After completing my forms for self-employment and the state form I went to check out. They had added a service of having a "Pro Review" for $89.00. I spent hours on hold trying to get that charge off as after filing myself for 37 years, I don't think I need pro review. One person told me I had to have it because I filed self-employment but that is not true at all. It was a slimy up sale. After another 50 minutes I was told that the only way I can get rid of it is to not file a schedule C. Again, not true. We need to get our taxes in so I paid the fee and figured it's money lost that I would try to recover later. Not the case. They sent my taxes to a "Pro" who indicated she would get to them in 3 days. I told her I don't want her services or anyone's services, I just want my taxes sent. She released them to me but I can't print or send them although everything has been paid in full!

But wait, there's more. I spent a total of 3.75 hours on the phone and an additional 2.5 holding in their chat just trying to speak to a live person. I was zero in the queue in the chat multiple times as I watched it bounce back and forth from 0 to 1 before they finally disconnected me. When I logged back on, they were closed. I was hung up on after waiting 50 minutes, 48 minutes and then after I had waited 56 minutes and told my call would be answered in approximately 20 minutes, the next message was your call will be answered in approximately 50 minutes! I held until I was hung up on once again.

They refuse to release the tax forms to the IRS. WTH?

UPDATE: after an additional 2.5 hours, I received a refund on the $89.00 but now there are errors that can't be fixed. A help ticket was created. So, I still can't file my taxes. Grrrr...

I don't know if I can use the word cluster$#*! online. However, the word best describes my H&R Block experience in their Euclid Avenue office, Helena, Montana. I used the walk-in option - my information was in order - I filled out the required information and left my paperwork.

After some time, I called to inquire as to the status of the preparation. They couldn't locate my file and intimated I must have taken my information to a different office. My file was under my middle name but I had to suggest they look there.

My work was given to a temporary employee - terminated on 15 April. She totally screwed up and I had to explain the error. When I then received a call saying the mistakes had been corrected - although I was told that a particular item of concern couldn't be calculated because it "wasn't in their system." I had earlier been advised "there was no extra charge" because the taxes were originally incorrect, but when I went to pick them up - there was an additional charge added. I explained that was not my understanding and I ended up not paying the additional fees - which seemed about right given the situation.

The absolute worst. Wanted 120.00 dollars for a simple tax return i. E. 1044ez could not get forms to file because everything is shut down due to virus went to H&R Block to file and got prices from one hundred and ten dollars to over one hundred and eighty dollars. What a crock they are ripping off people who don't have any other way to do the right thing and file there taxes they should be ashamed along with our federal government who recommend these people.

I used h and r block a couple years ago. Paid about $200. Ok not so bad. This year I pair $470, yes I got the identity thief and the IRS guarantee which was $55 extra. I did lyft driving for 10 months this year. My preparer told me after the standard deduction from my lyft mileage, I profitted $158. Had to pay h and r block a $99 business fee. I had over $1300 worth of gas receipts oil changes new tires tire rotations on my Lyft car. Then was told the stand mileage would give me more back. Will not be using h and r block anymore. 45 min of their time and it cost me way too much money. Just cuz people are not good with paper work we get raked over the coals. Pure corporate greed. Never again. Their prices used to be reasonable, now they are just crimnal.

I never had a bad experience like I did with H&R Block getting my tax done, it took literally 3 hours only to find out the little that I was getting back, well the little went to them.
The excessive prices are ridiculous charges was robbery, would never go there again, went and got my text done in the past (2004), and just thought I would try them again for 2019, the worse mistake ever I will never recommend not get my text done there again.

I was a customer of H and R block for over 25 years. I always Paid for their protection insurance. But they failed to follow email direction that was given to them and they cost me several thousands of dollars. The outrightly lied and said they never received any information and they would not support their claim to supporting their client do not use them. I have also listed complaints on the BBB And I received one call back and they didn't have 1 good piece of information Concerning my account our complaint. I tried several times to call them back and they simply tell you that the file is closed and no one is there to talk to you.

I've been with them in Maui for the past 20 years and never felt comfortable with them. For the past 2 years they have made so many mistakes not only with my Federal and Hawaii taxes but also my Excise tax. And of course these offices send me letters of wrong payments, late payments and fines to deal with. I, in turn send this documents off to H&R Block on Vinyard St. Waiuku, and even after scanning all the documents and calling them they never respond or deal with all the problems. They know they screwed up, and I have to deal with it. They just want me to go away.

Their Website is fine; but it stops there! My regular firm decided this year to go out of business (so sad, 15 years of great reliable service). I was in a hurry as I planned for a business trip overseas. Block was close to home, convenient plus I was in a hurry to get it done. After about 4 yours my taxes were done and everything submitted to FED & State. By the time I got home that day I had a few Emails from them; two telling me the FED & State had accepted the returns, burden lifted. By the time I was ready to leave for the trip I had received a number of Emails from them, mostly about how I rated the service. I sent back an Email stating the service rep. Met my expectations. Well it seems that was not enough as I kept getting forms to complete; how did I?, and would I questions. [DEL] key. To no avail continued to requests. I do NOT and will NOT recommend any business or services to any of my friends, if they have a bad experience it is suddenly your fault and peuff an angry friend. I can only suggest do not give them your Email.

I have used HR block on and off for several years. I have used them online and as a walk in client. I can tell you they definitely are not free but they are cheap. It cost me under $100 every time I walked in and it took about 30 minutes. They do a great job of keeping your files and they do seem to ask better questions than I would have thought of on my own. Very worth it for me for the peace of mind knowing my taxes have been properly filed.
