This site does not keep track of bookings and your private information. Bookings do not go through and then they can't find you in the system even though your card has been charged. Definitely a loser site!
I work at a hotel and I beg everyone to not use this company. Their reservations are never sent to the hotel and we have no information to be able to even make the reservation! Since you pay them and they pay us they provide us with a credit card, but since they never send us the booking details we don't have that. And when we are sold out and they don't send in the reservation information a room is not held for you when you arrive! DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THEM! It's not the hotel's fault when we don't have your reservation. Just call the hotel directly, it's not worth the stress to try to get your money back because of their inability to properly book a reservation.
DO NOT use Hotels Tonight. I recently booked a room in the Los Angeles Area while I was driving there with my family and was turned away by the hotel when I arrived at midnight. Awesome! Being forced to scramble to find another hotel room in the middle of the night in Los Angeles you can imagine how frustrated I was. However, that was only the beginning. Today is 14 days later and I still have not received a reversal to the charge on my credit card although I have made numerous phone calls to Hotel Tonight and they have promised me a refund. No apology... no refund!
DO NOT use this company! Horrible! RUN AWAY!
I booked a room at a good price in Holland, Michigan. When I arrived (with my 90 year old mother) there was no record of the booking. The very nice desk clerk at this Microtel ended up calling HotelTonight. She finally got them to send her a fax to confirm the booking and payment. She ended up calling them back three more times because the credit card numbers they gave her wouldn't work. She said she was also hung up on twice. The Microtel was great! They put us in a room while they worked out the problems with HotelTonight. If they hadn't done this, we would have been standing at the front desk for over an hour!
Holland, Michigan Microtel is great.
HotelTonight will never be used by me again.
Too bad there's not a lower rating. If you must use this app, try searching for the same property on the other services. You'll get a better deal through Expedia, for instance, and you'll get a better deal if you call the hotel directly. And God forbid that you have an issue with using the app, because there's no such thing as customer service. Some locations are misrepresented as to location. We booked a hotel in "Flagstaff" that turned out to be in Williams AZ. 39 miles west on I40 and the wrong direction. Do you think these people would give us our money back? Of course not. Instead, they closed my account and now won't talk to me about two prior completed reservations, for which I never received billing receipts, and they are unable to talk to me about the lodgings reserved and paid for. Just say NO to this lousy app. THere's a reason it's so badly rated on here.
They did give me a refund a week or more later and a $20 coupon for the next time I use them. Skeptical. Don't think I can endure that kind of (phone) customer service. FYI, email them for a professional response if you need to contact them.
MINUS 5 STARS... I just spent the better part of my day (over 3 hours) trying to get a refund on a room that my client cannot use due to car troubles. Four phone calls, won't let me talk to a supervisor, then they called MY CLIENT because I put the room in his name. Still waiting on a call back. I've NEVER been so disappointed in an app and customer service. Some were nice and I felt sorry for them for having to work there, one was VERY rude. I don't think I've ever written a review that wasn't "raving" about something, somewhere, etc. I am a very positive person but this was the WORSE experience with a company EVER. Use Kayak or another online search for a discounted hotel or call the hotel direct. HotelTonight is missing out on a previous good customer until today! They lost a lot of business as I book hotels all the time.
Flew in from another state and when we get to the hotel our room was never booked and no rooms available! No hotels around had rooms available either! Absolutely horrible they failed to provide the one service they're supposed to! HORRIBLE!
It was very clear that my wife and I had booked the same hotel on the same night. When my wife called she was led to believe it could be rectified if I would call, when I called I was told no problem, they just need to speak to my wife.
We got together and called, we were then told they "couldn't do anything for us. It was very clear they had no intention of helping us but they were hoping we would just let it go.
We received a ton of "very sorry" but no one would help.
Terrible customer service!
Terrible experience with customer "no service" agent. Hotel Tonight wants your money and customer satisfaction does not concern them. The booking website is a trap... easy to make a mistake, and if you do, no way to correct. I won't use this company again.
We booked a same day stay in Ft Walton Beach at what appeared to be a beautiful property. Arrived to find out HT had booked us a smoking room. Could hardly breathe. Had to book a different hotel at twice the cost. No refund from HT for the first room. Spent an hour on the phone with "customer service," but no help at all. Will never use this site again.
They will speak to you like you don't understand your own problem, and say they can't help you out. Everything else is good. Just don't mess up booking and expect to get a correct receipt.
Paid for a room in Mexico for my 3 kids and husband and when we arrived from a 13 hour flight, the hotel didn't have our reservation and we had to leave. Hotel tonight took our money and also couldn't confirm our reservation. KARMA WILL GET YOU HOTEL TONIGHT
RIP OFF! They booked me a room in Houston, charged my credit card, when I arrived at the hotel, they were sold out and never even heard of me. They say I have to wait 7 days for a refund for services not rendered. They would not give out upper management names due to security reasons. However, it was ok for them to have my full name, phone number, email address, and most of all... my credit card information. The Hilton hotel representatives told me that this is common practice with Hotel Tonight and that I am not alone. Once again, call the hotel directly and run like hell before you get stranded with no place to go.
I booked a room on same day using the HT app feature of book tonight, but when I arrived the hotel couldn't find my reservation and stated the room was reserved for tomorrow. I ended up having to book a room through the hotel directly and HT refused to refund or give a credit for the app error of selecting the wrong day. I flew out the next day and ended up paying for a room I couldn't stay in. I called customer service and asked to speak with a manager and was left on hold for 47 mins. I NEVER write reviews, but this by far my worst customer service experience.
Getting a response from the company can be difficult at times, but if you're patient and are willing to compromise on locations and/or amenities, I've gotten some crazy deal via this site for rooms in Boston/LA/NY.
HT has gone DOWNHILL. They used to be awesome and helpful but all that has changed. They cancelled my account when I was trying to get them to clear up some confusion (on their end) about which email address I used. It was totally out of the blue and the agentwho was actually friendly and fairly helpful at firstcame back to the phone (after long wait times) to inform me that her supervisor is having her cancel my account WITH NO EXPLANATION WHY! She wouldn't let me speak with her supervisor and gave me a mailing address to inquire the reason for their decision. I'm like, "decision"? Their decision to cancel a legitimate, avid user of their services who has never given them anything but my money and positive reviews? I knew right there that they've got some clown in there running the show, making irrational decisions and will be running that company into the ground very soon. HT is a runaway train and from the sound of it, with SO many bad reviews and with the bad reputation they've developed that train will be hitting that wall... the end of the line sooner rather than later. It's a shame. However, from the sound of it they did me a favor. I never got taken with misrepresented fares, to my knowledge, but I have friends who did. It was only a matter of time.
Hotels tonight does not mention that you will be charged more fees when you check in. Booked a hotel with DROP DEAL and paid $155 for the night and $44 tax and fees. When I got to the hotel and checked in, I was notified about the security deposit which is fine and normal. But, then I had to pay an extra $37 for the resort fees. The hotel ended up costing me $236 through Hotels Tonight. If I had booked it through the hotel directly, it would have cost me $179.99 plus tax & Resort fee which came out to be $209.86. HOTEL TONIGHT IS A RIP OFF and the DROP DEAL should be DROPPED!
The fact that I was charged at the hotel - a significantly cheaper rate! - in addition to having already paid through HotelTonight was minor in comparison to the horrible customer service I received after the fact. While HotelTonight did get the charge refunded from the hotel, they would not refund the difference on their end and instead gave me a credit toward future use of their surface. But I will never use them again. The customer service people who were emailing me were argumentative and unable to acknowledge that I had any valid concerns. They kept defending their service and claiming they had done nothing wrong. Poor customer service will drive me away every time, and between that and my being double charged, I would never risk using them again.
Booked through Hotel Tonight a few times. Great prices, but don't believe anything they say -- only book a hotel you actually know. If you can do that, you'll likely be okay. Booked a hotel I didn't know (but a reputable chain, supposedly.) Nothing about hotel was as Hotel Tonight billed it -- further away from airport than promised; old, dirty and run down (rather than "contemporary" and "updated"). And Hotel Tonight offers no customer service, so you're on your own.
Answer: Hotel Tonight will find a way to rip you off, you can count on that.
Answer: Total scam. False advertising. Room and hotel nothing as it was posted.
