Spent about two hours trying to get this feature to work. Finally succeeded after about 10 attempts. Don't use ID.me if you don't like technology and can't spare the time to try and try and try! I give this system an F-minus!

I thinh it is necessary to have an Id-me account to have different options to communicate with the IRS.
Tried to access my IRS account and ID.me gave me an email address that I didn't recognize. Wrote a support ticket and I think my account now matches my email account but doesn't work for the IRS. Error code 2001. Feels like I may be hacked. Haven't used it for other accounts. Seems to be the only way to get to the IRS online. No other alternatives to verifying ID. I'm in limbo now trying to figure out the issues with ID.me and the IRS.

Confusing emails and texts, multiple rejected photos, inability to use camera on desktop, asking to reenter information after being emailed that everything was OK. Waiting for word that I could get to a referee for hours after being told data acceptable while still getting texts that something more was needed. Finally started over and resent the pictures it already had said were good. Hours later, finally got to a referee. Referee part was easy.
