I acquired a vintage Sherwood S-7100A AM/FM Receiver at an estate auction. When I tried to turn it on, nothing happened. I replaced the fuse, but still no power. I then started searching the internet for help and found a JustAnswer posting with the same problem. I realized the steps to fix it were beyond my ability, so I paid $5 for 7 days of help. My expert was Louie, and he had the patience of a saint! He was asking very basic questions that I could not answer. So, I chose to use their option to hire an expert ($26) so he could work with me directly and diagnose the problem for me. JustAnswer connected us on the phone and we went to work. He wanted to know if I had a multi-meter, which I did, but did not know how to use. He walked me step-by-step in getting the meter set up. First tested the power at the power cord prongs. The readings were too low, or not giving a steady reading. Then tested the power at the "SWITCHED 100 W" plug. He suggested I clean the power cord prongs which stabilized the readings. With that done, all the readings were then within norms. Plugged it into the power strip, but still did not work. (red face) - oops - no speakers attached and the speaker selector was set to OFF. Once speakers were attached and the speaker selector set to "A" there was music!
I have used this site in the past to ask questions about Canadian law, and the experts who answered them represented themselves as Canadian. Recently I tried to sign up as an expert myself, but the system was incapable of recognizing a Canadian driver's license as a verifiable ID. It quickly became clear that the site is US-dominated and open only to US experts, but has no qualms about representing them as Canadian (in my case). If your question is not country-specific, that would not matter. Mine were.
They were absolutely no help at all. Then I found out that they'd made my contact a subscription and charged twice within a few days. Now I have to go through my back to get them turned off from payments. DON'T GO THERE!

Purchased a 7 day trial for $5.00 When I went in at 7 a.m. on the 7th day to cancel, they had already charged my card $ 28.00 at 3 a.m. that day. Did not even give me a chance to cancel. I contacted customer service they said too bad its in the agreement. I would think that companies are a bit more sensitive during a world pandemic. I am going to pay $28.00 for the next four weeks for something I will not need.

I was looking at a YouTube video demonstrating a complex maintenance procedure for a sewing machine. An ad for JustAnswer popped up claiming to provide expert technicians to answer this kind of question for $1, can cancel at any time. I decided to try it. Immediately I was in touch with a consultant who did not read my query. Then she said she would try to find an expert to answer it. Then I received a notice of a $37 charge from JustAnswer, in addition to the $1 fee, which was now described as an account processing fee. I immediately cancelled the transaction. Hours later a tech emailed me, suggesting I look at the YouTube video (same one I was already viewing). The company will not refund the $37, but claim I will not be subjected to monthly charges. Their customer service rep claimed they have a great Better Business Bureau record. In fact, they have a record of many complaints. BBB now has one more. Don't use this company, it is a scam.

The appraiser they connected me with had zero knowledge of my particular rare limited edition concert grand piano and wasn't willing to research and only wanted to know what I paid for it so he could run a standard depreciation schedule. He balked when I said the piano had been appreciating in value since purchased in 2002 stating that it isn't possible.
Huge waste of time and not even worth the 5$

Tried to get help with tech question. Got connected to a technician. After a few minutes, he disappeared. Called customer svc. They said my membership was cancelled. Had them reinstate me. Contacted another technician. He too disappeared. Back to customer svc. They said my membership was cancelled 3 years ago. Hung up, very disappointed. Would not recommend.

My grandson's iPhone was pretty much useless due to whatever issue taking up the memory on the phone itself. Couldn't access the phone to reset due to my daughter having put a screen time lock on that she subsequently forgot the password to. The Just Answer expert resolved the problem within just a few minutes and sent the solution in an email to me. Problem solved soon thereafter.

I had a problem with my Canon Image Class MF 733 Cdw copier stopping in the middle of a copying job. I got in touch with Ibrahim Beig and he had an answer for me. This isn't the first time I have had to go to Ibrahim to get a problem solved. I'll call him again, if I have a problem cvome up.
This was a great idea, and for me solved my issue without having to hook up the RV and take it to a dealership at $175.00 per hour. It's easy to use and responded time was within minutes. I'll be a regular customer.
While polishing silver before the holidays, I got curious about the age and origin of an item that's been in my family for well over 100 years. I was able to track down some of the hallmarks but not the crucial maker's mark.
In my search, I stumbled across Just Answer and, for a small fee, purchased a one-week trial. It was really easy to chat with them and upload photos of the item and the hallmarks. Within a couple of hours, I received a detailed report about who made it, where, and the exact year. Everything looked real — I even withdrew a small amount at first — then one day my account was “under review” and the site vanished. I reported it to the FTC and pretty much gave up hope. Months later, someone who saw my complaint told me to email cyberfundsrecovery12@ gmail. Com. I was super skeptical (once bitten, twice shy), but they actually knew exactly how these scams work. It took about 3 months of paperwork, verifications, and bank back-and-forth, but I got a big chunk of my money back. Not all of it, but way more than I thought I’d ever see again. If you’ve been scammed, don’t give up — there are people who can help, but be careful who you trust.
