The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

HomeAdvisor recommendation of Leak Greek Roof - ended in a disaster. Leak Geek left my windows, window screen and sidewalk filthy. Leak Geek dump the chemical mixture on my grass and now I have a large dead spot.
I've been with them 3 times. The second ended badly. Naively, I joined a third time and was burned again. I told them I wanted to control my lead generator and I was sent and charged for leads before I had unpaused them. It appears to me that the whole system favors those that need the professional and not the professionals themselves
They attempted to rip me off big time. They sent fake leads. There were numbers where no one answers the phone. They bill for people looking for price check not even serious buyers. They are not up front with billing process. They make it sound like they will help your business grow, but you end up either breaking even or losing money. This is definitely not the company I would recommend to any contractor or business owner. They will rob you and refuse to refund you. I am warning you do not become a victim of this fraudulent company. Also, they have a pending class action lawsuit against them, and it is obvious why.
New Sliding Door.
Sales person did a great job of selling us on the product plus we had seen it on TV. She was supposed to contact us throughout the job and did not. The men who came to measure--measured incorrectly so door had to go back to Minn.
We started in June, 2018 and the job wasn't done until the Fall of 2019!. The crew that first put it did the job incorrectly so we had to wait for second crew to put it in correctly., You can find another company for less money for this job!
I paid in advance for Home Advisor to send a professional painter to paint 3 basement rooms and the hallway walls. Painter permanently damaged the floors with paint and did a terrible paint job. I do not think the man ever painter before. He was a very nice man, that never painted before. He even got paint on my $900 vanity. He had paint all over himself and the bottom of his shoes. Yes, he tracked paint on my finished floors. HE DID NOT CARE. He paint most of vfc 2 rooms and started painting 1 wall of the 3 room. I left him alone to paint because he would stand there and talk and not work at all. He was paid in advance for 7.5 hours.
Review for M. Schultz Construction. This contractor was very thorough, did exactly what we wanted and finished the work exactly as he promised. The repair and painting on the ends of our house and the eves looked very professional when finished. The workers were good about cleaning up any debris that was left from the repair and painting. We plan on having more work done by M. Schultz Construction. Thank you
I searched for one time cleaning in a home I own where the tenants moved out. They popped up a 30% off coupon which was a bit less than the local service I am unfamiliar with. I decided to give homeadvisor a try. They took my money in a hurry. Then I got a bunch of random texts from people asking me if I would hire them to clean my house. Less than 24 hours to go and nobody has contacted me and the reservation does not show on my account. On hold forever right now trying to get it straightened out.
I had partial tuckpointing done on my home last week. The job was done beautifully and in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this company. Very professional.

Hired home advisor to put a swing together for my daughter. First they only sent 1 person for a 2 person job. Then when it came to reschedule we where told that the 1 person hired to do the job was given a window from 9-5 and and no one ever showed up. We will never use this service again
I paid $168 to get a door fixed. Guy came over, looked at door, said he couldn't fix it, left. Home advisor stil charged me $168. They do not answer their phone calls or emails. I have referred this complaint to my credit card company and the fraud office of my AG.
Yes and be power washing fantastic company did a fantastic job on my house his name is Gary Stone his phone number is *******170 I gave him five stars very polite and did an excellent job so hire him
I had a simple electrical job to fix an outside outlet and an outside light plus install outlet for a above oven microwave and they cancelled on me 3 times on the day of the service.
I lost power on the first day so we rescheduled but even that was difficult
They rescheduled me for Mon. And texted me to cancel on that day
They rescheduled me for Wed then they cancelled on me that day
They rescheduled me for Fri. And guess what... they cancelled on me again that morning.
STRIKE 3 THEY ARE OUT
I was excited to find an organization that would help take the pain out of finding contractors. I booked window cleaning and provided a ton of information on storms, number of windows, how many storeys the house is, etc. They charged my card immediately. Apparently booked someone - who never showed up. I spend ages on hold and trying to find the right number to ask why. Got no answer, but they booked someone else. Who showed up 4 hours late and then said she couldn't do the job, and left. At least they refunded me. But they sat on $300+ for 3 weeks without providing a service. Will never use them again.
I am aware that HomeAdvisor attempts to sell services directly to customers / leads and then sells their contact information to multiple competitors - which is completely deceitful. Adding to the swirl of unethical business practices is the fact that Angie's List is now a subsidiary of HomeAdvisor and that a single lead generated on either site is dispersed from both advertising platforms while disguised as 'competing advertisers'. These unconscionable actions make both lead services disreputable, and we have scaled back our marketing budgets accordingly.
They only there to run your credit card, after several attempts of cancellation, they still trying to charge your card.
You will be sorry! They will schedule you and charge for services not provided I wish I would have investigated before I chose them. You will have an impossible task at cancelling your account. I was unable to do it on line or remove my credit card info and was transferred to a different representative 3x and on hold for almost 50 minutes. Sent me an email I had a service scheduled 25 hours before "scheduled service," and told me I had to cancel within 24 hours of appt. I spent the next hour trying to cancel before I was charged for the second time for a job they did not do.
They bug you forevermore after they get your personal information. I think they must drum up customers for companies that pay them?

The photo below speaks for itself. A difficult spiral staircase, on the mark for price, on-time delivery and installation and excellent customer service. With a smile and a handshake, wonderful people indeed. My wife and I are more than satisfied, we are delighted with the end result.

I called them and first they said if I wanted quality leads I would have to sign up for the yearly membership. I said what is that for and the sales person said they would SEO my personal website with Goolge, Yahoo, and Bing and that would qualify me for the more quality leads. So I joined and I tried the leads, they were BS and were so bad that I had to refund like 6 of them because they didn't call me back or the number was bogus but they kept sending me bogus leads. I told them and then they said no more refunds you have to pay for them even though they are bogus and no one calls you back or if you do get a hold of someone they don't know what you are talking about. So I cancelled and I was $300+ on leads. So I figured they would SEO my site but 2 months go by and no one calls to tell me the progress of the SEO'ing my site. So I call them and they say we are not going to SEO my site and that the sales person should of never promised you that. Next step I ask for refund of my $287.00 and they say nope it's past 3 days and they can't refund me even though they promised a service and didn't deliver. So I tell them refund my money or else I will get a charge back and the supervisor still says no. I go to my bank and get a charge back. Then Home Advisor sends me an email claiming they are going to send me to collections if I don't pay them the $287.00 my bank collected for me from these criminals. I would run from them they sell the same leads to 50 people and charge them each $100. This is the biggest scam going and I don't know how they are still in business with the amount of money they have scammed from contractors and illegals.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
