The entre process was easy to follow, and the agent was professional and very helpful. The only issue was when I was waiting for the documents to be uploaded and verified prior to meeting the agent. Due to the fact that it was late at night it appeared that things got stalled, I stopped getting information on status. I signed out and got back in in the morning, and things got back on track.

My refund for 2021 was not what I had claimed on my return and I received no explanatory letter from the IRS. I tried for several months to reach someone who could explain the change to me, without success. I then saw where one could access tax records online using ID.me. I decided to give that a try. I was able to get my identity verified in short order and was then able to access my tax records. I downloaded my return, the changes to the return, and a comparison of the two. I will be sure to use this portal in the future. No more waiting on hold or trying to make an appointment to visit a field office. If you need to see an old return, or probably many other documents, this is the way to go.

My overall experience was fine. There were a couple of questions that were a bit confusing. I'm one to follow all the rules, but a couple of the questions would not allow me to answer completely truthful. It had to do with one's name. Some docs had full name some, and some still my name but not full. The form would not let me change it, without starting over. It still needed to be verified by an agent. So I answered the questions yes. The whole process was not too painful.
