The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in its identity verification service, which many users found secure and efficient, particularly praising the helpfulness of customer service during video calls. However, significant concerns were raised regarding the complexity of the verification process, which some customers found frustrating and time-consuming, particularly older users or those with unique identification issues. Additionally, delays and technical difficulties, including issues with document acceptance and login credentials, have led to dissatisfaction among several users. Overall, while the service is valued for its security, improvements in user experience and support are essential.

Very hard to login. I am a disabled and can't comprehend your system. I takes so long to login.
Please remove my ID from your system.
I'll try other ways to contact the VA.
Thank you.

There were a number of steps to verify my identity (and then verify my verification!), with several back and forth requirements to enter information and upload documents, including returning to prior instructions and/or browsers/devices.
As a veteran this has really saved me time and frustration when my ID needs to be verified. In this day and age of scammers this service is vital to me.
Company harvests biometric data as a condition to access basic online services for SSA and taxes. Then sells consumer information to other companies without opt-out. Even before they are hacked and our information and ID pictures are stolen, they're withholding access to basic government services without allowing them to sell our information to spammers. This means that they are not a nice company.
After using your phone to take a photo of your drivers license and video clip, go back to your computer to finish the application process.
Hasn't the trump administration already allowed a third party access to our info? How much more/how many more people get to have all our info?
I can understand the need to ID oneself when accessing medical information about your self. But the requirement for a photo ID to access a website is over the top.
Taking a an acceptable verification image of your DL or passport to upload might be achallenge if gou have the newer anti-counterfeit ID tech with the hologram effect.
I am on the process of claiming survivor's benefits thru the VA and being able to identify myself could not have been easier.
I was very skeptical about it at first but ID.me was super easy. I trust them totally
Horrible interface that was trying to make complicated moves using a phone device! STUPID SYSTEM THAT WAS CLEARLY DEVELOPED BY SUBSTANDARD DEVELOPERS AND ADMINISTERED BY IDIOTS!
Started this on my first "free" morning in two weeks. I got an email saying that Social Security had a letter for me. Their IT people had messed up my log-in info so badly it was unusable, so I had opened an acct with IDMe several months before, so I'd have a better way to access Social Security.
Unfortunately, they didn't recognize my password for some reason, even though it was stored in my phone all this time. As a result, I had to go through the ENTIRE process over AGAIN, plus MORE!
It would time out when I got my drivers license. It timed out when I got my SS card. It timed out when I let the dogs out. It timed out when I got a call from my doctor. The instructions on a selfie video didn't pertain to my particular browser, so it timed out again! It didn't save any of my information entered previously, so each time I had to start over from scratch.
Eventually, I had to leave to pick up my grandchildren from their individual schools, which are quite a long distance apart, then feed them and take them to their individual afterschool activitiesβwhich took three hours. There was no way to pause this, so AGAIN, all was lost. At 6:30 pm I had to start over. By the time
I finished this entire form and all the photos required, the letter I had been trying to look at, that Social Security had posted, had EXPIRED! I never could retrieve it! I suppose they'll have to send it to me by registered mail!
This service worked flawless for access, the ease and speed of creating account to verify license, verifying phone number, facial recognition all flawless and for me it took about 15 minutes for you maybe less. I did the research this is approved by the U.S. government and is very secure and used widley.
It was a wonderful experience to know that the government cares about the connectivity of an international for a mutual trust and security of all data and information from both ends.
This is a third party company mandated by social security required to access your social security account. When I called social security to update my phone number for two-factor authentication they told me that they could not help me. I had already tried using the login.gov method over a period of weeks and found that I could not get it to work. So I called login.gov and they told me they match up my phone number with other phone numbers they found in the system but because my phone number was new and only a month old it may be months before they could match it up which is what led me to using id.me. I'm very unhappy having to use a third party application and provide my personal details including social security number photographs and biometrics just to get into my social security account when social security itself cannot help me get into the account. I don't know who id.me is other than it is a third party app that is mandatory or you will not get into your social security account anyway shape or form. And again I found it very intrusive having to provide driver's license images, personal information including phone numbers addresses and social security number. Then you had to do a video of your face. This is biometrics and tracking on a grand scale. No I'm sorry I don't recommend id.me or login.gov unfortunately one or the other must be used to access your social security account. The government can't help you social security can't help you you have to go through it. For people who are not versed well on a cell phone or computer this will become a very difficult process. I used it once to get into my social security account and I hope that I never see this third party application again on any other program that I'm involved with. Way way to intrusive. This is what big brother looks like. π‘
My experience with ID.me was very easy and straightforward. The steps were clear, and the verification process was quick. I was able to complete everything without any issues, and the support information was helpful. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service.
Many hours wasted trying to log onto my Social Security Account. ID me was unable to resolve my issue and left me without a way to log into my account. It seems that they washed their hands of my situation as it is still unresolved.
My accountant needed to update & access my SSA info for tax purposes. At age 72 I'm not that tech savvy. It was very helpful to have had my personal ID updated years ago to the "real ID" w the gold star.
He guided me remotely thru the procedure & it all worked. First time. I even got my disabled wife to hold still for ID verification scan.
Slight hitch was her mobile phone(which I sometimes carry) was not acknowledged by SS Admin. It was our Land Line we never use in the basement. SS Admin left her numeric code on phone machine. Whew.
