I had to go to the VA for help in getting signed on. The VA was in Durham, and Tina helped us with the process. She was absolutely great. However, if you have other Veterans without a computer or do not have a smart phone, you will need 20 more Tinas' to complete the job! By the way, the rating of 3 was before we met Tina. Tina gets a "10"
As a US citizen living abroad it's not always easy to provide the required documentation (US drivers license or ID, bank statement, utility bill, etc.). I would suggest you check what type of documentation is required first and then proceed. There is also a live video option for verification of documentation.
I had to upload a copy of my drivers license and take a video selfie of myself to verify my identity even though I already had an account with ID.me. I should have used login.gov like my wife did. She didn't have to upload any documents. This company now has too much of my private information!
All four of my stars are for the live chat agent. She was polite, and gave clear instructions. The rest of my experience was neutral bordering on irritating. I did not want to use the video call feature, I think I was forced into the video call because the AI processing my documents couldn't understand I wear Hijab. I'd be interested to know if Pastafarians also experience religious discrimination at the hands of this AI. Which causes them to experience the lovely 30 minute detour of a video call with your wonderful customer support agents. In summary, I wish I hadn't had to get dressed to talk to someone on my Webcam today, but at least she was nice.
I spend hours trying to get ID.me to accept my identification. When I tried to upload it the site would just freeze. Finally I got a message that I had been accepted. The next day I tried to check into the V.A. Using ID.me and was informed that there was an incompatibility in the information. I had to go through the process all over again with an additional I.D. to upload. The second time I used the video option and showed both I.D.s to an agent and got certified and was able to use ID.me to access the V.A. Site. I suppose there is some advantage to the V.A. Administration but I see no benefit for me. In fact it's an additional step and I have to make sure I have my cell phone with me while I didn't need it before.
Video selfie would not work at all. Kept stating not good even with multiple attempts following their procedures. System is faulty.
I am looking forward to using ID.me I am sure it will take some getting used to.
For a person who's not so good on technology is kind a hard for us to do the online application
Tried to log in with Login.gov most of this morning, was unsuccessful, gave me crap about my photo ID, finally out of frustration tried ID.me and had compleated it in no time at all
Good but it did take a long time but I got the job done filling out paperwork for the day.
The woman who helped me was very helpful with no problems. She understood me there was no bad connection and I got done what I needed to get done..
Signing up with ID.me is a bit lengthy, but proves to be safe and secure. Their agents are professional, and go out of their way to help you achieve a satisfactory identification process.
