I was trying to book a cruise and I got to a page that said you could go to the ID site and once verified you would get a 10% discount on any cruise for that particular cruise line. (this one happened to be Norgewian, don't know if others offer that or not)

On the surface, a nice looking and relatively easy site to use with good step-by-step pages. However, it did seem to lead to dead- end locations, with no clear way to get back to where I started (IRS payment site). I "found my way out" but then what was my status…was I scammed, or did I succeed in registering?
To be fair, I did get an email stating such, but I was on my browser, so didn't see it until I tried to complete my original purpose on the IRS site, many minutes later.
The system is sufficient and secure but too many steps to get your number, especially for older people

Took many loops of uploading my driver license using smart phone and computer---many many texted codes to answer questions and upload photos, again and again. ID.me did not find me in their databases so I had to have a video chat and hold my ID up to my face. All this to gain access to the IRS to whom I have paid taxes for decades.
It was a very quick process. Don't take more than 15 minutes to do it. Thanks for your help.

It's convenient to have all your important information easily accessible and secure, so you can retrieve it quickly when needed.
They force (if you want to access IRS) us to give permission to share our data but say you can change this preference in settings. Then they hide (I still cant find) the setting. They also make very difficult to get actual assistance. The automated online tool is worthless.
The experience was very quick and good overall. The website and emails alerted me re which documents to have ready and available along with a time countdown as to when the live interview would take place. This helped make the process go better and faster
Frank was awesome. I dont have cameras on my computer. He helped me get the site on my phone
