The Tax Professionals in one office (5) are not certified. There is a major investigation and reported to the IRS.
We have used their services for years…. But 2021 taxes filed in 2022 was at a new location in another state. They totally ignored information we provided, which caused the rejection of our returns by all 3 entities we filed with, and then had the audacity to charge us for the amended returns with no ramifications for the original preparation staff, one of which was alleged to be a 24 year enrolled agent! I will never again use this company as incompetence seems to be rewarded.
H&R submitted my 2022 tax return in September 22 with errors and failed to inform me for nearly 2 months. I had to phone them to find out.
Federal taxes done incorrectly and got 1000 less back. Did not claim property taxes on my state therefore I did not get the property tax rebate. I only knew it was done incorrectly because I didn't receive the rebate and called. The tax pro has denied me a refund even though he messed up my taxes and I paid 270 for his services. Now I get screwed out if the rebate. Unacceptable
I've used them for 10+ years through their online products with tax professional support.
This year I've repeatedly received the worst service ever with multiple CPAs through their online tool telling me they will work on my return on a specific day to then just disappear and never even reply to my many messages requesting an update.
I had to call their support line multiple times to ask what was going on and ended up being assigned, accepted and ghosted by multiple CPAs.
On top of all that the CPA that eventually filed my return, late because of the above, make some significant mistakes that I'm trying to get fixed.
I don't know what happens this year, they worked flawlessly for 10+ years and this year they seem they have never held a real job in their life!
Worst experience ever with any company. Late filing, refused to pay late fees, terrible communication, did not answer call, no appeal process. Do not use
I am divorced and share custody with my ex-husband. I paid for assistance package total of $250. I explained specifically my needs and the person who filled my taxes did a mistake which cause a rejection of my ex-husband tax return. When I wanted to amend my return I had been told that the worker is no longer working now to assist me, since this is not the season for return. I had to pay an other accountant to do my return which cost me much more. H and R block never gave me my money back.
35 year business owner; impossible to work with; unresponsive simply needed them to process a return
I had been going to H&R Block for at least 15+ years. And for most of them, never an issue. I don't know what has happened in the last 4-5 years at H&R Block, but this year I am paying 2,000.00 to CRA due to mismanagement of my taxes being done by H&R Block for that last few years. I am beyond words. I will not be attending this company again this year or any year hereafter for any of my tax needs. From this kind of mess up I could have just done them myself and made a wish over them that I got it right. I would amount to the same quality of care.

With him completing it in a very short time and our communication with him during the process was excellent. He is highly recommended by us!
16 years I've filed with H&R Block. I will never use this service again after the fiasco that is my 2021 taxes. First I had to mail my taxes by mail because one crypto form they had online led to an error on their website and flagged that it could not be filed online. (the error being one form required multiple dates for a crypto trade, and the following form would not accept the trade date.) So I paid my $100 prep fee printed my forms and paid to mail them in. Fast forward 5 and a half months later... my taxes just got returned because my W-2s were not included with my tax paperwork. (You know the ones I uploaded and included in my tax return filing.)
I spoke with one customer service agent that was going to refund part of my fees for the error, but my computer died, do I chatted up another agent who then said she would not refund it because, "I used the product, so we can't refund anything."
After I gave up, she accused me of missing a step and not following directions. (I am looking at my mailing instructions that included no mention that any other documents would need to be included in my finished tax docs.) Then I got a snarky ending to our chat, thanking me for being the reason H&R Block is so great.
H&R Block error meant I had to mail my taxes.
Almost 6 month for the IRS to process.
A missing do means I have to refile.
And then I'm treated like garbage.
Never again.
Disgusting service Spent 15 minutes with the manager Janice Who proceeded to copy and paste my tax return from five years ago did not listen to me at all did not claim f**k all I earn more money this year than I did last year and I got Less back $184 for what? She then proceeded to put my tax return into an old bank account that I had five years ago so they returned it and I'm waiting for them to send it back out been waiting almost 3 weeks now disgusting service don't ever go to H&R Block in Byford

I'm a FIFO worker so I have to fit a lot in in the week I'm off. And be very aware I organise myself properly. I booked an apt from work the day after flying in.my tax return was very basic. I noticed 4 days later they hadn't even lodged it. So I called to ask what was going on. The receptionist said they had encountered a problem with lodging it. And giver her 5 mins to chat to her supervisor and she would call me back in 10 min. I hung up and rang ato. They said they had no sign of anyone trying to lodge a claim for me. And ther was nothing that would cause a problem for lodging. I got put on hold for ages as they were busy. 3 hours later I had received no call back from h& r block. So I called informed her of what I'd been told. She said I'm sorry I ha very to speak to my manager but she's busy. I said u said u were calling me back in 10 I had other things I could be doing. You could have rang back to let me know there would be a delay. I asked to speak to anybody but her as her only solution was that I did my tax return and lodged it myself. She said her supervisor and all the consultants were busy. I said I've been waiting 3-4 hours. She suddenly says ok ok you wanna speak to a consultant. I said yes please. She flicked me over to hold them hung up on me. Iv bee told to do my tax return and lodge it myself after being told I'd be called back in 10 mins. I got lied to over and over again today. If u don't like lodging tax returns and don't like speaking to your customers. Why call yourself an accounting firm. I never raised my voice but I just wanted to speak to someone who could answer why it hadn't been lodged or tell me when they were going to. I waisted a whole day still don't know and I got hung up on. This is the Cannington office. I've been to byford. They lodged while I as sitting there. I had a good experience with them. But in the end they are all under the banner of H&R block. If. They let an office like this exist. I will never waist my time or take the risk to be treated so discustingly again. I'm absolutely gob smacked.

Horrible experience…. It supposed to be a professional phone call appointment for tax return, after most of the time waiting for the staff to learn how to open the files from her college, when half way through process, the staff told me she will call me back as she just have a walked in client to be done first, Have me waited more then an hour for her to call back to get the rest of few questions done.
Great place to go during tax season. Trust them to do the best they can to be sure you get the the return you deserve. Expensive but worth it. After you pay them they are done with you. Do not believe they are there for you beyond April. Having issues with the IRS, I provided more than enough information so H&R had only to do was put that in an envelope and mail it. I also need to sign a letter. Still waiting almost a month for that letter. So will I to have to pay late fees?
I have been using H&R Block for twenty years. This years on-line version is an atrocious disaster. We paid, and filed, my wife was sitting next to me. I used to be a network administrator. It did not work and we only found out when not understanding why we didn't get a return. On-line help is useless and now, wanting to print my return seems impossible. Please avoid this software at all costs. I really hope a class action lawsuit opens up because I'm in.
Their tax "advisers" are simply clerks who fill out an automated form for you. Their system knows nothing about capital gains, and therefore they know nothing about the 15% capital gains tax. They do know about some deductions, however.
I don't recommend Turbo Tax either. Their system is badly flawed, although they will never admit it. After much research I ended up using Tax Act. I am sticking with them from now on.
Filed 3/24/22 with tax pro Jerilynn Harris. Received notice that I was all set sit back, checks on the way. 5/11/22 talked with Eugenia she gave me a case number, said technical error and someone will call me with in 3 to 5 days. 5/24/22 called *******625, got Jeanette she transferred me to escalation, disconnected. Called back *******625 got Anthony, he trsf me to escalation. Got Kathleen in retail escalation, said she could not help sent me to Dominique at *******639, Dominique said her system froze, then she hung up on me. Dialed *******639, got Leslie, she transferred me to Alec at *******334. He is in retail, said he could not help and sent me to Mikalah at *******288. She was very helpful. 45 minutes later, she sent me to Jennings at *******128. It has now been over 2 hours and no resolution.
Answer: Used to be legit. Does not feel like they value customers anymore.
Answer: No success stories, this year was a fiasco and Block did not lift a finger to fix. Arnold Wipf is the worst
