I was pleasantly surprised to hear back from customer service after receiving some initial quotes, which I thought were too expensive. I was not going to move forward with the project. Customer service provided two additional contractors and one of them worked out extremely well for me.
Although I received a lot of referrals via Angi for needed tree service, and some emailed me that they wanted to quote on the job, only one out of many actually followed up within several weeks. One other followed up only after I had commented on Angi that businesses were not following through, but at that time I had already scheduled with the one service that had actually come out to quote. I would say the multiple calls and emails was not worth the hassle when businesses will not follow through. There should be a rating on line for the speed and completeness of follow up a business provides when quoting. Otherwise, return only to rating businesses and let the customer decide who to contact individually. Putting a deadline on quote would also be good. Those who cannot respond within a certain time period should not bother to say they are interested.
When I entered my project into your site, you had no one to recommend... because I needed to get this done, I called and an agent gave me 3 phone numbers Belmont being one of them, thank goodness. I had all 3 come out to look at the work to be done and had 3 completely different bids in scope and price range, but because I found great reviews of Belmont, I chose him.
Then I was charged ($60) by you for one of the other companies. I called and asked if I was being charged for an estimate. It was taken care of, but definitely doesn't make me feel confident about the company... and no one could tell me why I was getting emails asking for payment.
I did tell Belmont I got his number only because I called and was insistent they must have someone to recommend. I assume he pays for this service and if I were him, I would not be too happy.

These contractors did everything they said. I am very pleased with the way my driveway looks. It is a big driveway and they got it done in one day. Timing is everything. The other half of the crew arrived when the concrete got there at 3 PM. I was always able to reach Adam right away any time I called. Try that with other contractors!

I called the number at home advisor describing what I needed: multiple jobs. A general contractor service was recommended. Ben Sanchez of A Better Home Services contacted me and was able to give a quote and begin work almost immediately. Ben, Jessica and the crew were great. Even small areas garnered their attention. Painters, electricians, plumber and just the whole crew were fantastic! This is a time when remodeling is in high demand and it would be easy for then to put off the work. They did not. They were consummately professionals.
Happy with the companies they suggest. Less work and stress for me. Angie does it.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
