I've used this service when I needed to secure a lease on an apartment rental and for online IRS payments. It's fairly simple and if there is any issue with face recognition,they will send you a link for online video which will complete the process and protect your identity at the same time. Great service and simple to use!

Being able to verify my identity by taking photos of my driver's license and passport was extremely convenient. However, the process does require some degree of patience. ID.me insists on very clear images and ones that include the entire borders of both the driver's license and passport. Be prepared to have them rejected a few times and don't be shocked when you are not sure exactly why ID.me didn't accept them. You have to keep trying until you see the image of your documents appear in the appropriate regions of the ID.me website. Be patient and keep trying!

After an intricate process I learned that someone had filed for a 2023 refund using my identity, when in fact I had a payment due in 2023.
