HP Reviews Summary

HP's reputation is increasingly marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and product reliability issues. While some customers praise the quality and reliability of HP products, particularly laptops and printers, many express frustration over unresponsive support, complicated return processes, and inadequate troubleshooting assistance. Common complaints include lengthy wait times, ineffective repairs, and a perceived lack of care for long-term customers. This growing discontent suggests a need for HP to enhance its customer service approach and address product support challenges to retain customer loyalty and improve overall satisfaction.

Been buying and Using HP Laptops, Scanners & Towers since 1996... Recently had a problem with my model 15 laptop I bought from BestBuy 4 months ago, a faulty charging circuit. Grabbed my Manufacturers warranty & called the toll free number. They sent UPS to me, Rushed it across the country And they Rushed it back to me in UNDER a week, free of charge. Fully repaired and in proper working condition. With all these bad reviews I expected to be screwed!
Will continue to Use & Recommend HP to Friends & Family!

Worst experience ever! I bought a HP pavilion x360 convertible laptop in August from India. One of the reasons I selected HP is it's international warranty since I moved to Dublin, Ireland after buying it. In less than 2 months the laptop suddenly died and stopped responding.
Customer care representatives said that it will take upto a month to get it fixed after it reaches them. Refused to provide any sort of replacement (permanent/ temporary) during that period. Then it took them a whole week just to get it picked up (had to stay home till then)
After following up aggressively I was promised that the laptop will reach me by 15th Oct. Then today, again they pushed the date to 18th Oct. I am not sure if it's the final one. Better to get MacBook instead. This model was not very cheap either!
Also, when I asked for the channel to escalate, HP watsapp chat support executive said there is no way to do so! Highly inconvenient and worst experience I ever had.

My printer setting somehow switched to Japanese paper settings and although I followed the directions in the manual and also on the HP site for trouble shooting it is still not working. I spoke to HP customer service and after being on hold for 45 minutes I was told that since the printer is over a year old and no longer under warranty they cannot help me. I was not asking them to give me a new printer I just needed help in resetting the language and they would not help. I was told to just go buy a new printer. You can be sure that if and when I do replace my printer, computer or laptop it will not be with an HP product.

One of the worst companies in printers. Never ever recommend HP printers, They expire after one year when warranty expires.

I called customer services of HP and he stated warranty is expired. I paid nearly £300 pounds for the printer and it is not switching on. HP saying i should go to local shop and fix it.

HP Printer support
August 1, 2019

I am tech savvy and aware of scams. HP has a scammer attached to their support address. I could not contact a person with the company to make them aware of this scam. When I logged on to the website it immediately pulled up a chat and they went through the process of connecting my printer but said I had fraudulent activity on my network. I was charged $100 to correct it. I realize it was my mistake but reporting it to HP should be an easy process and the only way I was able to speak with anyone was by calling the number to buy something. Then I was told that I would have to purchase their malware to make sure my computer was not compromised. I was blown away by the lack of concern and the inability to report the activity and then the final straw was to purchase a package from them to protect my computer. Compared to other companies they are a disgrace!

OK, well I wouldn't exactly buy a computer from a company that once hired Carly Fiorina but when it comes to "inking a deal" I find their toner cartridges to be A++++++++++.
I've been buying HP print cartridges, toner, printers and even paper for 25 years and I have NEVER been disappointed.
With coupons/promotions and customer service I always get a fair price for a product that manages to"Outwit, Outlast and Outplay" the competition. HP is a SURVIVOR for a good reason. When I buy the toner cartridges that claim 1500 pages, I get 2,000. I have 15 year old printers that still work like new. The only reason I've purchased additional printers is that they are cheap and faster than the old ones.
I heartily suggest you get with the HP printer/ink/toner program and just so you know I don't work for them maybe you need to buy your darn computer elsewhere!.

HP is a scam. Stay away!

Part 3 of 3

I got my "new" printer. On unpackaging the printer, the lid had five damaged spots. I took pictures and sent them to the HP representative.

- I told him that I believe this printer is refurbished because of its physical appearance;

- I told him that even if I had agreed to a refurbished printer, HP wouldn't send it in a plain brown box with "refurbished" written on it, nor would they send it in an HP box with "refurbished" written on it;

- I told him that if they'll do it with printers, then they'll do it with computers too;

- I told him that the original 'new' one I bought (the broken one that was being replaced) was probably refurbished too, because why else would it break down in 6 months with occasional use.

It took him 3 days to respond to me - I assume after speaking to his higher-ups - because he offered me a refund, which I am certainly taking.

I asked him if they will reimburse me for all the ink for it that I purchased. They oh-so-kindly said I can keep the ink that *I* bought, that I already told them will be of no use to me because I will never buy another HP product again.

They told me the only way I would receive the "new" replacement printer is if I signed a Release to keep the matter confidential - which, in my view, confirms that they sell used as new. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to sue them for this fraud. And as you can see by the "new" replacement printer, it is indeed used.

It really doesn't get any worse than this.

You have been warned!

Stains on my "new" printer right out of the box.

A case manager got back to me. He phoned me from a 1-800 number which I don't pick up because of spam. He chose not to leave a message on my voicemail but hung up without a word, and then sends me an email that he's unable to contact me. By reply email, I let him have it, and told him I want our conversation in writing.

The sleaze says he's pleased to honour my request and will send me a refurbished printer. I told him that his conclusion that I wanted a refurbished printer is incredible since the reason we're speaking is because I *don't* want one. Duh. I let them have it about how sleazy and cheap they were. He ignored it.

He told me that a refurbished printer is not rejected, but is just overstock or an open box. I let him have it.

He called me a valued customer. I let him have it.

He told me in one email that he would send me a new printer, and sent a separate email 'Agreement' for my confirmation that didn't say "new." I let him have it and told him that I know he's trying to send me a refurbished printer under the guise of "new." He ignored it. I completed the Agreement with an Appendix of his separate email saying that the replacement printer would be new.

He didn't like this and again asked me to confirm the Agreement. So I did, and added in my own stuff in the appropriate spaces, and copied and pasted his email that said "new" in the appropriate space.

He asked me if I wanted the prepaid label mailed or emailed. I told him since I don't have a working printer, I obviously have to have the hard copy. Duh again.

I strongly suspect that they're still sending me a refurbished printer. Whether they do or whether they don't, this experience was awful. HP is a cheap, sleazy, insult-to-injury, insult-to-intelligence, rip-off business, and their warranties mean you'll get repaired broken stuff as replacements despite that you paid money for new stuff. I won't ever buy from them again.

Take heed. You've been warned.

Possibly to be continued when I receive the "new" printer.

I bought an HP ENVY 5055 printer 6 months ago. It worked great for 6 months. At 6 months, in one shot, it would not print properly. I contacted HP chat. We spent about an hour on the phone going through all the steps to see if the printer needed to be replaced. One of the steps was to change the ink cartridges. He offered to send me ink cartridges, but it didn't make sense to me to wait for the cartridges, contact HP chat again, and go through the whole thing again. I told him I had new unopened ones here. So I opened them and we did more tests with those. The problems remained and even increased. He concluded that printer needs to be replaced. (No kidding.).
The guy told me that the remaining 6 months warranty would be applied to the replacement printer. I think that sucks.
Then he told me that the replacement printer would be refurbished. What?! I told him that I paid good money for a new printer, and I expect a new replacement. He said he's not authorized to do that, and will escalate this matter to a case manager. So now I'm waiting, and I will update this review when this matter is resolved.
He asked me if there's anything more he could do for me. I asked him if he could please send me the ink cartridges because I wasted a lot of ink with both my old cartridges and my new cartridges. He double-talked his way out of that one, I have no idea what the heck he said, but it was clear that he wasn't willing to send them now.
I am SO disappointed in HP. I realize that most companies will just 'forward' the remaining warranty to a replacement product (which I still say sucks), but to have a new item replaced with something refurbished? I didn't pay a refurbished price, I paid a new price.
To be continued.

HP cartridge support is the worst possible
March 8, 2017
Previous review

I purchased two 61XL black print cartridges in the two pack for my 4630 HP printer. The printer works flawlessly. The warranty end date on these is Aug 2017. They both failed in a very short time. They both died up! I tried returning to the seller, but I was referred to HP customer service. Well what an ordeal trying to get replacements I had already bought new ones which are just fine. Then to add insult to injury this agent tells me my printer is at fault, but she will provide an upgraded model--------- AT A REDUCED PRICE. The traners of these agents should give a them a warning. MOST HP CUSTMERS ARE NOT IDIOTS!

The experience I have had with HP Customer Service and Support has been the worst I have ever had with a company. It's been 3 months of trying to get a new battery (under warranty) and my laptop is not due for repair for an entire month. I'd love to know who can be expected to be away from their computer for a month. Multiple calls, hours of my time and the expected return is still a month from when HP received my unit. It is absurd that a company can run this way. I suggest to everyone considering buying ANY HP product to refrain unless you want to spend many hours with Customer Service and Support if anything goes wrong.

@HPIndia Never buy HP products, I bought 15CS1002tx worth RS. ******* and it was a defected product, HP replaced it after 2 mnths & gave another defected product & now they again agreed that product is defected and asking me to replace with another hp laptop, see u in Consumer court. I sent an mail to *******@SumeerChandra stating the details of my case but looks like HP mgmt team don't have the decency to reply back to customers. They just want to sell defected products like 3 defected laptops in my case, torture customers for months & say do what ever u want.

I had the extreme displeasure of working in a business deal with one of their director level VP's. He was one of the most self-centered, arrogant people I've had to work with in a long time. He was consistently late on his responsibilities (because he always "had meetings to fly to and attend") and then at the end turned around and blamed the project being late on everyone else.

I ordered a laptop on HP's website and cancelled the order about an hour later because I changed my mind and because I knew Black Friday was coming up and this was on the 28th of October, they said they would cancel it and never did, they still delivered the laptop on the Tuesday of that week. Then on the same day I filed a return, they said that they would collect it but on the day that we arranged, I stayed home all day and took a day off my school work to listen and wait for someone to pick it up but no one turned up. I complained again and they said I should drop it off, the packaged was received on Tuesday 13th of November, they have yet to process it, black friday is next week and because I paid on Paypal they said that it will take 8 days after they process it. I am absolutely raging because I cancelled it and now I can't buy the laptop that I wanted a month after I have cancelled the expensive item.

Never. AGAIN.

Never ever buy HP
September 27, 2018

They Will not honour a straightforward warranty repair... screen just stopped working... somehow a screen that was undamaged before sending away after going blank, now has damage in the top right hand corner whch invalidate a the warranty...

They pass you from pillar to post and none will take responsibility. Customer service key role is to fob you off it seems till you just go away.

Do not know what happened to the company I used to know, but they are now a company which does NOT give a damn.

Do not buy HP laptop
September 25, 2018

Bought a laptop August 2nd 2018 and did not open it for two weeks after because I moved away for school and didnt need to use it. AS SOON as I started to use it problems started coming arise with the speakers with freezing etc. I contacted customer support and after long talk and various ways of trying to fix it, HP customer tech decided it was best for me to send in my laptop (past my 15 day return period so I could not return it). I made it very clear that I could not be without the laptop for more than a week due to being in school. He assured me that was NO ISSUE. That was septemer 17. It has been a week without my laptop and was supposed to expect it back september 26. Then I got a text saying HP product was delayed to october 2 and to call "" number if that was an issue. So I called the number and the customer service tech assured me that was wrong and that my laptop will be expected back september 26. Now it is September 24 and I got another text message saying my laptop is delayed to october 05 and to call if that was an issue. So I called and the customer tech said there was nothing she could do because i cold not talk to a supervisor because they were "closing soon" with 20 minutes until closing. She suggested I call back tomorrow. They didnt help me because it is 20 minutes until closing time. I WISH I was able to say that where I worked! Now, I am expecting a call tomorrow to see what is going on with my laptop. DO NOT BUY FROM HP. I had a toshiba laptop previously for four years and no issues (passed it down to sibling), got this one and had issues the first week using it.

My teenage daughter purchased a laptop directly from HP as they offer a student discount, we live in Melbourne Australia. After paying $1000 after the discount she was delivered a laptop that does not work. After speaking to their tech department twice without resolution I had to step in. They refused to replace the laptop and organised for a courier to pick it up to be serviced. Only when the labels arrived did we find that it was being taken to Singapore, nowhere in Australia. Who knows how long it will be till it's returned and she needs it for uni.
It took long phone calls and threats just to get any sort of service or assistance form this company which I think may be located in India. Don't rely on just their name and assume you are safe in buying something from them as they are such a big company. I have never been so angry trying to deal with a company before.
Students beware, I know they are advertising with unidays and some other big names. If something is wrong help it is very difficult. Go to a store and consider a different brand.

Absolutely absurd
August 30, 2018

Beyond ridiculous. These people make no sense what-so-ever. Laptop screen separated within less than a year. They are saying it's accidental and not covered by warranty. Are you kidding me? What accident separated a screen from the back? I accidentally pulled the screen and back apart? Are these people sane? Please beware in purchasing anything from this company. I did it anyway after I heard really bad things about them. Well here I am. I see it first hand why this company is hated so much.

Editing to reflect my experience with corporate... After my ordeal with the service side of the company, I posted on BBB and sent an email to their corporate office. I have to say, their customer service on THAT side has been surprisingly good. The corporate office called me right after I sent an email, within a day. They assigned a manager to me that went thru my grievances about the whole situation with me throughout this process. They followed up with me continuously. Unfortunately, even they could not magically get my laptop fixed quickly and returned but what they did do is that they approved the repair without any charge. But, even with their help, the laptop repair process got delayed over and over and over again. Now, it's been just under 2 months without a laptop. I now have accepted a replacement credit from their HP website instead of waiting for repaired laptop. Which no one knows when that will be.

The laptop I purchased was a faulty product. The laptop itself ran fine, but to have a screen separate from its backing within less than a year is ridiculous. I had a Toshiba laptop, plastic one that after 6 years, there isn't a scratch on it let alone screen separation. Not even a crack. Had to replace for performance reasons. And the HP Envy I purchased seemed more solid with metal frame and heavier, just overall nicer and fancier. Yet it deteriorated within less than a year.

Product rating F. Corporate handling of the situation A+.

Just spent the last 4 hrs with multiple techs from the Phillippines getting nothing accomplished! Was Switched around to different reps (one who had his phone on mute). Hard to understand reps and for them to understand me. Massive confusion. Reps are taking multiple calls at once so can't remember your info when they get back to you for the 5th time. When I told the rep I had given him the same info 4 times before he told me he was having a busy day and had a lot of calls he was handling at the same time! When he did speak to me all I could hear was the massive confusion of other reps talking in the background! Bizarre and unacceptable! When I finally spent the last half hour troubleshooting a million ways to make a black screen come to life and failed, he told me he'd call me back in a couple hours because he had other things to take care of! WHAT DID HE JUST TELL ME? That was at 9:30 pm! What kind of business is HP running? MY NEXT COMPUTER WILL NOT BE AN HP! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
