The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Great easy to navigate. I have found a few great professionals using this app.
Very good. The response with a number of contractors was almost immediate.
This completely incompetent company scheduled a handyman to clean my window unit AC for $138 who ended up having zero experience as a service provider for window unit AC's. He couldn't put it back together correctly after cleaning it so it's now unusable. Before he even left they had charged my bank account 2 charges of $160.99 for a total of $321.98. They then spent the entire rest of the day arguing with me from the Philippines that they only charged me one time instead of two and refused to reimburse me for damaging my AC or schedule another appointment for a qualified contractor to come out to fix it. Now the next day they have finally removed one $160.99 charge from my bank account and agreed to pay me a settlement amount so I can buy a new AC which then still needs to be installed. I am a disabled senior citizen living in Arizona where it is over 100 degrees with no AC since they broke it when I hired them to just clean it. After I signed the legal settlement they tell me they are now refusing to provide the legal settlement funds so I can buy a new AC for 30 days leaving me in life threatening heat in my home. I have been refused a supervisor for 2 days and the corporate office number is disconnected conveniently. You are left to deal only with a bunch of customer service guys in the Philippines through email. If you are not happy with those results GOOD LUCK! This disreputable company should be put out of business! RUN FAST from this so called company. It's your worst nightmare!
Outstanding in the work including promptness. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful including cleanup and replacing furniture. Because of this experience I will use them in the future for carpet cleaning.
We use Home Advisor to obtain reliable references for different vendors. We've been very successful with our choices.

I was looking for a business to do some vine removal and trim a lilac tree. I found the HomeAdvisor site to be easy to navigate and use. I put my request in and the following day was contacted by the requested service This was a good experience and I would use HomeAdvisor again.
Easy to use. Quick response and organized. Very pleased.
These gentlemen did a wonderful job, extremely competent, good cost & only several hours to complete.
I got a number of responses to my request. I chose one and was very happy with the results I got from J&E STAR Appliance Repair.
The timing to my request for a plumber was fast and outstanding.
I had two companies from Angi's list come to my house and diagnose the issue, one told me I had to replace both units and wanted cash upfront, as much as I could give and the other actually diagnosing the problem and repairing it on the spot. This makes me somewhat suspicious of how often Angi\Home Advisor is checking these companies to make sure they are doing right by the people recommended to them. This other company definitely saw the same issue, but knowing I was not fully aware of the problem, decided to try and make some money off of me by telling me I had to replace my AC units when in fact they could have just fixed them. Luckily I did not give them anything, it just didn't feel right them wanting so much cash upfront to give me a discount.
I had an emergency plumbing problem. Home Adviser contacted three local plumbers that they had vetted and had them contact me to check out the problem.
Quick response. Reliable contractors applied. Was able to choose the one best fitted
I felt that getting set up with a professional was confusing and perhaps competitive. We had about a 4-Hour job, and three professionals did not show up at the time initially arranged. However, I was happy that one other professional called and ask if he could come early. So all is well that ends well, perhaps. I didn't like the estimate online or committing to a price online unless it's a very routine job.
If you are a business don't believe what you hear but what you read. They will call and call to get you to sign up but when you do get ready to be raped and pilleged.
4000 dollars later they did nothing to help are business and while they will tell you it will cost a small amount to sign up in the end you will be like us asking how do you charge 4 times what you said.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
