The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I recently contracted with Home Advisor for an electrician to repair my central air conditioning. They gave me an appointment a week away. Then they emailed me to say they needed to reschedule. At this point I found another contractor on my own and cancelled with Home Advisor. After cancelling the job an electrician called about the project and I told him I had cancelled it. He said, "No, it's still active, and can you cancel it again so I can avoid the "lead charge." I told him I would and did. The woman at Home Advisor assuring me the job request was cancelled. Two days later an electrician shows up at my door. I explained the situation and he left.
Then the fun began. Home Advisor charged me for the job. I called customer service and after explaining my problem was shunted off to a foreign call center. I again explained my problem and she told me that they had no record of the cancellation. [ Ah, but they warn you that all calls are recorded - So did their system break down? Or is it in their interests to lie about such cancellations? Hmm?]
She then told me she was unable to refund my money and the best she could do was a 50% refund and I would have to ask the contractor for the rest of the money. I asked to speak to her supervisor but none was available since she was working from home, quote unquote.
To me this seems like fraud. They miss an appointment, you cancel the work, and you get billed anyways. Now, I see how Angi makes money. My advice, stay away, far away, from this business.
Made an appointment to have 3 trees cut down. They canceled Wednesday and had to reschedule for Friday, that morning they were supposed to come I get a text asking if I had the tools to to do it all. Well no if I did I would probably just do it myself. He was under the impression he was trimming bushes. Very disappointing at how unorganized this experience was trying to use this site for the 1st time.
Recently my battery powered kitchen faucet failed which meant there was no running water in the kitchen. I contacted Angi's. Within a half hour, Luis Gallardo responded. He came to the apartment, assessed the situation, and ordered the necessary parts. Because of part delivery delay, he was unable to finish the job the same day. He returned the following day once the part had been delivered and finished the job. In addition to hard-wiring the faucet, he leveled the dishwasher so it would not damage the adjacent wall. He replaced a heavy picture that covered the fuse box which was too heavy for me to lift. Luis listened, performed all tasks he was asked to perform without complaint. He is a personable professional electrician who respected both my property and me. He left the worksite as clean as he found it. To sum up my experience with Luis: No Fuss: No Muss.
Thinking that I could've done this job, proved me wrong. The installer ( Micheal) had all the neat gadgets necessary to do the job right. Thanks

This was the first time that I used Home Advisor. I am very pleased with this service.
Thank you, I was happy with a company you recommended! Great job!
Every thing went like clock work. Professional, experience, friendly
Had a quote from a local pro within minutes, he came out same day and fixed the problem, and the price was great
Better than best. First time I've been happy with such a web service.
Helpful. They provided me with a good contact to complete my project
Travis Brown and crew of 3 men worked 11+ hours removing weeds, wooden steps, large wooden fish cage, ridged piping, garden cages, concrete bird bath, tread mill, steel scraps and stereo equipment.
They called me right away and we set an appointment jennifer
I called HomeAdvisor, called one of their suggested companies, made an appointment, and that was it. The couple arrived exactly on time, never stopped working, and finished in less time than anticipated. All was smooth. This is an honest and objective review.
Took money out of my account without me accepting the lead. I was told no money would come out of my account unless I accepted the lead. They lied. Twice money was taken out. I cancelled my membership and was told all my money would be refunded and it wasn't. Called to ask where my refund was and no they say I might not get it back. I would STRONGLY suggest you stay away from this company. They are horrible!
Great, the job was handled sooner than I expected.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
