I have been using HR for 4 years, last year 2021 IRS said something was wrong and made me pay 800.00, I also look at the cost to use the program, ok they need to make some money. But when you file a state return they take you to the cleaners in fees. I also notice on their website that they only have 5 star reviews, Its clear they pick and choose what reviews they want posted. That is a deception.
We've gone to H & R Block for years. This is will be our last. Our tax preparer acted scatterbrained and kept pushing me to download their app which wouldn't work then we had to pay even more for their services and my son who alwsys gets back at least $2,000 was told his job took exactly the amount of taxes he owed so he was neither getting anything back or owe. I've never heard of such a thing and he's been doing taxes for 6 years and always got something back. The front desk girl was rude. Never ever again

I have been using H&R Block most of my 63 years of life. I just fired them. Make an appointment and they have clients telling life stories. Not going to get to you for hours. I wont put up with that crap from doctors, lawyers or tax preparers. Going to try Jackson Hewitt at 12:30 pm. If I get the same nonsense, I will fire them as well!
Where to start. I sent the tax specialist my documents via email as she had requested. She has been doing our taxes for a handful of years so I trusted her. My 1st mistake. We go to our appointment, she has our taxes prepared, we sign and a year later Ireceive a letter from the IRS that I owe them OVER $3000. Long story short the woman forgot to include my Unemployment Benefits (2021 Covid). I didn't check her math...My 2nd mistake. I have PROOF I emailed all my income documents to her. I can't even get someone from H&R Block to speak to me about this issue and she is asking me for $99 to "help". She keeps saying I should have paid for the piece of mind guarantee. I didn't think I needed piece of mind that she was doing her job & not making HUGE mistakes. I know it was an accident but not even an apology and I'm in debt to the IRS thousand plus penalties and interest.
Im not going to share this woman's email address on the internet. But if anyone would like to see the proof I definitely have it. I can share the emails and texts to prove the mistake
I Initially was angry with them. I felt they didn't do my taxes right but they did. Bernadette was very professional. I don't understand the tax system and had difficulties since my spouse passed away. I'm angry with the system not h and r block. I didn't realize how daunting this process is. And it's true the more you make the more they take. I never made that much money but now I have a lot more income and I see how the tax system works. It's very frustrating
They now after 4 years of using them as a joint account. Have my social wrong and says file single. Who did they sell the company to and what did they do with their brains. The news says they sold it to India and now it is the dumb stupid mindless worst group I have ever had dealings with.
I've had good experiences with H and R Block until this year. I filed my taxes online and made the mistake of using the "tax pro" service. The person in question ("Belinda Pierce") allegedly completed my taxes. However, I was not allowed to e-sign my document. I contacted Belinda about this repeatedly and was ignored. I called their customer service line several times. I even went to a brick and mortar H and R block and they were unable to help me (though they did tell me I had been charged for a service that hadn't been completed). I now have to wait one week for a phone call from their tech support. Why am I the one waiting? This has been the worst experience I have ever had in filing taxes.
Just did our 2022 taxes in holland, mi. First of all, the lady we had do them acted like she didnt even knwo how to simply enter in the info, even though we have been going there for years. Then, my husband has an HSA account and she had to ask numerous times for help, stating she didnt know how to file them. Now we supposedly owe the federal over $1200, but somehow still supposedly get over $900 back from state? Doesn't make any sense. We have never in our lives owed money, so we will definitely be going somewhere else for a 2nd look and going elsewhere in the future. That place is horrible, and will never again trust them to do ours again.
I scheduled my first appt for Friday, 3 February with my usual prep person. I arrived on-time and waited for an hour. During that hour I saw 3 people served by my prep person, the 3rd, appeared to be a walk-in as the receptionist said, "we'll try to get you in today". When this person was serviced before me, i finally said to the receptionist, "What's happening here? I had an appointment at 4, I've been here for an hour watching people get in to see my preparer". The receptionist responded that I didn't have a confirmed appointment, because I didn't answer the confirmation calls (which I did not receive). She even told me the number they called was disconnected, then confirmed they had the wrong number for me despite doing my taxes for 2 years, and same phone number for 25yrs. So, no confirmed appointment and the receptionist lets me sit for an hour without telling me.
2nd appt, Monday, 6th of February: Sat for another hour watching people come and go with my preparer then someone comes in from the street and asks for an appt with my preparer who is meanwhile sitting in his vacant cubicle talking to a co-worker. I said to the walk-in, "good luck, I've been here an hour waiting to see him", to which the receptionist retorted, "Your appt isn't with him, it's with Mary"...so they took the liberty to change my tax preparer unbeknownst to me and certainly not to my approval. Another 5 minutes goes by and I'm called by the receptionist to the cubicle only to be turned around by Mary, the supposed new prep person because she wasn't ready for me. At that point I walked out, and told the receptionist why i was doing so. DON'T go there, unless you like being treated as if your time has no value. H&R Block Dodge St., Dubuque Iowa. If I could give zero stars, I would!
I had my tax return completed in early January. Federal and Illinois State IRS began accepting on January 23,2023. After a few days I inquired about why my taxes had not been sent to the IRS. My tax expert said she would be sending it. After waiting again, I called the main phone line for the company and was told that my return was being audited. I then realized that I was confused if this was an H&R Block audit or IRS. I called back and the representative said IRS. Something sounded fishy with the story. So I recontacted my tax preparer and she said that there was actually an issue in the company switching between an old system and new system. I was lied to by H&R and my taxes weren't being audited by the IRS, but rather H&R Block messed up. My tax preparer said she would send my state return in but it is now February 6,2023 and hasn't been sent in. Don't trust a company that will lie to you when dealing with your money. H&R has lost my business.
Where do I start?
Firstly, H&R Crock gave my February 11,2022 (at 5 p.m.) appointment, which I made a year prior, to a person who just walked into the building, sans appointment. I was informed to leave my tax materials and return at a later date. Appointments are often difficult for me to make, considering the fact that I work unusual hours at a job 35 miles away from that particular office (5817 South Archer Avenue, Chicago, IL).
Secondly, my taxes were finally prepared by one Sharon Miles at said office. She refused to acknowledge the more-then-$13,000 in medical, dental, and government debt expenses I accrued in 2021. A year ago, she promised that I would receive every penny of those exemptions back. Make a promise, keep a promise, right? Thanks to her, my refund dwindled, while my fees skyrocketed.
Thirdly, I was manipulated, by Mrs. Miles, into purchasing their absolutely-worthless, highly-expensive Peace of Mind service. What Peace of Mind? All I received were endless e-mails and texts, as well as additional debt on the credit card I used to pay for this insufferable service.
Fourthly, the home office downtown contacted me about an angry survey I left HRC regarding. The woman on the phone actually offered to redo my taxes, as a result. I never heard from a peep from that office again.
This year, I'm saving the headache and keeping more of my money with TurboTax.
Ms. Annette Kenney was very professional and truly pleasant. She gave great service and shocked me, at how quick she was doing this process, I felt like I was practically in and out. I truly recommend her services to the fullest. Her service is GREAT! Out of all of these years, she was the best I've dealt with yet. She earned her 5 STAR RATING from me!
After buying 2022 software still unable to use activation codes, 2 phone calls to representitives I guess they just stole my money! Do not buy use another product
Why is it every yr. You go to them to file your taxes the price goes up and up! Its a computor program all they do it put the info. In theres no figuring no anything the computor does it for them! And i paid over $100- more than last year! Its disgusting! Not going there anymore!
You cannot reason with them. Instead you will be the transferred from person to person- explaining the same complaint without resolution. They should be reported to the FTC. It is the most unprofessional- unethical sham of a company.
They need to be sued for their practices.
I think I will take this up with a federal agency.
50 Carrige Oaks Dr., Tyrone GA ******* is a horrible place to go for your tax, avoid at all cost. 2019 they made me lose every bit of my returns. The mistake they made on my forms they would not fix it. When I call the office they would not respond.They gave
Me the run around. When I go to there office they treated me unprofessionally even though the mistake that was made by them and could easily be corrected but they refused to let me talk to they staff member that file it for me. Every time IRS reach out to me I reached back to them they refused to correct the mistakes. At the end they made IRS took all my refund the next year. That office the staff there don't care about you. I lost $7000 because they filed incorrectly. I would not even send an enemy there let alone a friend.
The Tax Professionals in one office (5) are not certified. There is a major investigation and reported to the IRS.
We have used their services for years…. But 2021 taxes filed in 2022 was at a new location in another state. They totally ignored information we provided, which caused the rejection of our returns by all 3 entities we filed with, and then had the audacity to charge us for the amended returns with no ramifications for the original preparation staff, one of which was alleged to be a 24 year enrolled agent! I will never again use this company as incompetence seems to be rewarded.
Answer: Used to be legit. Does not feel like they value customers anymore.
Answer: No success stories, this year was a fiasco and Block did not lift a finger to fix. Arnold Wipf is the worst
