The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Very professional very neat very friendly hiring R&L again.
We liked him because he was very professional experienced.
I have been receiving HomeAdvisor emails for a couple of years and seeing them on HGTV or DIY but have never used them. I had someone from the gas company come and do some work on the outside meter. When they restored my gas, they inspected things inside my house and discovered a gas leak. They shut off the gas and told me I need to contact a plumber. I used HomeAdisor and had a plumber here less than two hours after reaching out. The plumber fixed the issue in less than an hour and it only costs me the diagnostic fee. It was a very good experience.
Home advisor was great. They sent the names and numbers for several landscape companies. The checked in with me a few times to make sure I had received the information I had requested and to see if I needed additional assistance.
Home Advisor provided me with choices of PRO handyman to complete my project. I'm very appreciative and happy with the one I picked.
Wonderful experience! Very professional and would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a deep clean, post repairs and regular cleaning.
Very quick response. I never expected to get multiple companies to select from. I posted my requests at 5:30 am and the first company called me at 8:00 am to schedule an appointment for a quote. Very impressive.
Home Adviser seems very shady in my opinion. I booked a few windows to be replaced, within one day I received texts and phone calls from random contacts, one women said I was on her system for a booking and her company was 500 miles away, another guy said I was on Craigslist and when did I want the work done. After receiving all these strange calls and texts I decided to cancel my booking two days before the contractors where due, I was passed on to the fixed price department where I was left on hold for over 30 minutes to then have the phone put down on me. I believe this was a tactic to keep my booking long enough to be charged a cancellation fee and or the full amount. I decided I would just keep the booking and see how the work went. On the day of the contractors arriving, they where brilliant, they got everything measured up and informed me the fixed price of $530 didn't include the $#*!e thin glass we needed to replace the $#*!e thin glass we have from the 70's. I thought that was fair so had them order the glass and the contractor got a great deal on the $#*!e new glass for $40 less than the price it should have been. After a coffee together and taIking I told them the price I was paying for the labour and to my shock they told me how much they where seeing from that price, less than half. I was told they need to come back in a few days once the glass is cut to size which I was fine with but within 50 minutes of them leaving I had a message from my bank saying Home Adviser had requested the fixed price payment. So much for only paying once the job is complete. Been on the phone today with Home Adviser, feeling at the end of the conversation that the people on the other end have no customer care what so ever. Will never be using this platform ever again. If I was you I would source locally yourself as it will save you a ballache and money.
On June 3rd, I contacted Home Advisor to have a pro come out and fix our washing machine. We had to pick an appointment day and time. Then, an hour before the pro was supposed to come out, it got rescheduled for Sat, June 12. Once again, it got cancelled saying the pro had an emergency. We called Home Advisor and we were transferred to another department, then the representative said we need to call the sales department. We did and were reconnected with the other department. That representative said we needed to call the sales department. Home Advisor use to be useful and would connect us with a list of pros right away and they would call back. Now we have to set a day and time through Home Advisor and are not given a list of pros we can contact. I am done with this nonsense.
With a very easy process to post what I needed and I got responses very quickly
So far I have hired one team for plumbing and they were very good. I will be hiring them again, also I will be looking for other services for my home. I hope the next project will be as good as the plumbing team that I hired.
I have used them since 2015, starting in Maryland and now in North Carolina. From cutting trees down to plumbing to junk hauling and more, I have NEVER been disappointed with the professional service providers I needed.
I went on the Home Advisor link to compare prices on replacing a broken glass panel for a patio door. I immediately got a phone call from a rep who sold me on booking an appointment with a "Pro" for the job, labor plus materials. I told him that my husband could order the materials and maybe the price could come down. He gave me the story that "Pros" are contractors and they can get materials cheaper so I went along and booked an appointment plus membership. The first guy "Pro" who looked at it said I needed a whole new door, was going to price it out and then never heard from him again.
The next, "Pro" measured the door, gave me the dimensions, said he would order it and it would arrive in a week, and then again, never heard back and could no longer get ahold of him with the contact phone number generated by Home Advisor. BUT! Home Advisor charged my credit card the entire pre-quoted amount which was supposed to include materials, almost $300.
I am now disputing the charge with the credit card company.
Home Adviser is willing to give me some sort of nominal discount but I'll still be out of pocket over $200 for essentially someone measuring the door for replacement glass.
Please save yourself time, money, aggravation and a LOT of spam.
Not to mention the layers of Apps to figure out that are linked to the initial Angi's App
It all sounds easy and efficient but this is just a lead generator for "Pros"
It did not work for me and now I'll have to waste even more time disputing the charges with my credit card company.
Not Happy.
Home Adviser really does a nice job helping me pick out a person for a deck. Our deck guy was the first one to call us from placing in help as the job needed to be done a year ago and we never got anyone reliable to call us back.
After contacting HomeAdvisor, Voltage called and left a message. After calling them back I was hooked on having them do my tree removal project. The owner/contractor did all the work within a few hours. My lawn was cleaned up and looked great!
Reputable, honest, good workmanship. Would highly recommended these two companies
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
