Had to look up my tax archive to get AGI for this year's tax prep. Most of the process was user-friendly. Had some issues with the ability to take a pic of my ID and get it to move on to the next step. Had to figure out after multiple tries to upload from my gallery. No help from the program, it just would not continue. After I got the pics uploaded, everything else went pretty smoothly.
I found the ID.me experience beyond frustrating. I understand and acknowledge the need for high level security, but I think this program might have been designed to be more user friendly.

I never would have picked a third party to send my personal information to, I simply had no choice. This is a third party that's not subject to the privacy policies of the governmental agencies we need to access but we're being forced to use this as verification. They want sensitive information and subject us to incessant texting verification and alerts about logging out. Nothing about this adds to our security, it makes us even more vulnerable when the inevitable data breach happens. Can anyone say equifax? These guys won't have anymore accountability than equifax suffered. We are far more secure with our own usernames and passwords at the respective websites we're trying to access. In fact, if someone wants to log into my IRS account and pay my taxes I wouldn't want These guys to stop them. Don't let anyone convince you that we are ever safer giving our private information to a third party security provider. It's an information grab and this is verified by the fact they want to send us offers and shopping. For the record, that's profiting from the information we provide which is a serious conflict of interest. I'm not sure how these guys got in bed with governmental agencies to force this on us but it needs to be investigated.

I just wanted to pay my taxes, but the process its like an inmate registration. The selfservice software might be the latest technology, but was not able to confirm my identity after 4 attempts. I ended up having to wait half hour to speak with an agent and show all kinds of personal documents.
What was said to be a 5-10 mins process became a wasted 2 hrs of my life.
I insist, all the sensitive information provided was unnecessary, I was just paying my taxes, take the money, reference to the SSN and provide a receipt! Is that to much to ask?
