The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

HomeAdvisor recommended All Odds and Ends tree removal services and I was very pleased with the results.
We returned home late in the day from vacation to a partial power outage Christmas Eve. After trying a couple electricians, I used HomeAdvisor and one of the three electricians, Millenium Electric, called me almost immediately, late in the day and said they would be at my house in an hour.
They determined partial home outage was a power company issue and did NOT charge me for the appointment! We are very grateful, it would have been very difficult to find someone Christmas eve to help us out.
Available contractors were submitted, contracts made and repairs were done well and reasonably priced.
I can't say this is a scam but it is very misleading. When I went online to ask for cabinet repair services in my area, HomeAdvisor (powered by Angi) popped up. I was able to schedule a date and time for the repair and even provided detailed information after the confirmation. A couple days later, I received not just one but two emails stating that they were unable to find professionals in my area to do the job. At that point I deleted the original appointment from my books and decided to move on (do the work ourselves). Lo and behold, someone showed up at the original date and time to do the work. Of course, I was not expecting anyone. I told him of my emails and he said this is what happens to him a lot of time. He was a third party, meaning HomeAdvisor puts the bid up to other companies to fulfill the job (this time it was HandyPros that accepted the job) and they in turn fulfill it using individuals that accept the job. I feel this is very misleading because they are not actually using professionals to do the job that the customer is requesting. We sent our very nice man on his merry way since we already had decided to move forward. I called the customer care number and they explained I had 2 choices...#1, they would reschedule the job or #2, I would be charged 50% of the original bid. Supposedly, the emails that I received after the confirmation were not from them but actually from companies that couldn't fulfill the job. Now why would I think that when it was specifically for the job I requested? In the end, I paid the 50% of the original bid without receiving the service from HomeAdvisor. I will never use them again and will certainly let others know of the MISLEADING communication.
I lost hot water during a shower and when breaker box opened blue sparks flying everywhere. I did nothing that night but next day typed in my issue and Home Advisor popped up so typed in what I was looking for and bam found the best electrician I feel I could have found on short notice. I received a call within 5 minutes, scheduled the service same day and I promise you, I have hot water and I am good. The repair person was on time, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient.
Angi has helped me find the proper contractors to do 2 different jobs in a timely manner. One in an emergency situation. Very helpful.
Notified service provider explained my needs, had all right epuipment todo job safely prompt service time from start to finish
I hired a plumber recommended by HomeAdviser. I could not pay him with a credit card without downloading an app from Angi. I DO NOT want her app on my phone/computer.
I was forced into writing a check, which is not what I had planned for. From now on I will be using Yelp to find a contractor. This review in no way is indicative of my experience with the plumber. He did a very good job.
Inquired for a plumber, the service provided 2 services. Both called within the day to arrange service
I put in my project requirements and got texted and emailed from professionals
Excellent service
Received my information to get the job done, the men working were profesional and friendly
Professional work and concerns for customer satisfaction when job was finished.
Needing to find a company to professionally remove mold from my home for selling a house, I didn't know where to start. You can google anything and see paid reviews of the company and have a completely opposite experience. HomeAdvisor linked me with top notch specialists for exactly what I needed. I think for future large home projects, if I need a specialist for the job, I'm using HomeAdvisor!
We are very pleased. Shai is exceptional! His rating on HomeAdvisor was accurate.
Very fast response from Vendor. All of their recommendations were very highly rated. Will be using HomeAdvisor again.
Very easy and straightforward. Just wish the Angi app didn't hijack the link when I clicked on it & dump me on the home page unable to submit a review.
You contacted me right away, and referred a company the same day. Within 24 hours, the junk was gone from my property. I am very pleased.
I signed up with Angi (formerly HomeAdvisor) to help grow my construction company business. I received a sales email from Robert whom I assumed found us online by doing what they do to try to sell their product. For several weeks Robert contacted me to try to get to sign up for Angi's List. After a few weeks I contemplated over things and decided to give it a try. So I paid the $289 membership fee and signed up for services. Initially we did not receive any leads. Then all of a sudden we received lead notifications. Angi's List does so much to scam and con professionals. They word leads to be something like "A customer wants to discuss their project with you" or "You're matched with a customer" etc... So it leads you to believe that a particular customer specifically wants to use your company for a project. But in reality Angi's List sends that same email to all professionals in the area to contact the customer so they can charge the fee for the lead. So Angi's List can make over $1,000 per lead from charging a professional to contact a customer. Then they have the variations of leads which means a professional can be charged for a lead whether they want it or not. It's so many different ways they scam professionals, it's ridiculous.
App had major issue locating " My Projects " files. Failed to find everytime.
I got calls right away. Got an estimate within the day. Got the work done. Worked the Monday after Christmas.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
