I was done with the entire chore, from registration to signing off on my taxes in less than half an hour. I put off doing my taxes because I was worried it would be complicated and drawn out. It was not.

So, as I tend to do, I waited until April 15 to file my taxes!
I had just moved and last year's tax documents were still packed away somewhere (because who needs those, right?). Anyways, I was trying to finish filing and I needed last year's AGI. I went to IRD.gov, thinking that would be a quick and simple way to get it. It was not.
I was directed to ID.Me. I expected this to be another difficult, drawn out process that wouldn't even get me the results I was looking for. It was not.
I logged in easily, took some pics of my ID, got my face scanned and Bam! That was it! I got back into IRS.Gov, got the info I needed & finished filing all in about 20 minutes.
The system is simple, secure (I mean the IRS sent me there so if they can trust them…) and quick.
Perhaps the smoothest online account setup and id verification I have ever experienced. Highly recommend.

I dislike any company that shares information! Other than that the site was pretty easy to use. It's straight forward and step by step.
Fast and easy. I was done in no time. Turbo tax is fine but takes longer. Also turbo tax does not give you free access to past tax returns as they used to.
I am having issue sign ing and sent a few emails and still have not been able to use ID.me at all
After texting me a code then emailing me a code it is making me wait for a snail mail letter.

Being a government service, I expected a shoddy UI that worked but wasn't well designed. I was completely floored by the clear and seamless user experience delivered by ID.me — even as it transitioned from desktop, to mobile, and back to the desktop. Bravo, team! If all government services worked this well, I truly believe the public's opinion of government would improve.
ID.me allowed me to self-service my needs quickly, and was done through a very intuitive UI (user interface). The only feedback I would suggest is providing a screenshot example of the video users will experience so they know what to expect. The instructions imply the user would have to do some sort of video narration when it really validates your facial features.
Taken as a whole, my experience was satisfactory. However, I was completing my tax return on my smartphone and I do not ever recommend using a smartphone to fill-out the Federal tax filing. My screen was too small and I never could figure out a way to maximize/minimuze the forms on my phone screen. My Federal tax return is very easy as I am retired and my only source of income is Social Security yet I still had issues using ID.me on a small screen.
It was supposed to identify me by my face. I didn't work and I am having trouble being identified to submit my taxes
I'm not a fan of the collection of biometrics. I don't have it set up on my phone for a reason. It's intrusive and I don't feel confident that all my personal information is kept secure and private electronically. Nothing is completely secure in this day and age.
