The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Even if you set your budget at a certain target and they hit it, you can expect to get more, I was hit with 100+ over the amount of the lead. They straight up told me the opportunity leads that I can accept will be bigger fee leads because I'm pausing and limiting my other budget. Once I put my budget lower the leads for really small projects that used to be like 15 bucks ended up being around 40-60. They are scamming you if they don't get what they thought they could before.
This company is a scam. Do not give them your bank card, they give fake leads and
Fake jobs, charging you for every fake number they give you! T
Last July, I joined as a company to home advisor, with the promise of part of them to send me effective clients: which was a lie, they sent me some contacts, which I called and they never answered, everything was a lie. Finally one of their clients answered me, and it was a scam where $ 2,200 was stolen and that I have now in the police. And now they want to charge me $ 3,300 just because they sent me some false contacts. It is a robbery do not let yourself be stabbed by these people
I was somewhat suspect of my ability to not accept leads that weren't a good fit for my business and was told I didn't have to accept them. Not the case... you get charged for every lead and, even if it isn't something you aren't interested in, you can't get credit for the lead. Worse still, if you get a useless lead (no response, or not ready, willing or able to move forward) you can request a credit, but more times than not, it'll be rejected. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told it would be 5 - 7 days... still no one called. You can use their system to turn off leads and there is also a way to request that someone contact you - no one ever did.
So, though a potentially decent way for service providers to get leads, not (in any way) a decent use of time or money for a home builder. Sifting through useless leads would be ok if you actually got credit, but I've spent thousands and no real prospects to speak of and, after a year, I believe that is sufficient time for something realistic to mature.
One phone call that's all it took for Jeremy, owner of Brightside Restoration to fix my problem. Honest, fair and just an all around nice young man. You couldn't find a more honest and fair person to HELP solve your problems. I have to give this company a 5 start rating. Great company to do business with...
Spend soooooo much money paying for fake leads and leads that didn't have full address to go give an estimate and wrong numbers. Out of 10 maybe got 1 credited..
Just look at every other view on here and theres your answer. Steal right from your banking account. Please save your money for a credible company with leads.
This is the biggest rip off I have ever experienced. Just a bunch of scam artist, do not give them your bank card, they give fake leads and fake jobs, charging you for every fake number they give you! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!
I have hired three of the four companies supplied to me by HA. I got a call from HA about one of my three reviews. He said he had to read my review to me, ask some questions, then my review would be verified and put into my account for rewards credit. I asked why no one has called about the other two and he replied that it was an error on their part and offered to verify all three reviews. It was very time consuming but I completed all three reviews. Many months later I called about my rewards credit, they said to call Rewards Cust Service. I did and they told me to everything was approved and to look at my account in a few days to add my address. I never did for several weeks and when I did-only one of my three reviews was listed. I called and left a message with Rewards Customer Service. When the Rewards Customer Service rep called me she (ALEX) told me she was "making an exception and would pay the $50 but she had to explain why". After spending several minutes listening to her drone on and on she basically told me the companies I hired were not "Rewards Approved". LOL I told her I had hired them all from the match they sent and had called Rewards Customer Service and was told they were all approved. She did the worse thing anyone in Customer Service can do. She blamed me and told me I did NOT call Rewards Customer Service. I told her she was wasting my time, what she told me made no sense and that I would never use HA again. I have yet to receive my reward money. Then I found out they are involved in a class action lawsuit by the companies they charge to include in a three to four company group referral. I would NEVER pay for those referral odds.
Went to the Home Advisor website to get an idea about how much a roof replacement would cost. Was VERY clear about not wanting any contact from contractors at this time. Within ten minutes of leaving their website I had two phone calls and one email! That's three businesses that have my name, address, phone number and email address - exactly what I was trying to avoid. I won't make that mistake again.
Now its going to cost me more to fix. HA was worthless over the phone. I will never use HA again. I wish I never found your website.
Lied to from day one about how the leads system work the pricing is so ridiculous, I hate paying for giving estimates, and price shoppers. I was getting force leads before the salesman had a chance to go over the entire site how everything works. I tried cancelling in the 72 hour period but it was over labor day weekend, go figure but business it was business, 72 hours should have been the next business day after a holiday. I canceled less than a 2 weeks of signing up this was a costly mistake no refund, but I'm being charged for leads I didnt want not the customer know anything about. Good job to the salesman John. This is a RIP off, all the call between me and home advisors has been recorded, my next call will be to my attorney.
I used Home advisor to recommend a Land scraper and a pool maintenance company. Both times I was met with people who were unprofessional and provided sloppy work. The pool man did not show up when he said he would and did not return calls. Work was left incomplete and safety was an issue. The pool man even threw cigarette butts on the lawn. Never again! I will never use anyone recommended by Home Advisor.
Home Advisor may be great, but my first and ONLY experience was terrible. They state that they clearly tell us as SOON as you enter information for project, regardless of whether you choose the option that implies you are just researching (and states you don't want to be contacted), you will begin getting phone calls seconds later. EVEN IF YOU ARE DOING RESEARCH IN BED AT 6AM ON A F-ING SATURDAY. NONE of the calls were local despite what they said. I even had one vendor claim to be from a city but unable to even give me a street location. In any case, I think it would of worked out well, but I don't get a model where nobody submits anything. They just call and set up appt for estimates even though you asked not to. SO ANNOYING
The leads are horrible! 1/9 hit rate and an average price of $30! Horrible horrible horrible! Massive scam for your business.
So my fiancé signed up with HomeAdvisorPro... and charged him over $900! They told him every job he accepts he can be charged (up to $18 per job) which he kinda didn't have a problem with. He finds out later that he was also being charged for the jobs he didn't accept! They're not going to reimburse him either... THIS APP IS B***S***! FALSE ADVERTISING! IT'S ALL A SCAM!
On the 'pros' side - I did receive many great leads. I am a small father/son operation. I'm happy to pay for legitimate lead fees. The bogus ones, the 'tire kickers', the no-return-call ones... NO. You get charged for those also. Customer service is HORRIBLE. They company never makes clear of how lead fees are priced. Plus, I noticed a dramatic increase in lead fees the past few months. I was fairly diligent about requesting credit on 'dead leads'. I'm confident to say I was always honest in my requests AND I followed all the criteria established by HA. BEWARE - they will not credit you. They deny credit regardless if you meet their criteria. After a lengthy phone conversation with one rep, it was suggested I call in to request specific credit. I did twice. Both times the rep argued with me, lied to me and refused credit. The final time I cancelled the service. STAY AWAY.
It cost me 350 dollars just to be on the site, another 25 per lead(80%) were fake and you can't argue with them on this or they send you to collections for not paying them. In my 3 months of trying them out I put my leads on hold 3 times just so I wouldn't be charged outrageous fees for nonexistent clients. In my experience they are a shady company with terrible customer service. If I could I would rate them negative stars.
I tried multiple ways to search their site for reviews of remodeling contractors, and simply could not find what I was looking for. It appears that they're not interested in making that an accessible search... their clients ARE the contractors, so they likely don't want end users to see the reviews of those contractors.
After only 1 month of a year membership I called numerous times to cancel. I Never asked for refund just wanted to Be done with this company. Dozens of calls later and continued leads. FInally Had to block all incoming calls for leads that were still coming to me. HA told me my membership was indeed cancelled 5.2018 Today 9. 7. 2018 over 4 months later my companies bank account tapped for some lead I never even knew about and robbed of 110.00. Called customer support numerous times and told I need to speak to a supervisor. They put me on you on hold multiple times for over an hour then hang up. Fake leads, deceptive marketing and thieves. Biggest contractor rip off of the century! Class action Law suit is forthcoming. Criminals!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
