I went through the exercise and got confirmation that my identity is confirmed by ID.me, but BOTH IRS and Social Security Administration responded that there was a problem (no explanation what the problem is) and I could not set up the on-line account. So this was a total waste of my time.

It stinks and complicated for older Veterans. Every time you go on MY Health Vet they change the code on you instead of giving you a code that you can use all the time. And if you do not have a cell phone you are out of luck!

This new requirement to use ID.me for gaining access to the online 1099 report forms is nothing but a hassle. It took nearly an hour to jump through all the hoops required to establish the fact that I am who I say I am. When it came to the part about scanning the driver's license it took three tries to get the system to accept the photos sent. Then you have to do a video selfie. While it did accept mine on the first try, I don't know how mobility challenged people can do it themselves as you have to hold the phone absolutely steady or you have to start over. There has got to be a simpler, less time consuming system!
