ID.me was secure. Uses 2FA and other ways to assure security. It provides communications of secure connections. It is nice to need only one sign on to gain access.
In the beginning, it was pretty simple. What I liked is they send you a text so you can upload your photos and documents. But we had a glitch, undoing a selfie, it didn't take the image. So it kicked us up to a priority that we had to do it a video verification. With more supporting documents which went real easy as well? Overall is pretty quick.If you have the right documents

They told me what to have ready before he came on the line. When he came on line he told me who he was what he was going to do and his help was invaluable. He told me he would send an email to me with the same information he told me online. Can't get any better than that.
Most frustrating experience I've had in a long time. Incapable of accommodating individuals who use more than one email address (e.g., one for personal, one for work). In my case they'd also erroneously previously verified someone else as my husband's spouse, leaving me unable to complete that verification. Initially very hard to get a response from customer service (send an email into the abyss and wait...), though to their credit, after more than a dozen emails over the course of a week, they were able to identify their error and do something in their system to allow me to successfully complete my verification. Still, I will do everything I can to avoid having to deal with ID.me in the future.
Yesterday, 07/13/2025, I was granted an IDme code of some kind. I thought it might be necessary to use today when I actually established an identity (I think). I don't remember being asked for that information. I am determined to gain access to my IRS account, now that I am aware of that possibility. Looking forward to viewing my tax documents, soon.

I've never left a review for anything, positive or negative. But today is the day. I purchased iPrescribe for $360, but was unable to use the app due to ID.me's broken verification system. If you have more than one email, the app will send you into a circular trap where you cannot be verified due to a "duplicate account" issue. They recommend you contact support, which is actually a chat bot named Roy who basically regurgitates the FAQ page and then states, "I do not understand your question. Can you ask again?" if you begin asking it any further questions. This will cause a loss of wages and an inability to use the app I purchased to prescribe medications to my patients. I will be reaching out to iPrescribe for a full refund and will also be letting them know to switch verification providers, as this company has simply given up. I will not be surprised if ID.me is replaced entirely by a competitor in 2-3 years. Further, I will be exploring my options for legal action due to loss of wages and shady business practices.

At first I thought it was just too much of a hassle to get my information verified but it really didn't take that long and as long as you have the items ready that are needed it's fine. I think it's well worth it to make sure it's you and not someone trying to steal your information.

I started using the irs.gov site to do my federal taxes for tax year 2021. Now something came up and I needed to retrieve my previous tax years information. I thought it was going to be tough to navigate an IRS site but actually it was very user friendly. I am super happy with the ease of using the irs.gov site.
