I was unable to use the self-help service due to an issue scanning my face for the video part. This was very frustrating and there was no one to chat with to get the issue solved. I was forced to use the video call and it took about an hour in a half to get on.

In 2021 someone filed for and took my daughter's tax refund. By adding the 6 digit key that can't happen. One needs a way to get texts and emails to complete the process. Easy!

I can't imagine the ID.me verification method for sending biometric data to the IRS being a more painless experience, or less painful. I think the team that put this together did well, but I do tech support. Most of my clients would find the experience confusing and terrifying no matter how simply and clearly you spell out how biometric identification works or how secure this process is.

This was quick and very simple to complete. The one thing I didn't like was taking a video selfie. Even that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It scanned my face quickly and shortly after I was logging into the site I needed too.
