I am a disabled combat Marine VA patient with an ID card went to VA to renew my ID card on line. A member of ID me long time should not have had a problem renewing my VA ID but Wanted three pieces ID to sign up for ID me! I was already a member of ID me! Very stupid!
I had tax fraud and the IRS made me use this site to verify my identification. It's extremely difficult to set up and It took me 15 MONTHS to finally get verified! They NEVER respond to any emails (with the exception of a bunch of automated response that didn't pertain to my problem I was having on their website.
So, after 15 MONTHS, I was finally offered a video call which got me verified, but because of this ID.me nightmare, My taxes were late 2 years in a row.
AVOID THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS
This is not quicker. This takes a long time I had to fill out the information scan the front and back of my drivers license. Then scan my Social Security card. Then do a facial recognition. And still had to schedule a video call. I was on hold for over 20 minutes. The agent was great! And was able to verify my ID quickly with the same ID and Social Security card that I had scanned in.
Terrible turnaround time, negligible technology online via mobile and computer, glitchy website technology, extremely low almost non-existent customer service.
This service is absolutely horrible and this is the experience of NJ citizenry as it relates to Unemployment Benefits. Why the State of New Jersey chose this particular company is totally reprehensible, The staff at this company, whenever they are able to be reached, are rushed and behave like robots, it feels like the staff has either been reduced, or they are forced to deal with the same faulty technology (or BOTH).
ID.Me is terrible, and you don't have to take my word for it… just look at all the reviews on Facebook. Ridiculous, this company is a joke. Took me 5 days to troubleshoot something which is basically their central function - I had to troubleshoot the document upload process - for 5 days playing hot potato with this company. 5 days.
Another app. Verification processing in my case took 4 days. No response on trouble ticket. No customer support phone number or chat. All data in one place waiting for massive breach. Links for support not readily available. Support is circular loops. Video support team insufficient bandwidth for streaming voice and video. Just a poor experience.
Both times I've used this service (against my will, I might add) they have been totally unable to verify anything from military service to my numerous professional licenses. Absolutely useless and a waste of time. Do not use if you can avoid it.
I don't understand why user ID and password aren't enough. I understand I MUST use this to log into SSA. I have set it up before to access SSA a few months back but had to set it up again to access recently. I don't get it. It's much more complicated.
ID.me is a bunch of parasitic databrokers who have managed to lock down exclusive contracts with several government agencies in the U.S. Use literally any other option if it is available.
Easy and efficient. Very self explanatory, highly recommend for use in logging in to any government website if you want it to be a simple process.
I started this process (trying to obtain some IRS documents of mine) using my desktop PC. It has a Logitech HD Webcam attached via USB that I've used many MANY times for video calls and conferences using a variety of video sites, like Zoom, Weber, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
I have NEVER been so disgusted in trying to connect with ANY site as I am with this overkill crap that's used by the IRS... "ID.ME" It's garbage! The ID.ME's Help! Feature couldn't figure out the issues I had with my Webcam! And I STILL haven't even finished proving I am what my TWO sides of my state's drivers license, the credit report verification, texting in (several times) six digit codes I was texted to MY phone from ID.ME says I am.
It's just plain insulting, demeaning and stupid that your software cannot connect with a perfectly fine web cam, requiring me now to TRY verifying my face by video to be able to see MY documents in the IRS.
Getting into my VA.GOV site, Social Security, and other US Government sites are a piece of cake compared with this crap. I can't wait to see how far I get using my phone! It's only wasted over two hours and counting. Now I try my LUCK using my cell phone!
They used Sam's Club logos. I believed they were part of Sam's process. Wrong. I could not use the discount they offered and gave up a ton of personal information for no good reason. I feel like an idiot.

A terrible company end to end. The entire experience is awful and I wouldn't use it if I weren't forced to by the IRS or California. Nothing worked on the first or even fifth try, and no ability to talk to a human to ask what is going wrong.
I was forced into using this service that locked me out was no help at all getting me back in and treated me like it was a perpetrator of some kind to get access to my own records. I would never have used them nor will I ever again unless I'm forced to just like I was this time. When I finally got everything I needed then it was questioned after question will you review us will you leave this message will you go to side jabber will you blah blah blah blah blah totally done with this and if you think I'm leaving a photo or any other b******* that would be incorrect

Went through the process, which was flawed by SMS failure of their system.
Added NOTHING to my ease of access to my SSA account as was promised.
Decided to investigate. Website failed testing by Burp Javascript Scanner.

Tried to ad proof of my ID.me application being completedwith a screen shot but this site said 100% then did nothing.
Easy to understand, easy to navigate through the filing process, a 0% stress experience
I wasn't able to use the self service, since I don't have a cell phone, driver's license, nor current passport. But the website system walked me through the process of uploading the necessary documents, making it very clear which ones I could use. The agent on the video call was lovely. She was very kind and patient (I am 93). I highly recommend ID.me!
