The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Very capable, friendly, and knowledgeable guy. He used to work for my employer (15k employees) as a contractor, so I know what kinds of projects he worked on. Huge stuff. Nothing too complicated for him. Didn't overcharge by a dime cause I did the part shopping and know the prices. His price estimates were right on.
The app has no option (or difficult to find):
-Change nature of your job, example Home Wiring to Fixture update.
-Mark a job as completed, leaving it in my queue.
-App has wrong pro selected from whom actually did the job.
I called in, talked to a very pleasant woman who asked me what kind of project I was looking for, then she gave me a list of contractors to contact. In a few hours a few companies texted me wanting to quote my project. I didn't even have to call them. When the company came out, they did a great job. The experience was so easy. Thank you.
It was a pleasure having the assistance finding someone trust worthy to get things done in my home.
They schedule bogus appointments without finding anyone to do the job then cancel. I was told they can do this 2 times and give you a $10 credit. They dont even have contractors to do the job and I took off of work and then cancel at last minute because no one they could find to the job. So why even schedule appts without anyone to do job. Total joke waste of time here and on top of it send several emails and texts and email cant pull up their icons. Bankrupt within 2 years rolling the dice at customers expense
The HomeAdvisor agent was helpful in putting together the project since I was having problems trying to find a contractor myself through HomeAdvisor's website. I've done this before for my old house and didn't have an issue. But this project, I had to call HomeAdvisor for some help who in turn, put the project together for me with a quoted price. There was no bid on my part which I feel I could have saved more money if I had that opportunity - like I did in the past.
I started my own business. Since then, home advisor has continuously contacted me about doung work for their clients. Ive made ot abundantly clear I'm not interested in them basically pimping me out. Literally 5 minutes ago thet called again. After months of them calling me to be turned down, i got irate. The home advisor pimp who called "yeah, yeah, yeah" me and hung up. My real rating is zero stars... But this made me select at least 1.

Excellent. Getting harder to find contractors who will actually call you back.
I was surprised by the small number of businesses that responded to the clean up job. Only one seemed willing to come out and give me a fixed price to do the job. Fortunately that one impressed me so much that I chose not to pursue anybody else.
Very pleased. All ok. Will hire again. He was on time. Completed the work and provided an invoice that matched his quote.
I liked their work i would hire them again for another project.
I will never contact them again. Beware they will ripe you off. I contact Home adviser for some yard work to be done. What I needed and wrote in there description. Was not what was going to be done. I needed many piles of none bagged leaves taken from my yard. One- found out after booked the appointment, they would not take them from my house it was my responsibility to get ride of them- ( Yet, there web site one question asked -do you need any thing hauled away. I put yes- leaves. (that was the reason why I was going to hire them) Two- they were sending one person to do the job, driving the smallest car ever.(Clearly the pictures I took-common since-needed more then one and with a truck at least) After I called to cancel the appt. Was informed there was a cancellation fee. ( Supposed to be waived) The appointment was for the 14th. On the 19th Home Adviser still took he full amount of the job out of my account. Even after they were informed the job was cancelled. No work was done. Now after contacting them it will take another week for my money to refunded. Money that should have never been taken to begin with. Do your self a favor DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- Take your time research. All this company cares for is getting your money. This company does not care who comes to your house to do the job, as long as they get paid.

Typed in google for window siding person
Angie from Elite Maintenance contacted me.
Was very comfortable, as she listened to me and made quick arrangements.
HomeAdvisor gave me three leads. The first one that I called decided to pass on the job and not give me a bid. The next one did me a bid, which I accepted. When I later called the first one by mistake, he asked me whether or not I had found someone to clean up my yard. I told him that I had and the amount charged, and he responded that that was a very good price.
I was so glad to find these people. We were getting close to closing date on the house and couldn't find anybody to do the job until I used HomeAdvisor.
I was able to have my leaking hot water heater replaced 11 hours after finding the problem.
Very good, friendly and helpful service. Gave me installers info with ratings.
Fabulous. I took several bids and picked Pro Painting Plus. I could not be happier. Ali's work is perfection and he is a gentleman and easy to work with. I love my new colors on the house. Mine was a tough job... Old house, clapboard siding. Etc... He pressure washed. Then patched... then started painting. You will be happy that you hired him.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
