Creating an account with ID.me was fairly simple and took less time than I thought it would.
Works great if you have a smartphone. Takes about five minutes to complete sign-in requirements.
Keeps going in a circle, enter everything it sends me a text code enter the code, then right back to doing the same thing.

Without a smart phone and not being tech savvy it was not easy or streamlined to complete this step. Losing my job was upsetting enough and having to prove who I am after being a state employee working in public schools for many years made it more stressful.There were a couple of glitches with the process which held me up. ID Fraud is changing the face of our world and making everything more time consuming/complex.

ID.me's terrible scanner software and grade-schooler built website rejected documents accepted by the USPS, IRS, and the SSA.
Get your act together...will be cancelling the service.
ID.me has a terrible website, the user-interface is full of bugs and hiccups, and you will spend hours trying to do what they promised would take 5-10 minutes.
There are better options.
And that comes from somone who has managed web development teams building Fortune 500 websites.
Don't even think about using the tool if you don't live in the US. One of the questions asked me for my phone number, so I selected the correct country. But then the verification kept waffling between "Please enter 10 digits" and "You haven't entered 11 digits"
Also terrifying that the only documents I could upload were my passport and social security card... Today's "we promise we don't store your data" is tomorrow's "whoops that was a massive security breach and thousands of people's data was compromised"

One of the first web pages states that you need 2 primary IDs or 1 primary and 2 secondary ID.
Wrong.
You need 3 primary IDs.
It says agents are available.
Wrong.
Only after multiple failed attempts to satisfy the documentation requirements is an agent available for assistance.
So, no human assistance available until you have expended an unacceptable amount of time and effort to navigate the process.
I have an issue with an old email account. I have spoken to numerous agents via text. Each agent ask me the same repeating questions how many times.
No customerservice number. The issue is still not fixed over a week now.
I just wanted to get to my taxes like always. There was NOTHING that indicated that I had to do this! I tried so hard to just do things as normal. Then I gave up and just prayed that this would get me through it. It did but it was a terible experience. Can't you be clear about it? And then the experience from computer to phone to computer no overview at all! Go back to other tab? It was other tab on other device! Just obey obey obey. You could not do a worse job than you did. What am I going to do about my 89 year old mom who doesn't live near me? She has no smart phone. I hate this!
