The IRS uses ID.me as a part of the sign in for personal info at irs.gov. I was shocked at the type and amount of additional personal info ID.me wanted so as to verify me to the IRS. These included all the standard items such a DOB, addresses, emails, etc. But then I was asked to provide a photo of my state issued photo ID (front and back), then a closeup face video. I received no explanation for this additional info need nor any explanation of how the data would be retained or discarded. That is pretty out there as far as I am concerned especially without any indication of the seemingly abrupt changes.
If you know how to use your phone/computer the rest is easy. From what I had heard/seen during the California EDD registration I am happily surprised how easy and quick this was!
