I had the worse experience one could imagine. I had several issues with their website on 3 levels and stages and it it IMPOSSIBLE to speak with a person! Whenever you email an issue, their automated system assumes what you need and tells you to resubmit via their system without even understanding your issue or question. I took me 6 weeks before they finally gave me a person's name and number and when I finally spoke with her, she immediately resolved the problem. Meanwhile, my unemployment claim had been delayed already for several weeks because my identity could not be verified!
To make matters worse, when my identity was verified, the woman said I was "all set" forgetting that someone else would need to contact me to verify me thereby causing my claim to reject yet again until I was able to speak with this person. It and ID.me was a total nightmare!
It was easy just be patient because it may take some time to receive your amended tax return

I actually had to do this twice for some reason. Either way, both times the representative was cordial and the process was sort of easy. The folks working there are just doing their job and it's certainly not their fault that the IRS is backlogged so bad so cut them some slack.

I had a problem with the irs not loading after my identity was authenticated. I reached out to ID.me and the person was able to explain to me that I needed to use a different browser. After months of waiting and stressing, it finally went through. If the ID.me person wouldn't have taken time to look over my email and everything I would still be waiting. When I 1st tried the process, I had trouble uploading various documents for acceptance but after trying several times, the program somehow became easier & I was able to complete the process. Once accepted, the information is used for other government programs so it's most useful to go through this entire set-up since it speeds things up for the other programs.
