It was a very easy experience setting up ID me. The app easily walked me through the whole process.
I was having a really hard time signing in to my social security account because I had to change my email. I was a victim of fraud where someone took money out of money bank account, so I tried to sign in with my new email. Impossible. Then I tried my old email address, and I still couldn't gain access to my account. I was really frustrated and that thought: what have I got to lose I will try this process, and it surprised me how simple it was.
My experience was very smooth and very fast. The video call agent was very polite and very friendly with tons of knowledge and experience! The whole process took 10 minutes or less and we were finished.
ID.me was super easy to use. Just fill out your information and provide your documentation and its approved so quickly if you qualify. I never knew about this but, so glad I do now.

I got my account along time ago, before September 18,2021. I always sign in with Social Security Username. Suddenly the SSA asked me Create an account id.me. After that, I can not going to my account id.me. So I can not access Social Security Service.
No one to ask questions. Now I have to delete my entire account and wait 7 days to set it up again and I still won't have answers to fix the mistake that I made.
Phone verification seems to fail if you don't have a contract with a service provider or perhaps it's not in your name and this probably happens to a lot of people. Texting a code should be good enough which is done as well. This failure will cause the user to have to video chat with an agent which could and did fail as well and maybe the user doesn't have a web cam. The agent instructed me to use zoom after the browser application failed. That worked, but what if you don't have a web cam? You may be able to use your phone? All of this trouble because of the failed phone verification. The phone verification is a terrible idea and whoever thought of it is an idiot that clearly didn't think of the different circumstances in which the process could go wrong. Also, not everyone has a cell phone. It's the worst idea. A good software engineer would have recognized the problems that users would encounter with this method. The problems translate to lost revenue. You should terminate the individual who developed this process and hire someone who is competent. They probably lied on their resume.You could save money if verification worked properly and not have to hire agents to do the process manually. Another possibility is that you want to cause this trouble to discourage users from completing the process? The verification mechanisms were not carefully planned and thought out.
Went to the post office did everything to verify my identity and I still cannot log on even though the email said that I have been identified. I have no one to help me there is no one available to help to fix this issue. I am still not able to log onto my account.
