Have used the online deluxe version for years and has been wrong several years in a row but eventually goes through usually costing us more than they project as it doesn't catch much. For the 2021 taxes, we filed and then received a rejection. Contacted them and they have no information but are welcome to print and mail to IRS. No refunds and then they ended the chat when we asked another question. Disputed the charge and refiling using another online product. Never again and should have known better.
1st of all their customer service is useless. I don't know how many times I had to repeat myself and then they couldn't even answer my question which was in reference to the online tax filing system and if they were sending money using my checking account info to the IRS and/or Idaho Tax Commission or if was responsible. My printed tax form included reference to the IRS and it's aceptance of my return and a voucher. For the Idaho Tax Commission there were printed directions on how to pay them with a voucher but a voucher was not received hence trying to gain clarity with H&R Block customer service. So I sent a check to the IRS and payed Idaho Income Tax Commission through their website. The next day the money was withdrawn from my account per H&R Block for their fee, the IRS and Idaho Income Tax, thousands of dollars. Thankfully my husband rescued the IRS check from the post office that morning but Idaho Tax Commission said they couldn't reverse the 2nd debit even though they saw another (2) queue for payment and had already received the 1st. The representative of our fine government said it could take several weeks (to months knowing the government) for my return to process and they would see a double payment and refund my money. Wow! I hope that works out! Thanks for the great customer service and clarity! My bank couldn't do anything about it either since the transactions were both authorizedOh well, lesson learned. Don't use H&R Block!
I made an appointment with Sade Murphy in Colorado Springs on my lunch break to file taxes for my deceased husband and when I got there the office was closed and no one would answer the phone. Total waste of my time!
They charged me $425.00 to do my taxes. An accountant would charge $250 maximum, I only have one investment property and 3 jobs. I had an appointment and showed up and nobody was there no explanation no apology. They only wanted to give me $25 off my final bill for that inconvenience when I lost A-day off work and gas. HR block Coventry did not get back to me after I called corporate for about 3 weeks. Lois Marandola was very rude to me on the phone. She lied and said they could only take $50 off And she did not even tell me that she was from H and R block she expected me to know who she was. I called corporate again to complain. They had somebody call me back at 705pm and tell.me I would get $75 off but I had to pay by midnight. I was at work. I called corporate to complain again how rude they spoke to me as if they were a collections agency. The general manager finally called me back and they took a $100 off. Lois your a liar, and you said the max you could take off was $50. Thank you and thank you to the other clown who gave me a deadline and was rude. I ended up saving 100.
Do not go here they will rip you off and they don't care or even apologize for their mistakes. They behave like used car sales people nice to your face once there's a problem they don't get back to you and give you the run around!
First I have been charged for something that's not true and when they said it was from 3 years ago and I did taxes with them for the last 2 years without this charge. Hmmm. Second my state tax was never sent even though I did my taxes in January. Calling and getting resolution is impossible. I been lied to passed around multiple times given fake numbers. Been left in silence for 20 minutes then hung up on. Then finally after 3 months I bring all evidence of everything and the manager refuses to see them to avoid the truth. She knows I'm agitated and refuses to accept any documentation or answer any questions until it came to the point where I was being treated as if I was not allowed to ask anything and also told me she couldn't help til I be quiet. Then when I come to back and told her to give me supervisor number and told her this is theft and wrong doing two other employees come behind me as if they were security. And start taunting me for a reaction. I hope this is not how this company treats customers. At this point I want the money back for filing fees and this other fee for past services that I did not have reimbursed. I have never been disrespected like this ever. I strongly recommend any other tax company just on the poor customer service alone.
Hr block does not stand behind $#*!! When you have a problem with your taxes and you call them, they will give you attitude and act like the mistake is all your doing and they didn't have $#*! to do with it! I went and did my taxes at the south Broadway location and the $#*! in there messed up and when I called cause I had a question she had an attitude from jump so now I have to go back in and I won't be going back to south Broadway location! I'm going to the one on gravies cause the woman was willing to explain things to me and told me they would take care of me but the downfall of that is I have to pay out of pocket but that's ok. Somebody needs to check the hr block in St. Louis on south Broadway cause they rude as hell and the one lady at the front desk always wanna talk about someone with her ugly $#*!
I originally tried to get in touch with an online expert to do my taxes. She ignored my messages for 8 days and no update so i went in person to see a different tax rep. She told me she didn't know how to file anything but a w2 (I had a w2 and 1099 from doordash) but she would try. She seemed very confused during both forms and was very slow with the program and computer. She kept trying to call her husband for help. I noticed she tried to file for me a Schedule C Form which I did not need. I kept asking her why she was filing this but she said she needed to. She told me her husband will finish my taxes and she'd call me. She calls me and tells me the return amount and says I would owe HR block $355 to file! Insane! She told me the schedule c form was $200 to file. I again told her I don't need it she said I do. I told her i'd rather file with turbo tax and she said turbo tax is cheaper, but this would be "good business for her." I don't know if they get commissions or bonuses but that was very strange to me. I went to turbo tax and it costed me only $108 vs their $355 and the return amount was exactly the same despite me not using a schedule c form. Very interesting. Not necessarily blaming her for the price but I can't imagine people wanting to pay hundreds more? Also why do they employ "tax experts" who do not know how to file anything but a w2? (which is by the way literally just typing in boxes the same info that's on the paper)
I have used this program last year and it seemed to be decent and easy to use. So, I thought I would use the program again and I selected the "free do it yourself" option. I must say that this year (2021) was the worst ever. They did not even give me this years available tax credits, "work from home and the energy tax rebate"
I started in early March and I wanted to submit them early and soon after I filed, I realized that this credits were not even an option. So needless to say, if you want an extra $500 to $900 on your 2021 tax return, maybe look for another program to use. I will be out the $900 and can only hope I will have an opportunity to claim it for next years taxes... who will be with another company.
Program is not user friendly. I Have a tax background and I still find it difficult.
Filed a federal and California state return electronically and was charged twice for the California. Tried repeatedly with 6 different reps to get it corrected to no avail. On wait for at least a half hour each time. Have now challenged the duplicate charge with the credit card company.
Would not recommend this software to anyone, nor will I use it again
The person doing g my taxes could not get my refund to go onto anything but the emerald card. You can't use it like they say and I am very upset. To top it off he screwed up my taxes by over 1000 dollars. I have never had a mistake like that elsewhere. When I called the woman that answered said oh well it is your fault for not giving us the right info. Really? Most awful experience ever.
First off, don't even think about getting their service. I have first-hand experience where tax preparer told me to file an incorrect amendment resulting in couple of thousand more in taxes to state. They didn't even accept the fact that she was mistaken and didn't refund the money.
Overall, I can fully vouch that this is a fraudulent business practice with zero damns about customer while charging hundreds of dollars in legal fees. Not recommended at all.
Really poor client service quality. Bad attitude from personal. Can not discuss any details, just a drop paper and go services. No respect for covid protocol.

HR Block cost me $******* in IRS and State interest and penalties, would not return my calls, and has cancelled 3 appts w me related to their errors.
HR Block has no customer support center and contacting them for any help is impossible.
Be very careful before you use this most horrible of businesses.
The IRS assigned me a pen# because someone tried to use my SS#. Since I'd moved a time or two I failed to give the P. O. my change of address. (That's when it went down hill) After trying in vain to contact the IRS for two years to get my new pin # that they send a different one every year. (Endless attempts) I was told the only way to get my stimulus check(s) was to file through the mail. I go to H&R Flop and explain my situation, I hadn't worked in a year, so I did have a W-2 just the stimulus checks (3 of them) the lady said No problem, she's done this plenty of times. I paid her my $80. Up front & she assured me ALL is well. I didn't get No check in 2 mths. I called her back, again she reassured me its all good. A month pass I called again that office was closed, tax season was over. Here it is a year and a tic later, now I do have W-2s I've been working. I finally track the lasy down. She gives me the cold shoulder, and while laughing at me constantly telling me what she can't do. Now it's call the IRS, call the IRS. What happen to I'm a see this through with you, and ALL the assurance & reassurance? I know who I won't EVER again File my taxes With. H&R Crock!
I AM COMPLETELY DISSAPOINTED AND STRESSED OUT WITH HR BLOCK. I HAVE FAXED 2X A TRANSFER REQUEST TO HAVE MY FUNDS TRANSFERRED INTO MY EXTERNAL BANK. I WAS TOLD BY 3 REPS THAT IT WAS RECEVIED AND IN PROCESS. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO WAIT THE 5 BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE TRACKING OR FILING COMPLAINT. TODAY IS DAY 6 AND THEY HAVE NO TRACK OR RECORD. I WAS HUNG UP ON 4 TIMES AND NOT ONE REP OR SUPERVISOR WAS ABLE TO HELP GIVE ME AN ANSWER AS TO WHAT HAPPENED TO MY PAPERWORK. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT TO ACCESS MY FUNDS. COMPLETELY DISSAPOINTED AND WOULD NOT RECCOMEND ANY ONE TO USE EMARALD CARD SERVICES WITH HR BLOCK. THEY DO NOT CARE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I was a premium customer who always filed physically in their New York location. One year, though I provided all the info to my accountant and paid in time they forgot to submit the taxes. I was heavily charged for late filing by IRS. They promised to pay it…it has been a year and a half since, hundreds of email calls and open cases, and they don't give a …. I wouldn't get close to them if I were you, since they know how to charge but not how to take responsibility for an issue, even if it was caused by them.
My 1st appt. Was with Don who told me 3 times to take off my mask... I said "no". Then, he told me I needed my agi from 2020? Why not tell me this before appt. And couldn't we get this online instead of sending me home? Anyway. 2nd. Appt with a woman a week later, I only needed my state done. I was on time and she was on her lunch break and ate her lunch the whole time my taxes were being done by her. I have no idea if my taxes are done right or not -for 65.00... just for state? Wow. I will never go there again. This was (coalmine n pierce office)
H&R Block (deep sigh) used to be a credible way to file taxes, but the software is poorly executed. Its a clumsy program and keeps making me cycle back to verifications that it doesn't have a way to actual "verify". Finally I went to e file- gave my credit card (for yet another charge up fee) and suddenly it can't find the free federal efile code and asks me to call technical support. So I waited online in the chat for 20 minutes, then called the 800 number only to wait for another 34 minutes and have customer service hang up on me. This is the last year I am using this software. Poor customer service and bad software.
After claiming to be a free service I was immediately hit with extra fees just to continue processing some doordash income. I agreed initially but by the time I finished they said I would have to pay an extra $55 to process my exemptions which made absolutely no difference in my refund by the way. So they're supposedly free service was suddenly charging me $100 for absolutely nothing and they wait until you're finished and exhausted with the process to bother telling you hoping that you just give up and pay the money. I wasted over an hour of my time
Answer: Used to be legit. Does not feel like they value customers anymore.
Answer: No success stories, this year was a fiasco and Block did not lift a finger to fix. Arnold Wipf is the worst
