The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

This company has and will charge your account whenever they want. Any dispute will result with them saying no refund but they will "credit " your account. Leads are bogus and don't actually come from real clients. My company is receiving collections claims and we haven't done a single project from them since being signed up almost a year. Home advisors and Angie lists are second best scam ever.
I have service sch dukes through HomeAdvisor fixed priced. It was rescheduled at the last moment by HomeAdvisor to July 12,2020 at 11 Am. At 11:15 I called the customer service I was disconnected 2x. Approximately at 12 pm I spoke with a representative who tried to help me but unfortunately had to transfer me to fixed price CS. I was also advised there was a pending charge on my card even though service was never completed. It is 12:19 and I am still on hold. This is the worst company ever if I could I would give this company -5 ( minus 5 stars)
Gregg was very professional. We are very happy with our deck work. It looks absolutely awesome. We would recommend him to anyone.
I started what work I needed done at my house and prepaid. The contractor showed up the next day for the wrong job saying it'll cost $150 more than I already paid. I tried calling home advisor 4 times while the contractor was there only to be put on hold and hung up and told they can't do anything. Don't waste your time or money with this Company
Three calls from Home Advisor just confirm my needs and my information. First call took approximately 45 minutes. Same questions each call. One representative confirmed she was offshore. Connection was horrible. Her English was relatively good BUT she could not understand some of my verbiage. An offshore rep should have command of the English language in the same manner a native English speaker does.
So far - horrible experience. I will see how it goes with the contractors. Not optimistic but will update my review.
They will take your money and give you leads that you can't make any money off of. Home advisor set my account up wrong sending me leads for different states, then told me i had "free" leads when i tried to cancel, but then charged me for more leads and refused to give me a refund. They are crooks, be warned.
We paid upfront for a project. They never showed up. When we called the service we hired, the number was not active. When we called HomeAdvisor about it, they passed us around, hung up on us, and would not help us through their phone or chat service. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING!
Semira, is the best he serviced my central air conditioner it runs like brand new. He was very courteous, explained every detailed. He made me feel very comfortable when I had question. Hire him you! Thank, you
Addie Johnson,
I have used it for 2 years decided to cancel but when I did they said I never canceled my membership and charged me $800. I never have opened and tried to explained I'll pay for any that have opened or called but not for the ones that I haven't. I deleted my account when I had $0 balance. They screw you over you never can get ahold of anyone and they don't care about your business just about overspending you leads and apparently not canceling your account.
The plumber did a job to fix a leak that lasted 24 hours. Impossible to reach them on 855 number. They did NOTHING to help with the problem. I had to file dispute with my CC company to get my money refunded.
As a contractor, your experience with home advisor will appear to be expensive but fair, initially... Then after a few weeks, they will drop all pretense and begin stealing from you at will. You will receive 1 good lead to 7 inaccurate leads with no concern or compensation. It's a shame, because it could be a good service if managed with the slightest bit of decency. My guess is that home advisor contractors are a constantly revolving new group, as they must all quickly recognize the scam and leave. My limited ad budget is better spent elsewhere.
All of my leads I paid for were dead ends not 1 job closed. Half of the leads didnt even answer the phone one lead had no clue how i got their information. I wouldnt recommend their service to anyone.
They ask you to pay immediately, told me someone would come Thursday. They told me they found someone and asked if I wanted their name, they said they would email me their contact info. Email comes, no contact info. I try emailing them, their service is down.
I get a hold of them tomorrow and they said they'll send someone that afternoon, "rest assured"
3 pm, I have no idea who's doing the job, they wouldn't even know what they were doing since I didn't have their contact info. Homeadvisor says they'll have to reschedule.
We reschedule it on Sunday. The operator says they'll "guarantee" someone comes then. I get finally get a call from a Handyman, they say Monday. I just got an email that said Tuesday. Still waiting.
I contracted with AAA tree services to cut back several trees and clean my gutters. They did a wonderful job, cleaned up all the debris, and made sure
I was completely satusfied
The repairman was a no show for a prepaid service. No one from Homeadvisor will answer the phone or reply to emails. Run fast from this service. Total ripoff.
They have so many leads for me again. I did it. It's crap! Advertise elsewhere...
I canceled and Home Advisors does not stop calling you... They try to get you on contract and then you're screwed...
My name is Patrick I'm electrician in Massachusetts
HomeAdvisor is big scam they tell you all this crap ones you become a member they charge you for everything even when you don't answer the leads they don't let you cancel is big problem I did answer the phone for three months and now they sent me a bill of $600 now Going to put me in collection big scam don't do it
I purchased a dishwasher from NFM and their repairmen came to my home twice and failed to install my new dishwasher due to not having a shut off valve under the sink. I had the shut off valve installed the same day and when they came back they said a drop of water was present. Later I called Home advisors and they sent out a repairman named Connor Barrlentos who inspected the valve and completed the project in a very reasonable amount of time. He inspected for leaks, there were none and I am very satisfied with his quality work.
Sincerely, Charles Evans.
I am Joan Ames, a single person, living in an old house which I called home advisor, putting my complete confidence in them. There are at least four different problems the job they did. 1) the skeleton key doesn't work on outside of door. 2) the quarter round on inside of window is not there. 3) the weather stripping is missing they took of to repair and paint, but didn't replace. 4) the leaded glass window isnt correctly completed repaired.
I thought I was dealing with a local contractor for leaf removal in Maine. I provided my information and they kept trying to hook me up with people in Tupelo, Mississippi. Even when I told them where I was, I kept getting referrals for Mississippi contractors. Stay away from this bogus outfit.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
