The biggest waste of time I have ever experienced in attempting to accomplish a government requirement! It reminds me of something out of Mission Impossible, which is an apt description of the whole "process." The goverment has less regard for taxpayers' time with every year that passes. Foisting this on us is ABOMINABLE!
Process was too long. Had to wait 30+ minutes just to talk to someone (who was outsourced btw and not an irs agent). I am verified which is good but if I had a limited talk/data plan I would have lost almost an hour just trying to verify

The ID.me way of verifying somebody's identity was new to me. I liked the fact that everything was done online, which suited me just fine. Uploading of documents was easy and straightforward (that is if you have the required documents ready). The idea of adding a video call as further verification step was clever. However ID.me should strive to shorten/streamline/facilitate the wait for their video call. This could be done for example by offering time slots of not more than 30 minutes during which an applicant will definitely receive the call. Or by alerting the applicant a few minutes before the call by text message. Or by installing a realistic timer on their web page (one that only counts down and not back up again and where one minute is actually one minute and not 2 hours). The acutal call - once it finally started - was very curteous, professionally conducted and took not more than 2 minutes. Apart from the long wait for the video call it is a well set up process for verifying somebody's identity.
I'm not one who has a lot of patience for these types of websites the fact that I was able to get everything done without getting stressed out or riddled with anxiety says a lot thank you

Setting up the account was easy enough, but uploading documents was a joke. Was required to do it 4 times each and then it still didn't verify my identity. Then the video selfie required 4 times and it didn't work either. Such a terrible feeling not being able to prove you're you!
