ID.me requires an early wait just to get in video. This process combined with the process of other applications makes things frustrating. They should streamline the process and not be cheap about money in order to make customers happy.

I started this little venture a little over a week ago and It has been somewhat painful in terms of being patient and calm while trying to figure out what was goiin on with my laptop. However, after much tenacity I finally reached a Tech (Autumn) who was very patient, helpful and above all else Polite! She got me together with a quickness other phone workers would kill to possess. I was done in no time at all!
While the system does provide a valid and secure ID verification process, it has several flaws. A simple issue that should have been fixed quickly and easily took 3 weeks to correct. Each help ticket or request was met with unhelpful results, almost as if their employees were just taking shots in the dark hoping it would work, but thats what happens when virtually all communications are done through email with no actual phone number to talk to a live person. After more than two weeks and several help requests I finally was able to recieve a 'Zoom' meeting with an agent to address my needs. After that it took three more days befor the issue was finally addressed by their help department. Then it took over two hours of waiting for an agent, processing documents, and updating my account to finally get the issue resolved. This 3 week debacle could have taken less than a third of the time if you can just request to speak with an egent or schedule a video conference during the help ticket process.
Overall the system is a safe way to verify identity, just god forbid you have any complications with your account because a timely resolution is not an option.

Overall the site works very well and is easy to comprehend. My only complaint is that if you make a wrong choice, like choosing to use webcam instead of smartphone, or entering a wrong phone number for verification, you will get stuck with no way to go back and correct your choice. You'll have to start over. And know that it seems not able to verify a landline phone number because it only tries to send an SMS message, when it could offer a choice to call a landline and ask you to type a code.
Because it could not verify my phone number ownership, I had to use the live agent. That went well and I was pleasantly surprised there was no wait — I got an agent almost immediately and this was on a Saturday afternoon.
