly the pipe from the furnace installed incorrectly, overall worst ever on a new build, sprayed insulation all over attic and it blows through the vents when heater is on. Mold
Brand new build. Been here 3 months. Nearly Every single day a new problem arises. If I could only go back in time and smack my self across the face before I signed those papers. Literally every piece of my home has been fixed, touched up, replaced, ect. This has to be the most amateurish job that's ever been done before. They pick trades from the bottom of the barrel. The materials they use are the cheapest you can find. Everything has been done with zero regard to creating an good home. I will never refer, recommend or use KB homes again.
I have built multiple homes and I have to say that building with KB has been the worst experience. Little to no customer service at all. Once you sign, you are on your own. My house was not even cleaned on the day I closed. I have now lived in the house 6 months and still have outstsnding items. They verbally sell a good product, but they build a terrible home with cheap materials. As an example of what kind of things you are told... during a walk through the doorframe had drips of pain and I was told that big drips like that always happen when you paint by hand and that is just the way it is. My closet doors have about a 2 inch gap from the floor and I was told that was because I upgraded to a 9 foot ceiling... so again my fault not theirs.
Please hear the warning... don't buy from KB
The whole process starting from the purchase is not professional, promises are met, delays, the house is build in 4 months and of course go against the clock is not a good idea, issues are not resolve, people don't show up when they supposed to make the repairs. I could continue but it would be a never end history, please don´t buy a a kb home.
Terrible customer service and warranty. I had to pay 400 dollars out of pocket for a unit that is only 2 years old. Since my filters were supposedly "dirty" they didn't cover the switch that burnt out but when I called another vendor and an actual HVAC tech came out he called BS on KB homes and showed me why that couldn't have caused my high limit switch to fail.
I was told there was a one year bumper to bumper warranty on my home. There has been a crack in the stucco near my patio door since shortly after I moved in. I called to have it repaired and not once, but twice, they came out and stuck some putty in it and left it looking worse than it did before. I emailed the sales office and was told "we'll see what we can do". I also had to have someone come out to repair the air conditioner and they explained that the unit was put on a plastic slab that was sinking because of the rain, and causing the hoses to crack and cause a leak. The tech said it should have been put on a concrete pad. I texted the superintendent about it and never got a response. I also asked about it when I emailed about the patch on the back patio and it was filed under the " see what we can do" response. I wish I had listened to my husband who said KB Homes had a reputation in Colorado for poor workmanship and that we should think twice before purchasing from them.
You get a wonderful sounding song and dance of how beautiful and great quality your house will be. Reality, they moved our closing, plus construction up by 4 months to finish the house by the end of the year(for their accounting), rushed through the final walkthrough phase, felt bullied into giving good ratings with the builders basically staring at you waiting. Then once you do close and really get to see your beautiful house, Right?... Wrong after living in house for 8 months, outside paneling is cracking in4 different places, shims everywhere, so they made things fit right or wrong, nails sticking up from carpeting on stairs, actual staircase to top floor is sining and cracking from top landing, basement tiles are caving in, even water leaking through electrical vents. Even trim on outside of house was just abandoned. Whole kitchen cabinets not attached to wall, the list goes on and on... if you do get a person to finally show up to fix it they do a bandaid job or they have to order something and then never come back. My house is falling apart and cracking on the inside and the outside. KB at this point has had all our pictures and complaints that have yet to be addressed. We can't even turn around and sell this "brand new" home until these issues are fixed. Had we known, my family would have NEVER purchased this home through KB. Lennar is NOT any better, my brother owns one of those.
These are tricky-tacky houses built with a factory line mentality with no care of quality of construction or safety of those who will live in the home. NEVER BUY KB HOMES IN SOMERSET MEADOWS OF COLORADO.
Sincerely,
KB HOMEOWNER SINCE 2019
We had started the process of purchase of home in Marbella Ranch subdivision. We did everything the loan officer told us to do and a month before we where ready to close they they tell us we are being denied (and during the process we never applied for credit or did anything we where told not to do). When we started the closing processes we where told that the original loan officer had our loan as well as others a mess and they where also not able to get their dream home. I think KB Homes should take responsibility of their employees actions if that is why that employee isn't an employee anymore for their errors. So apparently they already knew we where being denied and still made us pay appraisal fee! At the end of this nightmare with KB Homes they did not want to give us back our money we have put down or paid. THEY ARE CROOKS THAT TAKE INNOCENT PEOPLES MONEY WHO DID WHAT THEY ARE TOLD TO DO! DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY YOU WORK HARD FOR! I HOPE THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO GOT DENIED REACHES OUT FOR JUSTICE AS I AM, BECAUSE KB'S STOLE OUR MONEY! THEY DESERVE ZERO STARS BUT I GUESS I HAVE TO PUT ONE UUUGGHHHH!
BEWAREWould give a zero if it allowed. Recently bought a new KB home. Worse decision of my life. Sub standard build. Home needed tons of repairs when I did my first walkthrough. After I moved in too. Every one promises to take care of you etc. But fall short. Had broken roof tiles. Ac duct work not attached. Walls out of plumb that needed to be torn out 4 times. Kb forgot to install my garage door opener as well. Soooooo many problems too many to list. Do your homework before you buy. And maybe pay a professional home inspector before you move in. I didn't get any of the so called "KB" experience I feel that I've recieved the KY experience.
The experience from start to finish is not what pleasant, lots of communication gaps and they're resistant to correct any sloppy areas from the construction. Do not recommend.
I would NEVER purchase another KB home especially in San Antonio, TX. Our foundation and many others in my neighborhood is falling. KB did not prep the ground and level prior to laying the foundation. The warranty says 10 years but that's exactly when you see the house settling. The SAWS water department is equally to blame because every month someone's pipes are busting. Whomever inspected this area to ensure things were done properly was horrible. Every week I'm finding new, HUGE cracks in my home due to our foundation not being laid properly and my neighbor's water pipes busting for the fourth time. Either way it still falls on KB home building cheaply made houses. Buyer beware! Just don't do it.
We built a kB home in 2017 they have lied to us from the start, very sloppy work, crooked walls. Chipped baseboard. Failing foundation and cracked drive ways
In Summer 2018 I entered into a contract with KB Homes to purchase a new home in Rocklin (6120 Mehrten Cir), but unfortunately my initial work agreement with my employer (William Jessup University) fell apart after a few months and I had to withdraw from the deal. KB Homes representative, Jean Gaskins, told me that if I send them a letter explaining my situation, it is likely they will return my $3000 deposit, but they did not even bother to reply! I am very disappointed with KB Homes, especially now that I have realized other companies like Shea Homes and Century Communities almost always return their customers' deposits when they have legitimate excuses for not going ahead with the contract.
This is a low quality builder. I had a horrible experience with this builder. Do not waste your time or money with KB Homes. It hard to get in touch with anyone in corporate other than a customer service call center rep. Do not give earnest money you will never see it again.
Answer: Just google the ceo of kb. And send him a direct email if you want action
