ID.me is the worst experience of any company providing this kind of service. This is the 3rd time I've been forced to use it, and I hope my last. Any company that hires ID.me will have a terrible experience.
I deal with sensitive information daily, and one Company I deal with used ID.me to verify people wanting to get into their accounts. They had so many complaints and problems with the ID.me process they dropped their service. Do I need to say more except to stay away from ID.me.
Typical of every communication involving the IRS, the process was a run-around and gave me an "error" message after the very last click. I was directed to "try again". Absolutely not. It gave me the distinct impression this was a scam site and I just divulged all my personal information to the wrong folks.
Setting up login accounts with ID.me is not easy, but once everything is completed, ID.me has worked for us. I recommend ID.me.

This site is so easy to set up. It's safe, and provides a means to log into different sites that normally wouldn't know you. With IDme, you only have to use this info to log in to the various sites, with the security that you know your info is safe.
After spending weeks of my life trying to get my identity verify by trying all the options, my identity is still not verified. I am unable to claim my approved benefits. There is no one to help if there are problems.
There is incorrect info on the website. Example: It says to schedule an appointment with One Stop office. Waited week, drove a half hr. To be told they no longer help with ID.me. Gave me a sheet with UPS offices. The one I went to said they no longer did ID.me. After looking at the list, they said it was outdated. Tried the video. After downloading my license and being visually verified, I was told an email would be sent with steps to finish the process. It was never sent to my inbox or Junk mail. Forget trying to reach someone on the phone.
ID.me didn't take too long to set up, and came with easy-to-follow instructions. After setting up my profile, I've had a chance to learn how convenient and easy it is to use on different sites that required identity verification. I appreciate a secure and efficient federally-recognized service that is in place to make my life a little easier.

The entire complicated process felt like the government was trying to cover its $#*! should there be a data breach. I didn't feel my information was any safer for jumping through obfuscated hoops.
