I needed to establish my credentials to enrol online with the Social Security Administration (SSA). I found a confusing array of means and methods offered, perhaps not all of them legit. Scrolling over several days looking at options, I landed on ID.me. Read a mix of reviews, some quite negative, as you do. Gave it a try anyway. I found the application was straightforward and logical, with information links at each step of the process readily accessible and the instructions easy to follow. I ran into a problem midway with a supporting document, my passport had expired. I sought clarification via email and received a "sorry" reply less than two hours later, even though local time there was in the wee hours. I followed up with a suggested alternate photo document for a work around, and again, received a response within hours, this time in the affirmative. Document transfer, review, approval and invitation to the video call ID confirmation interview followed within a day or two. During the video call the agent was unable to read one of my documents as held up to my low-resolution video camera, and waited patiently while I borrowed and installed a better camera from another computer. Once that was settled and ID verification completed, log on to the SSA website was easy. I was able to complete and submit my application online in days rather than wait over a month to start the process with a scheduled phone teleconference. Excellent all-around experience, I highly recommend this service.

I had tried to submit my claim strictly online but I was unable to complete the ID me portion to be able to access my application when I couldn't do that and I submitted the information required for a video call the process went smoothly I was able to upload my documents easily the site that you're directed to gives you a countdown which is great it keeps you updated on what's going on on your call and the representative was really friendly and helpful the hardest part was figuring where to hold the card in front of my face so that she could ID me! LOL
