Currently, 3 1/2 years has passed and KB did not bother to do anything to help us. Since I posted my review ( besides calling KB homes multiple times), the AC compressor has broken multiple time. 14 times with warranty and after the labor warranty expired, few more times. I think, in three years, we had to change the compressor at least 5 times. At this exactly moment, I have no air conditioner and my house is 88 degrees. Besides that, the house warranty has expired (labor), and we have been paying for all those times that the AC breaks. Apparently, my AC unit is not big enough to cover my two store-house, the capacity of the unit installed in my house is just the size needed for the county approved the inspection of my house. To make the situation even worse, the company that provides the compressors is refusing to give me a new one, even though the broken unit still under warranty, because of the amount of compressors we have used within three years. Where is KB customer service? They never care. They sold the house, they made their money and that's all. KB build houses with low quality material, they do not the basic out of the basic, just enough to pass the county inspections. Be careful before you purchase a new KB homes, otherwise you will be screw as myself is.______________________________________________________

Luciana Meadows to KB Home

I never thought I was going to have such a bad experience with KB homes. DO not buy any houses from them. Our new house had some many issues and but the worse and permanently unfix-able is the AC. The worse of the problems among other issues. After 14 visits from del-air as an attempt to make an new AV unit work properly, our AC is out of warranty, and guess what? The house temperature of almost 90Fo.( INSIDE), I have guests from Boston, small children and an ill 91 years old father frying inside of the house. Del-air does not have anyone available to come to our house until Friday and God knows how much money we will have to spend to fix KB and del-air poor work.
August 2017 - The Enclaves at Santiago, Phoenix, AZ - 1) KB "corporate" releases 5 lots at a time and it is first come, first serve, yet they ask you to "pre-qualify" even if you have already been pre-qualified even BEFORE you know you have a lot; 2) Each time they have a "lot release", they increase the sales price (last lot release 8/2/17), 1st price increase 8/18/17, "corporate" released one lot because the deal fell through, 2nd price increase 8/22/17 lot release was 8/24/17); 3) the sales people will tell you "corporate" may also increase the "lot premium" anywhere from $1-4k even though you can only choose from 5 lots, all standard size, none of which were on a corner or over-sized, why the lot premium for this lot (76) that backed up to an alley next to old dilapidated homes?; 4) by the time I checked out the design studio, the 1668sf model that was originally $213,990, then $215,990, then $217,990 was going to cost me $275k! Even after I eliminated ALL my upgrades, I was down to $248,000 and then they raised the price to $217,990! 5) I asked about Capital Improvement Fees ranging from $12k to $30k, I was told "KB doesn't do that", well someone forgot to tell KB since I found 3 resales that were ALL in KB Home Developments in the area, that ALL had Capital Improvement Fees, and these are in addition to your annual property taxes! 6) although I was not guaranteed a lot, the sales person called me because she was "working from home" to "pre-qualify" me and 10-20 minutes AFTER I verbally provided all my personally identifying information tells me her husband was in the room listening to our conversation! WTF? She also told me it would be a "soft pull" on my credit as KB just wanted to know my credit score, but it was a full inquiry and now she tells me the KB loan officer would be calling me to try to get me a better deal, exactly what I said I did not want to do! 7) If you want all your windows behind your concrete block wall, you need to pay to extend the fence out and they will not split the cost if both home buyers want the fence extended out; Lastly, they will not let you finance your pool into the first mortgage because the homes are not "comping" out - red flag! Thankfully, I found a resale in a nicer area that did not cost me more than a quarter of a million dollars! Run!
