For a significant discount on items ID.me was offered. This was through a website I've used for years, and is solely located in the USA. When I attempted to log in. I was rejected several times not understanding why. All my log-in and password information should have been correct. The Log-in redirect kept asking for my personal email's password. This already seems odd, "I'm thinking." But we're supposed to "trust" ID.me; they are linked to our V. A. and Driver's License information. So... I entered my email's private password. I was approved and things moved forward.
Less than a week later my business email (which is linked to my personal email) started receiving messages from my bank. These messages stated that I was suddenly overdrawn. Without stating how much money was in my account, I can tell you being overdrawn while doing nothing but working is IMPOSSIBLE!
I called the company that I was purchasing from. They indicated that they have no control over the link.
I then attempted contact with ID.me. I sent them the email that should have been active, and the front of my Driver's License that clearly states VETERAN. Then they wanted the back of my driver's license. When I crossed out my restrictions and the barcode (Leaving my name and operator class clearly visible.) they refused to help me further. This was a HUGE red flag to me. As these barcodes are state specific PDF417 Barcodes. Code generators and readers are all over the net, but to get a hold of an ID that's already uploaded into a state's DMV is nothing but an Easter Egg for Scammers.

I've now dealt with them 3 different times through EDD, DVM, and the IRS. The system keeps saying I have a duplicate account and I DO NOT. The so-called Trusted Verified Referee does not work... the buttons are dead. The selfie, if for some reason it gets that far, spins around and around and does not verify. Customer Service keeps sending the same useless emails, none of their services work. I used it in 2020 and barely got it to take my DL and SS... so where is this info if it's not in my account! Either there is a code bug or I've been hacked. One minute the buttons and service starts to look like it's going to work, then it doesn't. It's a complete mess and CS is useless. I will be filing a complaint with the State of California and press. I've been a software techie for 40 yrs and never seen anything like this... oh yeah... the State of California's systems that we spent 100s of millions on that don't work!

Was very easy to understand the instructions. Also, to verify it was me, I had to scan my ID and then also scan my face to make sure my ID matched. This should be implemented on all sites when paying online.
