There is not 24 hour customer service as advertised, and it's difficult to get a real person. Intoxalock reported a tamper violation after I informed them of vehicle maintenance and supplied supporting documentation. This resulted in my license being revoked. Then this company charged me for an early removal fee and refused to let me speak with a supervisor. Too bad there isn't an option for no stars.
My time was up a month ago and they still haven't set up a date for removal. First they said that I needed paperwork from DMV to schedule the removal. I went to DMV and they said they don't issue removal paperwork even though my term had been successfully. Called CS again and they said don't worry about the ppw, the temp drivers license with the Interlock stamp on it should have a removal date. I looked at the license and confirmed what I already knew and it does not have a removal date. So Customer Service came up with their third shot into the dark. I needed a new license. But you cannot walk into DMV in NJ and get a new license anymore. You have to order a duplicate online which takes a minimum of 20 days to get to you in the mail. So I paid Leroy down the straight a six pack of bud and he had the device out in 10 minutes. Enough is enough.
Customer service over seas like everything else in this world of America you do not get the same information from one person. Blew over got a lock out from food blew within one minute disputed the 80.25 charge due to being told if it's 5 minutes or less it wouldn't be a violation still was obviously their equipment is faulty as to left the dentist blew a. 44 but still ended up starting the car makes no sense at all even the service guy at the original install said it was a money thing with the Intoxalock. Already pay an arm and a leg granted yeah along the lines messed up but why do people need to be penalized right down to the bone?
Worst company In the world! Serious scam with different charges. Bad customer service experience, I will urge everyone not to patronize this company for your own good. They are scam. I do not recommend. If you have any other option, pls stick to that, by the way their idea of "Roadside Assistance " is telling you to pay for a tow and pay any charges from a service center and telling you to trust them to reimburse you for the charges. I warned you, kindly please don't have any business with this company called intoxalock. They are total scammed.
Had Intoxalock device installed and within a months time my battery was drained and would not start my car. I replaced my battery, but the problem persists. Called Intoxalock customer service number, which is an overseas call center where they read off of a script and are not helpful at all. I took my car to the garage where it was installed to have the problem investigated. They did find a small current draw but could offer no solutions to fix my problem. I've resorted to buying an emergency jump start kit and the kindness on neighbors to jump start my battery on a daily basis because of this interlock device. Why won't Intoxalock put forth the effort to investigate why this problem keep reoccurring! Bad customer service! Beware when choosing an interlock company
Frequent lockouts, that are the fault of device. Difficult if not impossible to contact customer service. Numerous hidden fees that are difficult to challenge.
Use something else. Anything else.
Current customer, would love to cancel and switch.
When you call them they can't help you or get you to the right department they like to charge you but not explain what it is for. It's to late for me but I wouldn't recommend this place.
I got rid of their device a week ago and went with a better company that has 5 star rating while they have 1 star. Since I have stop doing business with this company and closed my account with them and returned their device, they have to continue to throw random fee charges on my card over $500 worth and I'm not even with them anymore! Called customer service and they do not answer and when you do get them on the phone (only cause I click the option to pay "my bill") the guy answer says how can I help you and I tell him I don't have their device anymore and closed my account and don't do business with them anymore so why am I still being charged hundreds of dollars over something I don't even have no do business with this company any longer! He then says oh you have to call back in 2 hours my system is down. He only says this cause he can see I'm not there to pay their fraud charges and no longer wants to help me. I told him I call last time and he told me the 2 hour thing and I already waited 2 hours. He then says oh well I meant 8 hours before you try again and then hangs up in my face and before hanging up would not let me talk or get a word in with out talking over me and yelling louder so he didn't have to hear what I had to say about the charges before he hung up on me. This company is a fraud and they just do fake charges to get your money when you have done nothing wrong! They should be looked into by the FBI because this company is very sketch and does alot of fraud charges that aren't true and try and get you in trouble on purpose so they can charge you more. This company is a joke do not use them switch to another company if you know what's good for you. The company I use now is way better and isn't if a little be as bad as this company is and doesn't make you get false fail test from using hand sanitizer! Again don't go with this company. Zero star rating from me!
Terrible company! Run away! Continuous lockouts due to cold weather even though maintenance was ALWAYS REPORTED. HAVE TO FIGHT FOR REFUND EVERY TIME THEY TRY TO CHARGE ME $70 EVEN THOUGH I TELL THEM AHEAD OF TIME! NEVER AGAIN
Don't use this service. Their equipment malfunctions and they take zero responsibility for helping you resolve any issue. Make sure that you use SMART START if you have to use a service like this. PLEASE HEED MY WARNING.
The Intoxalock device destroyed my first battery within 3 months. That battery was only 2 years old. I was charged $75 every time my battery would go dead. In the beginning, the representatives refused to admit that the device was doing this but I needed to drive my car every day. I bought another Duracell battery for $250. I started having the same issue. I have a remote starter and sometimes it wouldn't let my car completely turn off... dashlights still on. I had to unhook the battery. Weird codes, fast draining of my battery. I had to put my car in maintenance daily to charge my battery. I had a trickle charger too. My car is a newer Cadillac.
If you live in a state where it gets very cold out, you'll be up sh*t creek without a paddle. Then, had a faulty unit, it got replaced with another faulty unit. Both times mind you, I have to fork over money to have it towed to an intoxalock shop and BOTH times was told I'd get reimbursed. NOPE, I instead get credited the amount on my account so needless to say, I had a terrible Month and basically got one less paycheck for the cost of living. Plus on top of it all, cuts your battery life in half. Nobody there cares, it takes forever to talk to someone that doesn't understand you anyways and I will not have a total of $700 in tow bills added to my account that ends in 2 months…odds I get a refund on over paying?!? Ha
The customer service generally sucks. It is outsourced to middle eastern countries so there is automatically a communication barrier. The device itself is archaic compared to others and the cost ends up being more because of calibration and lockout fees.
Customer service is the worst service I've ever had to deal with. I was charged 82$ for a violation that is literally impossible for me to commit. I am currently wearing a SCRAM bracelet that checks my sweat every 30 minutes for alcohol. Wether it me lotion, alcohol wipes, cologne etc. If I drink or use said products I go to jail. You would think customer service would listen to my case and help me retract this violation. After two days worth of phone calls they are unwilling to help me. I hope that some day soon the authorities will look into this company INTOXALOCK because it is a major scam.
This company should have a class action lawsuit filed against them!
All they care about is how to steal money.
Yes Steal! They set up their entire operation around get your account set up and never answer the phone w a real person again. Unless you call from a non account phone number. New money. No service. And yes, 75 dollars every time their equipment fails.
Low voltage Violation 12...
Ok dumb dumb
As a mechanical for a living,
If you install equipment that constantly pulls battery power from your vehicle-
We need to pay you 75 dollars because your equipment runs down our batteries?
Illegal. Flat out.
This company hides behind fine print and needs to be exposed for the nasty and illegal things they do to people trying to go to work.
Tip. Change the C. CARD ON FILE AFTER W ONE NO LONGER BEING USED OR HAS NO MONEY ON IT BEFORE THE EQUIPMENT IS REMOVED. 70 TO END ACCOUNT.
First they will give you a sales pitch that specifically says "All you have to do is pay $xx today and we will include the following at no extra cost" then they will list all the items that you will not be charged for. Good luck on that - when you set up your account online and actually review it, they do in fact charge you for the items plus additional charges you were never told about. If you don't stay on top of them, you will never get the credits you were promised. When it comes time to remove the device, you are charged account termination fees that were never disclosed as well as an exorbitant amount to the installer for removal which was never disclosed.
Bottom line, these people are skirting the line of illegal business practices very closely if not downright ignoring it and they get away with it because the state is usually complicit in the process to further punish you for your offense.
Stay away from Intoxalock at all costs.
I wrote a review before and that seems to be the only way you can get anyone to contact you! If you need help, Good luck!
My account has been closed for 2 months and I am still getting emails saying that I'm getting billed for my monthly fee. I have attempted to contact someone to ask to stop sending emails, but, of course, I can't. I have had nothing but problems since I started. The price of installation was 3x what I was originally told and there is also an uninstall fee. It took several more hours than it should have because they were using a faulty device. When someone from client care did get to me, he was very nice and offered credits to my account. I would have rather had the cash back, though, because we were only going to use the device a short period, so credits were not needed. They did end up sending a check for the balance.
I feel like this company is one that hires another business to reel you in. If you put in an inquiry, they will call right away. That's the only time! They are the ones who give out misinformation and then you are sent to another part of the operation and you don't speak to that original person again! Maybe I had the misfortune of being an exception to the rule and normally things go well. I don't get that feeling, though.
So, whoever reads this from Intoxalock, please stop sending emails and saying I'm getting billed.
Aside from the b. S hidden fees and horrible customer service, the device is sub par at best. After having it installed in my 2006 trailblazer by a very well respected and competent mechanic I had nothing but problems with it. It would draw my battery down within hours of shutting off the car. Prior to having it installed I installed a new battery, alternator, idler pulley, belt and battery cables. The charging system was working flawlessly before installed. Adding insult to injury, talking to a human being is next to impossible if you're having a problem. If, and I mean a big "IF" you do get to talk to a human... It's a middle eastern call center and they have no information or ability to tell you anything helpful. I've been charged $75 for resetting a lockout due to supposedly missing a rolling retest... Problem is, I wasn't even in the car, nor was the car running. It's a very fruitful racket for the company, consumer not so much. If I wasn't over $1,000 into this thing already I'd rip it out myself and drive anyway. If you're unfortunate enough to be in a position to require an ignition interlock, prepare to be financially violated constantly, and have your privelages revoked at least once.
I found out the hard way that I couldn't allow my vehicle to warm up in below zero weather without sitting inside of it. It locked me out. I paid a $75 fee to have it unlocked. My monthly bill of $108 for some reason was $129.99 after this happened. I contacted the billing department and they said the additional charges were due to a device lockout which I already paid $75 to have unlocked. I then looked through the application I installed on my phone as per their recommendations. I then later found that there were other hidden charges for roadside assistance.$5 here.$4 there for absolutely no reason whatsoever. This company is heavily abusing its customers financially and need to be held accountable. When I spoke with customer service they said they had no record of the $75 lockout fee to unlock my device, yet the transaction shows up clear as day on my app profile. The worst part of the whole situation as I was found not guilty on the DUI charge. The summary suspension went effective before my trial. So unfortunately I am waiting up on the state to release my driver's license so I can get this pile of garbage out of my car and stop being ripped off by these fraudulent business operators.
Sooo, in this latest episode of "how can intoxalock make your day worse!" I shut my car off and went into a store to pick up a few things. Never once heard the device make a noise. Was in the store for a half hour and came back out to find that my device was in a lockout. I call the company, they say I'm in a lockout due to not blowing for the retest. Funny, my vehicle was turned off and I was inside the store when they say the retest went off. Even have pics from inside the store at the same time it was supposedly going off about a retest. I call the company, they say I had to have left my car running when it went off for a retest. Guess they don't realize that gas is too expensive right now to leave the car running. Now, I have had that device for over 2.5 years now and have never had a lockout for failing to retest or having alcohol in my system, I think I know how it works. Now I'm all the sudden being told that I have to wait for 2-3 minutes after shutting off my vehicle. I have never once been told that in the entire time I have had this garbage in my vehicle. Oh, I called a day later and the next agent I spoke with said that she was going to do an investigation and get back to me within 24 hours. That was Monday, 2 days ago. Btw, I have a camera in my vehicle and the lady told me that she could check the video to see if I had shut off and exited the vehicle before the restest went off. Plus, looking at the bill, it's not a $75 fee, it's an $80 fee. Think I'm gonna have to my lawyer in on this one. Intoxalock, ya'll have gotten enough of my damn money and if there was another company within 50 miles, I would drop your sorry company. Thank God I should only have a couple of months left with this crap!
Answer: Legit company but they have shady business practices. Very dishonest
Answer: Sale man was very pushy and I was very panicked about loosing my license. He kept calling me after I told him I would give him a call back. No one in this company wants to help you, avoid them.
Answer: As far and I am concerned any of the other 4 State approved interlock companies would have been a step up.
Answer: No. They suck. They're parasites. They're not even very good at that. They're really more battery police than making sure people don't drive drunk. They also forgot that the people with their device are the paying customers. If you are bad to those that pay your bills, they're going to stop paying you.
Answer: Must get a court release once you have the new one in place
