I attempted to rent a car through Hotwire. Every time I would click on a car rental, it would tell me it was a different price, which was a higher price. I called Hotwire and the only thing they have now is text messaging, therefore, someone was messaging me. The person said they would do the rental on their end and get the price that is advertised, after an hour the person came back to tell me that it didn't process and because they don't have the inventory. I asked her if there was anything they could do and she just basically said they don't have the inventory. I spent an hour and a half texting this person and got absolutely nowhere.
I have used Hotwire for decades with little to no issue. Today was a different experience. I Went through the typical routine of selecting a pricepoint and hotel quality. I chose a hotel at the rate of $159.00. When selecting the drop-down box I saw Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn and one other. I had had brief stays in all of these hotels and thought, okay. That will do. After paying my fee the hotel popped up -- America's Best Value Inn East (Knoxville, TN). OMG, Anyhting named America's best has to be suspect. I pulled up exhausted from my travels to a hotel of a very different quality than advertised. The hotel was selling rooms for the night at a rate of $69.00. I called hotwire and they told me there is a rule that a customer cannot change "Hotdeals." I told them there has been some mistake. I didn't get a "hotdeal" I got charged over double the standard rate. "I'm sorry mam... " The same story from the supervisor. "I'm sorry mam..."
Very disappointed in this reservation. I'm tired and have already spent too much time on this issue. Hotwire -- you can do better than this. I tried to add a photo of my booking (IT# *******597 Booking for March 24-25,2023) but the app didn't let me.: (
This company take money from the people a never return anything our flight was late arrive the office for rental was closed we try to call never answer to the call and never return your money is my second time i have problem with this company.
Never buy somthing to this company
I have been a loyal hotwire customer for many, many years and had always been happy with their products and services until very recently. In two cases they have done a bait and switch and booked me into a hotel that is not on the list of possible hotels and also not of the same quality as the listed hotels. I made a reservation from a list including the Hilton Garden Inn which is in the class we were looking for. When I made the reservation I was assigned a Hilton Homewood Suites room, which is not near as nice as the Garden Inn.
Lost 530$ towards Hotwire as neither the service not provided nor the money was refunded all this happened in 10 minutes
Don't use this company to rent a car. It's a scam. We missed a flight because of winter storm. So got there two days ago and they didn't provide us a car and didn't return our money.
We booked our flights with them. And our seats were not booked properly by them as told. Also told entire flight all one price. Now paying extra because they didn't do their job. And may not even have a seat when we get to airport. We will not book with them ever again
I booked a Hotwire Hotdeal for San Jose Costa Rica. There was a hotel I liked that was in the area on the map along with star rating. I ended up with the Crowne Plaza which was not the hotel I wanted. It was difficult to get to. It's an old atrium design so it's noisy. A breakfast was supposed to be included. Because I got the Hotdeal, Crowne Plaza took my breakfast away. There is nothing around the Crowne Plaza so you have to eat there. The breakfast buffet was mediocre for $22. If you are traveling with a family that's an additional $90. Hotwire takes away amenities which erases the discount. I could have directly booked the hotel I wanted for the same price with an excellent breakfast buffet included. I complained and Hotwire said that free breakfast was not listed. If I book a Hotel with anyone, I expect all the Hotel amenities. Stay away from Hotwire. I used them a lot in the past. No more.
Book directly with the hotel it's LOTS cheaper. I paid 227 dollors canadian. The hotel was charging 130.Canadian. They don't care. If you'd like to pay more book through them. I'm upset with myself don't you be too. Stay.far far away. There is no customer service.
Never use this company
They take your money
They don't give you the itinerary but charge you for reservation. The customer service reps are helpful but the supervisor are there to not help.
Stay away from this company
I'm a person who constantly fly and book hotels. So I understand how things work. What I don't understand is when is it ok to not give people there itinerary and charge them for the booking.
Be careful with this company. You might get screwed
Please avoid NU car rentals, you will be very disappointed.I would give them 0 stars, if I could. I came in contact with this car rental agency thru Hotwire; which I vow to never use again. These online sites should actually investigate the suppliers there using. I paid for a car thru Hotwire, and got NU car rentals. I wasn't aware I would get them, until I paid for the car,(no refunds). I get to N U to pick up my car and I have Statefarm insurance, full coverage. They told me their limited liability insurance was 500,000, so I had to purchase their insurance, for an additional 30 something dollars a day, plus taxes. I was renting a small car, not pulling cargo. This company is a scam, please stay away from them and beware of Hotwire. I should have just went thru a reputable rental agency ( enterprise, budget, etc. I left along with another couple. We both lost our money and had to go thru another agency. Aw, before they told me coverage wasn't good enough, I had 100,000/300,000 coverage through State Farm, they told me I had to email them my declaration page of my insurance. When they took us back to the airport, we were talking to someone else that said they had problems with NU in Orlando, Florida. Scam,ScamScam! Beware of Hotwire too!
I booked with Hotwire and my flight was canceled. I purchased a package deal for flight, hotel, and car. A total of 13 hours on the phone and I had to give them the correct 800 number to the hotel. I purchased trip insurance and they couldn't give a a number to call or answer any questions for me. She told me the insurance is only on the flight not for room or car rental. Why do they say protect your trip with insurance and it not cover everything you book with them. Insane never again would I book with Hotwire.
First time I used this site and was scammed out of $1,105.80. I made a reservation for two round trip tickets and was charged for a duplicate set of the same tickets. There was apparently technical issues with the website, which resulting in my having two different itineraries for the same two people traveling the same day and time. We can only be issued two seat, but we are charged for four. We reached out to Hotwire three times and were informed each time that there was nothing they could do because the money is non-refundable. They asked us to file for a refund with American Airlines, Who referred us back to Hotwire because the tickets were purchased through them and because the problem originated with them. They unapologetically insisted on keeping $1,105.90, the price of the duplicate tickets. We are pursuing legal avenues because there is no way to justify keeping the money if we cannot secure valid tickets for the charge. We are being Scammed $2,221.60 for four sets of round trip tickets, of which we can only travel on and Hotwire wants to keep our money. Please aware of this method of a scam. Know that if their website experience technical issues, you may be charge several times and you may not recover your money. I regret doing business here and will never again. Unprofessional, insincere, dishonest. They do not care about you the customer. Be selective when choosing a travel agency,
I purchased a midsize SUV from Hotwire website using their Hot Rate Car pricing on 12/6 and I was provided with itenary number *******069 and confirmation was booked with Hertz. Hertz lists the car as small size SUV. When I call Hotwire, they say the sales are final, but I am going to get only a small size SUV because it can be considered Midsize, eventhough Hertz has Small, MidSize and Large SUV category. They short change the customer with their pricing by booking a small SUV. If I really wanted a small SUV I could have purchased a smaller car for much lower price. Scam company at best!
On their website when you search for a certain date, they add additional dates without making it clear that you're booking a date other than what you searched for, no refunds or cancellations.
I booked my airline ticket through Hotwire, baggage was supposed to be included both ways. Good on the way there, on the way back airline charges me 115$. I open my reservation letter, it says 80$. So it went from free to 80$ to 115$. Cant prove anything, airline is blaming Hotwire and Hotwire is blaming airline. Take a screenshot when you buying a ticket.
I requested a rental car at the Oakland airport last October. I went through the search engine has my flight was leaving Long Beach California. And was scheduled for land in Oakland at 10 AM. The site gave me the hot deal as my first option. It was less than all the rest of the option $350. So, I booked it. After making the payment and reservation I get the email confirmation stating my pickup point was San Francisco international Airport not Oakland airport. I saw them immediately and was told they could not give me a refund would have to Cancel the request and repay for a new request on a credit card. I explained to them that I had a $500 limit, and I didn't have enough money on the credit card the to pay another request and it would take7 to 10 days to get a refund. They tell me they don't refund on hot deals. So, I didn't have a rental car for my visit trip, and I filed a complaint with the better business bureau and again I was denied a refund and was told I could sue them if I wanted my money back. I asked them what happened to the money for the rental? They wouldn't tell me. The company representative also told me the first time I called the search engine is program to find the nearest locations first. But I specifically asked for the Oakland airport? I can't pick up a rental 50 miles at another airport. Who does that? Unfortunately, since this incident I've had a stroke and recovery at Rehab facility. I should be home within the next 60 days and I'm going to take these people to small claims court. Very shady stay away!
SAVE your money, DO NOT be fooled by their "best prices". They will steal your money, double charge your card, and WILL NOT give you an answer on the phone. They're the only representatives in my experience that told me we cannot help you and HUNG up the phone. They will document lies and when asked for the documentation they will not send you it. Disrespectful, useless, and rude. Believe me, the "saving" is not worth it because then you have to spend days to prove to your bank account that they stole your money or just forget it since it causes a so much stress. I hope every person gets the chance to read this message before they try to book with Hotwire.
Got massively overcharged on our booking when we booked a hotel in Ontario. The site and the receipt listed prices in canadian dollars, but charged us in US dollars.
Answer: In my case it was only when I convinced a Hotwire customer service representative that I needed to speak to her supervisor that I got any "service."
Answer: Phone the hotel to confirm your booking at the rate you paid. Make sure you get the name of the person you talk to and maybe have him send you an E Mail confirmation.
Answer: They can't. For me it's $1400 (more characters to post answer)
Answer: Pay for it then you'll know. Don't book through these people. Read the reviews. I'm still upset with myself for paying lots more than I could have gotten it directly from the Hotel itself. There is no customer service.
Answer: No. I didn't see Richards Hotel on the list. Having said that I've never been to Richard's Hotel it could be great. They just don't show it as one of them. Be kind to yourself read the reviews and stay away
Answer: Never share your credit card info... they double bill you
